Ghostly Fire in the Cemetery (C)

Translator: Exodus Tales Editor: Exodus Tales

As I ventured deeper into the graveyard, the chill on the back of my neck became colder and stronger.

I shrunk my neck, stopped moving forward, and shone the flashlight around. I didn't know if it was an illusion or something, but the area in front of her seemed to be foggy. It was like a white cloud, and even though I could slightly see through it, the flashlight couldn't shine too far.

I swallowed my saliva and whispered Silly Er's name a few times.

There was no response.

There were no traces of Silly Er either. Where did this silly person go in just a blink of an eye? If I hadn't had a good friendship with him, I wouldn't have bothered to find him.

I looked back at Chubby Boy where they stood. The fog was so thick that I couldn't even find their shadow.

It felt as if I was in a bottomless pit, as if I was in another world all at once. I felt a cold in my heart which made my legs shake more and more.

"Silly Er, where are you? If you don't come out, I will leave..."

I whispered. Even though the blindfold was worn properly, I was still worried when I remembered my aunt's instructions.

Aunt didn't allow me to go to a place where the yin energy was so heavy. I was already a body that gathered yin energy. At this point, I might provoke something spooky.

'Hu-'

There was something blowing on my neck, making the chill stronger.

My whole body became stiff and wanted to flee, but my legs didn't listen to my instruction.

"Amitabha, Amitabha… [1]"

"Hu-"

There seemed to be something blowing wind to my Earlobe. I felt like I was surrounded by bodies condensed with yin energy. I was scared. I could sense that they were of a huge number, so much so that I might pee myself if I removed the blindfold and saw them all.

"Silly Er, where are you? Come out quickly... If you won't come out, I'm really leaving..." I shouted tremblingly, trying to boost my own courage. But, what came out from my throat was a trembling voice.

"Ah-"

There was a scream.

I was trembling with fright. But after a while, I calmed down and realized it was Silly Er's voice.

The voice came from... behind me.

I couldn't care less as I ran boldly in the direction of the sound. I could feel that something was chasing behind me, so I ran desperately, almost reaching my limit of physical fitness.

I threw away the brick in my hand and held the flashlight tightly as I sped into the mist.

As I ran, I stumbled on something under my feet, and fell down terribly. The flashlight was flung out of my hand and landed a distance away as I fell down.

I got up and was about to pick up the flashlight, when the blindfold on my left eye suddenly loosened and fell off.

My heart stopped and a felt a shiver run across my back.

My blindfold had actually fallen off at such very moment.

I picked up my blindfold in a panic. Before I could put it back on, the field of vision in front of me was completely different from before. Countless shadows in the mist drifted towards me faintly.

They were getting closer and closer to me. There were tall, short, fat, thin, dressed in white clothes, dressed in red skirts, old men, and old women.

I swallowed my saliva as my heart almost jumped out from my throat.

I had never seen this situation before and was scared silly.

At the moment, the tombs were all burning with ghastly ghost fire. There was a fire above each tomb. The color of the fire was sometimes dark blue for a while, and then it sometimes became blood-like red, lighting up the entire graveyard. The scene was sinister and mottled.

Is this the ghostly fire that Chubby Boy mentioned!?

I am really going to die this time.

I sat on the ground on my buttocks, holding my head in both hands, feeling a sense of despair.

I dared not look at them, desperately burying my head in my knees.

"She has the sixth sense that can detect ghosts, such a good body. I want it."

"She is mine."

"She is mine. No one can rob her from me."

...

I shrunk into a ball, holding my trembling shoulders tightly, and the countless murmurs echoed in my ears. The masters of those voices seemed like they wanted to fight for my body.
