My Last Apocalypse

I can't explain why or how this cycle repeats for me. Yet, what I do understand is each time I die, I return to the starting point, a zombie apocalypse, and continue my journey anew. In my first apocalypse, I overlooked the creeping signs of doom until overrun by zombies in my flat, where I perished in sheer terror. The second attempt to alert others of the impending chaos fell on deaf ears; labelled a lunatic, I fled the city, only to succumb to starvation and exposure alone in the wild. By the third go, I sought safety in wealth, collecting vast supplies, yet fell victim to a brutal gang. Now, understanding the key—precise foresight, survival skills, strict secrecy, and solitude—I see the purpose in reliving this collapse. This time, failure is not an option. This time, I will survive and outlive the apocalypse.

City Hall shelter defence (1)

Under the growing threat from Bugu town, I realise that we need a unified front to protect not just one shelter, but potentially the entire community. My first call is to Yong's shelter, where Yong and his trusted second-in-command, Han, have been instrumental in previous operations. Their experience and leadership will be crucial in the coming battle.

"Yong, it's urgent," I begin as soon as the line connects, my voice filled with a sense of urgency. "We've received a credible threat from Bugu town. They're planning a coordinated attack on the City Hall shelter. We need to bolster our defences there immediately. Can I count on you and your team?"

Without a moment's hesitation, Yong replies, his voice steady and reassuring, "Of course, my friend. You don't even have to ask. Han and I will gather our best fighters. How many do you need?"

"Whatever you can spare," I answer gratefully, relief washing over me. "Every capable hand will help in this fight."
