Perfect

Lance laid wounded on the ground bleeding out next to his dragon's corpse in the field. His body was limp from blood loss but he knew it would take a lot longer for his wounds to heal if he didn't get back into the saddle to help carry Keith back to camp.

Lance wasn't much of a warrior and could only hope that Keith wouldn't be too angry at him for letting him die after he had carried him all this way without even trying to save himself.

Keith lay just behind him, unmoving and covered in dust. Lance couldn't tell when he' fallen unconscious because one minute they were riding side by side, the next Keith was lying beside his dragon with no sign of life.

He had passed out sometime during their journey back here, probably from a broken leg or a severe headache when he fell off his beast. Maybe both of them should stop and rest until they got somewhere safe.

That seemed like the logical choice.
