"LETTY! SHAY! GET OUT THERE!"

Everything was dark not even a flicker of light in sight. Holding strange weapons in their hands as Lance was getting a feel for the darkness surrounding him not understanding what exactly he was supposed to do.

But it felt like it had been minutes yet hours passed by, and still nothing happened and his heart began to beat faster and heavier. It had become apparent that something wasn't right, and that they were going to be in trouble if they didn't get out soon.

"Lance..." Coy whispered.

"Huh" Lance replied.

"Shay isn't average here you need to be careful..." He said in a low voice.

The room began to get colder with each step. The low sounds of growling could be heard in the distance, and they looked around. Not sure what it was they saw, but it was terrifying, and the growling grew louder. Lance's heart rate picked up and he couldn't help but begin to tremble.

[Master Lance, you should be concentrating]

A soft voice sounded in his head. His eyes widened and shot back towards him. His eyes landed on the creature, Standing above him at least 3 feet tall was the most massive beast Lance had ever seen.

Back and forth beast beat into Coy and Lance constantly knocking them to the ground while snapping it's jaws repeatedly.

"You Shay is a beast?!" Lance gasped.

[You are still level 0 you have no time to play around]

[Please stop being scared as you were given what is objectively one of the best abilities there is]

Coy and Lance exchanged glances before running at top speed towards the beast only to be grabbed by the back collar. They yelled and struggled desperately against whatever it was holding onto them until Lance felt himself lifted off the ground.

[That is it you have wasted enough time]

Lance felt his energy drain from within and he dropped limp against the beasts grasp. He was placed onto a platform that seemed to go through the earth, as if they were underground. The only indication that they were moving was the slight rocking motion.

"I had enough of you furry asshole!" Coy shouted.

"Oh so you are finally gonna do something?" The beast laughed.

It released their grip on Lance and stood in front of Coy and Lance.

[This is your last warning]

"If you want me to come willingly I won't hesitate to rip your head off" Coy snarled.

"You are going nowhere!" A female voice suddenly announced. A woman appeared from behind the beast.

The room finally lit up with fire scorching high into the ceiling , illuminating a figure in the middle of the room. He stood on top of an object which made him seem about twice as tall as the others standing around him. He looked down on them with a smug grin.

"So the little runt is coming with me, what makes you think I'll let go?"

It was someone that was not their teacher as he watched the four confused from down below.

"Don't look up please continue."

Shay ordered. "Just ignore him"

Lance nodded reluctantly and slowly began to inch away from Coy. As he did this he glanced back over and caught Coy trying his very hardest not to stare at the new arrival. He tried to ignore it all and focus on fighting.

Letty hopped on Shay's back as he backed up growling at Lance and Coy. Coy stood still before making a stance looking blankly forward at the masked person in the center. He suddenly acting funny almost robotically lurching forward towards the wolf. Shay quickly shifted to his own hybrid form and ran in front of him blocking Letty from any attacks.

"Hey! What is wrong with him!?" Shay cried. He had thought they would be able to get past this without much issues.

Coy took the large blade was given. He swung it fiercely at Shay who blocked it. With every strike the blade was thrown further and further away. Eventually it was flung off to the side completely destroyed. He continued to fight without a weapon in hand as though possessed.

[You see Lance...I was going to do this to you, but I realized Coy needs help]

"What did you do to him?!" Lance shouted.

The angry blonde boy smashed the bones of Shay's front paw causing him to howl knocking Letty off his back. Both boys began to circle around Lance who stared wide eyed at them.

"Well well well look what the cat dragged in." Shay yelled.

Letty leaped forwards landing a hit square in the center of the boys chest. Lance grunted, falling backwards but keeping his balance. He was quick to recover however, and slammed his foot into the side of Letty's head knocking him across the floor.

Hitting into Lance one after another his punches sent shivers through Lance who screamed in pain. This continued for about 10 seconds until Lance stumbled back tripping over Letts body. He managed to catch himself before falling flat on his face.

Both hybrids continued to fight as Shay came up aiming at Lance once again. Coy screamed in pain as jet black wings burst out through the back of his shirt and wrapped tightly around his back. He fell into the ground letting loose a powerful roar as he thrusted his sword directly towards Shay.

Lance's breath was cut off for a moment when something struck him in the chest as he tried to stop the fight. He stumbled back and saw the claws of the huge beast protruding from his chest.

[When are you going to realize these fights will never end Lance]

He looked down and his breath left him in a gasp as he realized his chest was on fire. The wound from earlier was now open wide enough to see the contents inside. He brought his hand up to touch the blood that pooled at his neck, and felt his heart skip a beat.

Lance fell to the ground quickly fading fast as he could feel blood draining from his body . He heard Coy scream something but didn't catch what it was, or understand anything else around him. All he could process was Shay running towards him and the beast attacking him before Coy bear his claws at Shay.

[ You are going to die Lance if you decide to keep sitting on the sidelines]

He was slowly dying as the other fought around his body. He could feel everything once again go cold and his mind getting foggy.

He watched with blurred vision as the large wolf jumped forward and swiped with a clawed paw. All Lance can remember was the feeling of someone grabbing his hands and then being tossed into the air. Then there was nothingness.

"Lance, you are back here already?" Alphine scolded.

He realized he was sitting in a white space this time no overlooking ocean anywhere in sight. His head snapped around searching for his friends. The only thing he found was Alphine walking down a pathway in the middle of the room. He followed slowly following close behind. He couldn't bring himself to talk to anyone, his voice wouldn't allow it.

"Did I die again?" He asked.

"We expected you to be more proactive and fight, but you didn't..." She snapped, "You just sat there."

"Sorry...it's just I never fought before and I am expected?" Lance sighed.

Alphine sighed before turning around to face him. Her expression soften a bit when she saw his sad puppy dog look. "What happened?"

Lance swallowed hard. The fact that the beast attacked them had him thinking. He hadn't done that before?

"I...wasn't strong enough" Lance murmured, "I wasn't supposed to.."

"What were you meant to do Lance?" She asked.

"Stop them... I don't know...maybe try and use my powers" He shrugged.

"I see. It seems you didn't learn much then. Your power is very unpredictable at times, but not even starting it. If you hadn't been able to stop that beast...you wouldn't have died. Do you think we would have been successful if you hadn't been able to stop it?"

Lance stayed silent unsure how to respond. He didn't know. Would he really had died if they hadn't stopped it? He was sure he would have eventually lost consciousness because he could feel his energy draining.

His attention drifted over to a door on the far side of the room. Something about it didn't seem right.

"Who is that?" He asked pointing towards the door.

"Ah...Lance welcome back do you remember me?"
