Kill To Connect

Sarah had returned to her home in the evening as she had some work to do. Claire was still working on deciphering the scripts but could not do it. She was exhausted, so she decided to sleep. When she lied on the bed and closed her eyes, she immediately went into the world of dreams.

"Alex! Hey, wait!" She called when she saw Alex running ahead of her.

He turned with a smile and said, followed by a laugh. "Catch me if you can!" He turned away and continued his run.

Claire was chasing him but could not close her distance from him no matter how hard she tried. "No, Alex, please wait," She called again but this time he neither stopped nor he turned.

"Wait…" She suddenly tripped and fell to the ground. "Ah!" Alex still didn't turn and went away. "Alex…" She uttered when she saw him going far and far away, finally vanishing into nothingness.

"Alex…" She woke up and sat on the bed. She held her head when she realized that she was dreaming. She nodded sideways and walked out of her room quietly. After making sure that her father was sleeping, she went out of the house hoping for Alex to arrive in front of her.

Meanwhile, Dr. Felter and Professor Ryan were having a chat in the drawing-room.

"Jessica was praising your views on love. She was quite impressed by it," Dr. Felter mentioned, making Ryan blush a bit while smiling.

"Sir, it was just my views. No big deal," Ryan replied.

"It might not be a big deal for you but it could be a big deal for the rest of us," Dr. Felter mentioned when he sipped the coffee from the porcelain mug in his hand. "What was it? I want to hear it from your mouth."

"Sir, it is nothing special, but I will tell you if you want to."

Dr. Felter and Jessica were all ears. Ryan inhaled to speak, "Loving and Killing someone is the same. First, you fear, then you hesitate. Then slowly, you get used to it. You don't even realize that it becomes an addiction."

Dr. Felter was nodding slowly while processing what he said.

"Isn't it weird but amazing at the same time, dad?" Jessica asked when she noticed her father going into a state of thoughts.

"It really is something different…" Dr. Felter uttered with a quizzical expression. He looked at Ryan. "But it has some loopholes. And personally, I don't quite like this connection."

"I don't like your connections either, Dr. Felter," Ryan spoke as soon as Dr. Felter finished his sentence. "No offense."

"There are always disagreements in theories. It's not a new thing," Dr. Felter mentioned, keeping the mug on the table in front of him. "But tell me one thing, how would you enjoy the feeling of killing someone like you would in the case of love?"

"You can enjoy it if you have done it for long enough. You can love it as well," Ryan replied with an evil smirk, his eyes fixated on Dr. Felter's neck.

"Heh, you talk as if you are a serial killer," Dr. Felter said jokingly.

"I might be one," As soon as Ryan said it, there spread an awkward silence in the room for a few seconds.

Then, Dr. Felter broke the silence by laughing. "Hahaha! Nice one!" He was thinking that Ryan was joking.

"Killing someone doesn't mean only to kill someone physically, but it could be socially, mentally or emotionally as well," Ryan mentioned. His eyes hadn't flinched from Dr. Felter's neck even after so long which was making Dr. Felter a bit uncomfortable.

"Quite a sadist connection you have theorized," Dr. Felter mentioned.

"It's not a theory anymore…"

Jessica was not able to follow anything now. "I will get you more coffee, dad," She said, picked up the mug from the table, and left the room.

"How many have you killed, Dr. Felter?" Ryan asked as soon as Jessica stepped out of the room.

"What do you mean?" Dr. Felter reacted with a frown.

"Your eyes tell me everything, my dear Felter," Ryan said while glaring into his eyes. "You seem quite an expert in all types of killing."

Dr. Felter could not understand if this person was joking or was serious. It did not seem like he was joking though.

Ryan stood up. "What do you love about them? The screams? The moans? The heavy breaths which get shallower each second?"

"I think I will discuss this with you later, I have something to take care of right now," Dr. Felter said, but suddenly his eyeballs expanded as if they were about to pop out. He was stabbed on the side of his neck. He could not even scream.

Jessica could hear some weird noises coming from the room but chose to ignore it thinking that they must have gone into a disagreement again.

"Do you know what I like about killing?" Ryan said, glaring into Felter's eyes. "They say that you see the flashbacks of your whole life when you are on the verge of death. I love to show people like you what you did in your life."

Dr. Felter's eyes rolled up after hearing it and his body loosened. Ryan tucked the knife into his pants and walked out of the room.

Claire, on the other hand, was heading towards the hotel where Alex had kept her earlier. She was hoping to find him there.

But she didn't know that there were two shady figures following her. Wherever she went, whatever turn she took, they took it as well. But it didn't seem like the two shady figures were aware of each other.

When she entered the hotel, one of them stared at the name of the hotel while standing on the street. The other one left in a hurry after noticing that the other follower staring at the hotel was Detective Sam.

Meanwhile, Jessica was busy pouring the coffee into the mug when she heard the main door closing. She headed towards the drawing-room preparing herself to scold her dad thinking that he must have argued with Professor Ryan and made him leave the house.

But as soon as she entered, she could not believe what she saw. The coffee mug dropped from her hands. Her eyes were in shock and she could barely speak.

"Da… Dad…" She stuttered after putting her hands over her mouth, then screamed. "Daaadd!!"
