His frustration crossed its limits

While Emmett was about to take his last spoon of food, he suddenly realised something. "Who brought these foods for us?"

"Huh?"

"Where did this come from?" He asked again.

Dhruv looked down to the plate on the table. "Must be a maid."

"Was that the same lady whom you had sent with Pearl?" Emmett squinted. But this time his voice was hoarse with real annoyance.

"Ummm… How would I know?" Dhruv scratched the back of his head with confusion. He is careless about such things obviously.

"Then go and get her here. Now." Emmett ordered steadily.

"Okay. But calm down. Later, don't scare her away." Saying that he ran out to bring that lady.

Emmett frustratedly looked in the direction where Pearl was standing. No one was around her. She was arranging some ritual stuff alone.

What angered him the most was that she had removed the coat he gave her, but her shirt was still the same. Though it was dry by now, the faint stain was still there.

He understands if she is busy with funeral and company work at the same time, however, it's still unacceptable for him that she ignores her wounds. What if she got blisters? They needed to be treated long before. It must have been hurting her a lot by now.

"Bro here she is." Dhruv said and asked the lady to come in front of Emmett.

Emmett stood up from the couch. Staring at the lady he coldly spoke. "The job you were given with an ointment, was it done?" He asked.

Emmett highly doubts that.

The food they were given was just within a few minutes after he sends that lady to Pearl to treat her wound. How can that lady be so fast with her work, that she applied ointment and arranged food within a few minutes?

The serving lady got a little scared. She was scared that she would be punished for something she didn't do purposely. Not minding if it's right to say it out or not, she hurriedly said.

"I did ask madam to come with me so that I can apply for the medicine, but Madam asked me to serve food for the rest of the guests, which is only you two. I was getting late and had kids waiting for me, so I was in a hurry. As of now, no other servants are present in the mansion other than me, so I have to do those chores first."

"What wound does she have that you are so worried about?" Dhruv asked as he forgets to ask it earlier.

"Sigh." Emmett's desire to teach Pearl some lessons got stronger.

"Send that lady off from her work. And you also go back and leave a car for me." He said while beckoning Dhruv and that lady to leave the premises.

"Huh? What about you?"

"I'll leave later. You go first." Saying that he walked towards the main hall where Pearl was.

Dhruv was a little confused but he still followed the order Emmett gave to him.

"Get up." Emmett said to her.

Pearl turned and looked at him with a little frown. "?"

"Apply the ointment." Unlike his irritation towards Pearl, he still spoke lightly so as not to scare that girl.

"In a minute. My work is almost done." She replied.

The ritual material she is handling is something that only a family member is allowed to touch. Her grandmother is too old to carry out rituals and stuff like that. So instead of her, Pearl handled all the matters in her place. She can't ask workers to do such things.

"Almost? Your work still needs another hour." Emmett stated.

Pearl didn't answer him and continued doing her work.

Emmett could see her ignorance. Chuckling with annoyance he warned. "Get up or I'll carry you out."

Looking back at him with the same arrogance she asked. "Who are you?"

She knows that he is the one who gave her his coat because Emmett is still wearing his suit pants matching that coat. As also only he or the person whom she helped would know about her burns.

But what surprised her was his presence at Mr. Mallaya's funeral.

Now seeing him completely from the front, she remembered something blurry to his silhouette. She felt like she had met him before, but couldn't remember any other details.

'What were the odds? Who is he?'

"Someone who is going to trouble you from now on. So, get up and let me start from now on." Emmett replied carelessly.

Hearing that she stood up from the ground with puzzlement. "Why bother?"

They are total strangers. But the way he is behaving wasn't what strangers do. In fact, like her, somehow the person standing in front of her doesn't find her as a stranger.

He gave her a little smile to begin his answer. "That I'll tell you later on. For now, come with me. You need to apply this ointment. You already stalled and wasted lots of time."

Emmett didn't want to tell her his reason because he wanted to earn her trust first. His teacher had told him that it's hard for Pearl to believe in someone.

If she got to know that he bothered himself with her because of what Mr. Mallaya said to him, she would believe his words and actions only because her grandfather asked her to do so. Not because she believes in him. Not because he is worthy of her trust.

Pearl wanted to deny again, but Emmett gave her a stern look. "Coming or want me to help you walk?"

For her, his sternness wasn't a problem, but the problem was his constant try of helping her. With a sigh, she nodded her head. "Is there any woman around?"

"No." He replied.

"I'll ask grandmother." She said,

"She is asleep." He informed me.

Beckoning her to move, he added. "You should have taken the help of that lady when you had a chance. Now some of them have either left, or are either busy."

Pearl felt an old headache coming back to her. She isn't uncomfortable showing her bare back to someone, but Emmett's words were too direct for her. Moreover, it's her first time letting another man be this close to her or letting them touch her.

Unlike Pearl, Emmett wasn't thinking much while he was talking. For him, Pearl is just someone who needs his care from now on.

Unknown to him, he considers Pearl as his person already. He had seen her potential and character all these months. It does not just surprise him but also excites him. And not to forget makes him curious about their future.
