A VOICE IN BASEMENT
CHAPTER 10
As Albert said, the child inside my mom is his, My mom slapped him. Everyone stood in shock as My grandparents cursed my mom and my dad tensed as he went near my mom and gave a death stare to Albert.
“You bastard.” My dad said and punched him.
“What the..” While Madison started to talk, My dad slapped her.
“Are you even a woman? How can you ruin another woman's name?” He said furiously as Madison scoffed.
“Woah, look at this gentle man, who married a woman for her money.” She said as my dad scoffed. Everyone in the party started to murmur and curse Madison because they understood Madison’s intention. They all started to yell at her as she left with Albert. After she left My dad took the mike and started to talk. “What Madison said about me was true.” as everyone started to murmur. He continued to say, “At first I married her for money. Even I told her about this but later on I fell for her pure soul and the child in the womb is mine. I don’t care about others. I just love her” My dad said as my mom wiped her tears in happiness.
But one person isn’t happy about this. Yes.. That’s my grandpa. He slightly went near my dad and punched him as his lip bled. “I trusted you and gave my happiness to you but Don’t you feel ashamed to say this.” He yelled and turned towards my mom. “And you.. Aren’t you embarrassed about this but smiling at his talk? What is the surety he will not kill you for your money.” he yelled .
“Dad, Stop it. He is not like that and I believe in our love. So stop judging him.” My mom begged him.
“Angelina, Wake up.. He is not loving you. He is just using you for your money.” My grandpa said as my dad came down and said. “Uncle, If you are thinking like that.. Just take back your assets and money. I only need her for her love, not for your money.” He said and held my mom’s hand as my grandpa left without a word. But judging what happened here shows me that my dad loved my mom dearly. Then why did he marry that which? Millions of questions kept appearing in my mind. As I woke up in my house with my dad sitting beside me.
I couldn’t see his eyes because of what happened in the past. I sat up in my bed as I looked at him as he let out the relief sigh and stood up to leave. I couldn’t understand him at all. He said, I'm not his daughter but he is sitting with me while I am unconscious. Isn't it weird? While I’m thinking about all this, he turned towards me and said, “Don’t drink the things offered by the stranger .” He said and left.
Wait, I become unconscious after drinking that coffee. But the illusion, Is that true or it’s a trick of Madison? Why did that boy offer me a coffee? And that old man, Is him is my mother’s ex-lover? I have many questions in my mind. While I’m thinking this, Elijah came out of his small room.
“You are awake, What do you want to eat?” I asked him as he ignored my question and went near the window.
“What happened? Elijah? Why are you ignoring my questions?” I asked him.
“I wish I was in my world by now. because I feel like I'm no longer needed for you.” He said with sad eyes.
“Elijah, Why are you talking like that? What happened?.” I asked him as sighed.
“You know, We faced every problem together in my world but here look at you. Facing everything on your own and forgetting about me.” He said.
“It’s not like that.. Elijah.” While I’m talking he cut me off by saying, “Then what did that mean? I’m small, useless, unable to protect you, aren't I?” a tear slipped from his eyes.
“Elijah, I have a lot of insecurity in this world and I am afraid Madison will harm you. I don’t want to reveal that you are with me. I said while crying as he looked at me pitifully.
“I heard , Everyone around us will be super happy, When they start a relationship. But look at us.. We are always solving problems, Fighting with everyone and worrying about everything. Even your family gives us the problem. I’m so tired of everything.” He said as I stood silently not knowing what to say.
He is right, After we started our relationship, We only had problems. I destroyed his peaceful world. He sat near the window as I went to bed. I don’t know how to help him grow back. After he becomes normal, I will tell him that I will leave him and he can be happy in his world. It will be the perfect result. I said to myself.
Next day morning, I told Elijah that I’m going to search for a way to get him back to his world and his normal state and he ignored my words and kept sitting near the window. So I left the room but I don’t know where to start. Madison is still in her room. So went to the basement to check if there was any clue.
Basement stinks. I started to check, If I could get something as I heard the crying sound of children. So I started to walk towards that sound. “I know, one day you will visit me.” That voice said as I stood and listened to where that voice was coming from.
“Don’t try to act smart with me, No one can ever find it. Who am I.” That voice said as every light in the basement went off. A chill air touched my shoulder. Valentina, You shouldn't be afraid and be brave. I said to myself.
“Okay, Okay, You don’t have to show yourself to me. Just say.. Why are you disturbing me.” I said but that voice didn’t answer my question, it kept trying to irritate that voice so it would appear in front of me.
But I didn’t expect that is….
