Following Carlotta's accusation, Sally looked at Layla with sympathy and added, "Layla, before you make a huge mistake and regret it, you'd better hurry up and hand over what you stole."

However, Layla rolled her eyes at her and replied, "I've never seen the diamond necklace you're talking about. Also, which eye of yours saw me coming out of this old hag's room?" 

"Hey, watch your words!" Upon being called an old hag, Carlotta became angry and snapped, "I've never seen a thief as self-righteous as you. If you don't return my necklace now, I will hand you over to the police!"

As she spoke, Carlotta looked at Layla with disdain. As time passed, she began to feel more certain that she had made the right decision at the very beginning. No matter what, she couldn't let Fred find out that the girl from the orphanage who he had been missing all this while was actually Layla.
