123 Meanwhile at home

Back in Belmac in the dwarven city of Verst. The breeze was gentle on the stone filled grasslands. Wet clothes swung lazily on the line as the clear sky showed the clouds moving slowly.

The City of Verst of course was as brilliant as ever. It's bright stone walls made a stark contrast against the dark grounds outside.

But that was not the reason for the great change in our focus.

The reason was actually two little dots that could be seen in the sky and a woman shouting at them from the ground.

"Agni Belamus Soulsmith and Barak Taranis Soulsmith! Get down here this instant!"The woman yelled out.

The two dots in the sky bobbed and weaved between each other speedily.

The two brothers had grown quickly in the time their father was away. Mere weeks old and they looked like toddlers. Strong and dense bodies filled with energy. But this was not the most amazing.

The brothers affinity for the elements and natural talents were unparalleled. Agni despite not having wings had learned to fly by using magic. Without being taught or even explained to him. One day Sam had been playing with him on the floor. The next she found him floating on a cloud of fire in their room.

Agni was born without wings compared to his brother. But Barak had learned to fly a little after his brother. His wings grew strong within days and he was now flying just as fast as his brother who was using magic.

The two were amazing prodigies and many scholars examined them from the shadows. Taking notes and writing theories about their situation. Though they had to do so from the shadows.

Sam had refused anyone who wanted to examine her children except for the royal physicians. So these Nosey eggheads were shut out from something curious and amazing. And it frustrated them to no end.

They had tried every means to get to the children. But the last time was the final straw. Sam pulled out the hammer last time. And she proved all the more dangerous with it as she was without it. A few scholars were still unconscious from a blow to the head.

And this is why they now hid in the shadows like perverts watching the children play.

But to be fair Sam was in a parental version of hell. Flying children meant flying, urinating, and pooping miscreants who (for one reason or another) were as wild as the grass was green.

But to be fair. Ignis was their father. A full fledged beast with a human soul.

And so Sam spent most of the day hunting down her sons. And eventually she managed to get them in some form of diaper. Clad in metal and locked tight so they couldn't rip them off. Because as Sam had found out. They had indeed inherited their father's disaster level strength from before his evolution. So ripping off a cloth diaper was as easy as breathing for them.

But Sam thankfully had a few dwarves willing to help out and forged some solid covers to lock everything in place.

Then came meal time.

The boys had grown solid teeth within two weeks of their father leaving and that meant solid food for both of them.

Mashed potatoes with a milk based gravy. Cheese was a staple for both. But everyone knew these two prefered solid meat to anything else. Bacon, Steak, Ribs, etc. They devoured even the bones(Which they cracked apart with their teeth before chewing to nothing but dust.

Sam had worried about the swallowed bones at first. Until she saw her sons mill them into a powder before swallowing them leaving a powdery mess all over their bodies.

And so the boys grew quickly. But toddlers of course loved their mother. And were incredibly fond of the books she read them.

They had no need for toys. They only wished to hear the tales their mother would tell them. Or the words she read from a books pages. Stories of dragons and fairies. The lessons that were learned from funny tales and the ridiculous songs she would sing from them.

One of the days she was reading a muffled thump was heard outside her door.

Sam had her children in her arms but moved them to fill only one as she reached for her hammer at her side instinctively.

"Marcus. Are you alright?" She called without opening the door.

After a moment without an answer she quickly placed the children below the bed where they let out jumbled sounds in discomfort. Sam quickly threw the covers over their hiding place and stood straight with her hammer at the ready.

Her dress was a heavy leather kind. Similar to a battle maidens training armor. Resistant to blows and heat But not too heavy for movement. And her hands bore gloves of similar leather engraved with magic enchantments.

The enchantments in question were of course for thunder and fire resistance with an added effect of mana storage.

And so she stood at the ready with her hammer strongly gripped staring at the door.

After a brief silence the window to the room shattered as a slim dark figure flew through it.

Silver daggers reflected the sunlight in the room as they danced toward Sam. One heading for her throat and the other heading for her midriff.

She spun her hammer with quick and precise motions deflecting the daggers before slamming the butt of it down on their foot.

But before the hammer could hit, the assassin dashed to the other side of the room. The dark cloak covering most of their face moved slightly. Even in the dark corner one could make out a pair of curled draconic horns peeking from under the hood.

Sam's grip on her hammer tightened and the runes for enchantment lit up making them seem almost unearthly. Dark purple lightning danced across its surface.

"I take it you're here to kill me and my children?" Sam said flatly. Her amused side rarely came out without some form of decent opponent so she was fairly bored. Many assassin's had managed to make it to the manor in his time away. But most had been either stopped by the guards or killed by Sam. So she was very used to this scenario by this point.

Her opponent in question merely tilted her head slightly with her daggers still ready.

"No. but I will be taking all of you by force for breaking the laws of the Dragon Kin. No crossbreeding or intermingling is allowed without permit from the grand council. You are to be hereby detained and transported for judgement and your children sold to the greater clans among our race." She stated bluntly. She raised her daggers higher and charged.

Sam spun her hammer in a circle deflecting the raised blades. But her left foot was suddenly kicked out from beneath her making her kneel awkwardly.

Her opponent charged forward and used the hilt of one of her daggers to hit the back or her head knocking her out. And so Sam hit the floor with her hammer skidding away from her grasp.

The woman pulled some rope from her side and went to tie Sam's hands when she heard twin growls from beside her. A chill went down her back as the auras of these beasts were Disaster class at least. And this woman didn't have the power or skill to handle them. Even untrained these beasts could annihilate her.

(What are they keeping here?) The woman thought as she shakily turned to look at where the growling came from and what she saw shocked her.

Two toddlers stood by the bed glaring at her intensely. Their auras making the air shiver as fire and lightning crackled from their bodies in unison. The fire from one twirled in tendrils around the lightning of the other.

"Weave Mudder Arone." The one gird in fire spoke. His voice may have sounded like a child's and his words slightly muddled. But the look in his eyes was as intimidating as anything this woman had seen. The claws on the legs of both children dug into the wood beneath them as they stood tall and straight.

The woman tried hard to stand but found her body pressured heavily till she was left kneeling against the floor. Her head was unable to be raised as she even struggled to breathe. (This is madness. Even the high elders don't have this much aura in their humanoid form. What the hell birthed these two monsters?) She thought as her vision turned dark and she passed out.
