CHAPTER THREE: FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
“In order to get your IPad, I will need you two to tell me your class number, exactly as it is written in the paper given to you” she said as she stood up and walked towards a large cupboard, she opened it
“My classroom number is Grade 7b” I answered as she brought out a large cardboard box that has a number by the side ‘7b’ and dropped it on the table opposite the cupboard
“You can come select one from here” she said to me as I walked towards the table to pick a white IPad
“I am also in grade 7b” Rosa said as she walked towards the table with the permission of the bursar and picked an IPad
“Okay!” the bursar said, Rosa went to pick an IPad through the permission of the bursar, as soon as she picked hers, the bursar carried the cardboard box and put it back where she carried it from before closing the cupboard
“Thank you, ma’am” I appreciated
“You are welcome!” she said as she walked back to her chair “when you booth you IPad, you will be asked to put in your information before using it and the IPad given to you contains four educative app created by the school, no other apps aside from that should be downloaded in the IPad. The school board will be notified if that happens and it will cause to seizing of the IPad, you know what that means… It means that you will have to buy all the textbooks needed for your subjects” she explained as she sat on her chair
“Yes ma’am” Rosa and I said together
“Glad you are following” she said as she rested her body on the chair “the four apps in the IPad are; all documents x videos, homework centre, textbooks and chat room” she added “all documents x videos is where documents such as; pdf, doc, etc. are moved when it is being sent by your teacher in the chat room platform, the homework centre is where the teacher sends your homework, I don’t need to explain further on it because instructions on how to use it will be given. The textbooks is where all the offline textbooks are installed, I asked for your class number so that you will be given the right IPad where the correct textbook for your class is and lastly, the chat room is where different platforms are like your class platform, subjects teachers platform and school platform is. You can chat and read messages from it” she explained
We both nodded our head after hearing her
“Remember, non-educative things aren’t allowed in the phone or chat room” she said as she turned her gaze to the computer “You can leave now before the bell rings, you have to go to your home room teacher” she said
Rosa and I went for the door and closed the door behind us as we followed the map to our homeroom teacher
“The IPad got the school logo on it pouch and when you on the IPad” Rosa said as she switched on her IPad
“What else do you expect?” I shrugged as I knocked on the door to our home room teacher’s office
“Are you sure this is the office?” Rosa asked as she put her IPad into her bag
“I am hundred percent sure, I guess” I shrugged as the door opened
It was a female staff that opened the door for us to enter, she went to sit on her chair as we entered and closed the door behind us
As we entered, we also saw three other students, two girls and a boy standing by her table. I guess they are scholarship students like us.
“Are you the newly scholarship students of class 7b sent by the school’s bursar?” she asked as she sat on her chair
“Yes ma’am!” Rosa and I answered her
“Great” she said as she stood up “the students you see here are also scholarship students except for the male, he isn’t a scholarship student. Class is about starting but before we all go together, I will have to hand you the bulletin that contains the school rules and besides, there will soon be an orientation for all grade seven students next two weeks, I hope by then you won’t have broken the school’s rule” she said as she handed the bulletin to us
We heard the bell rings “Thank goodness” she said as we collected the bulletin from her, she walked towards the door almost immediately “let’s go, your classmates will love to meet the five of you” she said as she opened the door for the five of us to step outside before closing it
She led us to our classroom, as soon as we got to our classroom door “Stay here, I will call the five of you inside later. I am going to first talk to the students” she smiled as she opened the door and closed it as she entered inside the classroom
I was able to hear noise inside then later there was decorum, maybe, the teacher shunned them up
I looked at the other three students that came with us and just then, I felt like talking to them when I heard “come on in!” says the home room teacher from inside
“I think she is referring to us” I said to them as I opened the door and left it open for them to enter
“The guy is very handsome!” a female student said in a loud whisper
“Not compared to Samson and Mones” another said
“Look at him closely”
I didn’t even notice that the guy with us was that attractive
“What about the blond girl? She is pretty and has a good body shape”
The only blond is Rosa, no doubt, Rosa is pretty while me, I don’t even know but I heard few students compliment me before
“Introduce yourself!” the homeroom teacher said to us
“Hello everyone, I am Rosa Davison!” Rosa said
“She even got a pretty name!” one of the students complimented
“Yes, she does have a pretty name!”
