My Kingdom Building System

[QUEST: The Beggar from Another World] [Beg 10 times: 0/10] [Rewards: Old Rusty Sword] "Huh, what am I supposed to do with that sword? Dig my own grave? Then you better give me a shovel." The beggar said jokingly. [The quest has still not been accepted] [The reward changed] [New reward: Old Rusty Shovel] "Hey, hey, hey! I was joking. And why did you gave me a Rusty Shovel? I meant a new one!" [Ding] [The quest has been automatically accepted] "System! You bully people far too much!" ["..."] "Ahh! I guess I can only complete this quest, so that I can receive new quests." The beggar walked down the street and approached one middle aged man. "Excuse me." "Get away from here!" The man took a broom ready to chase the beggar away. "Sigh!" The beggar lowered his head. "It's really hard to live as a beggar. But how can I give up? A whole kingdom needs to be build and it would definitely not build itself."

Repeatable Quest (1)

Nolan quickly found himself in the middle of a busy street.

Honestly, he couldn't recognize the street.

The whole street was lighted with oil lamps. And it differed from the daytime so much, he felt like he was on a completely different street.

The previous street, poor with stalls, now had stalls set all over the sides. Simply said, the nightlife of the street flourished. There were so many people on the street, Nolan had to force his way so he could continue moving.

In such a crowd, he couldn't fully see everything the street had to offer. However, he still managed to notice a few interesting things.

He noticed a brothel. He found it a little strange because he didn't notice the brothel when passing down the street before, but he didn't think much of it. After all, it was quite possible that the brothel didn't work during the day, so it didn't stand out as much.

Now, the brothel stood out too much, to the point that even if you wanted to ignore it, you couldn't. The whole entrance was lighted with oil lamps and red fabrics hung down with the words "Thousand Dreams Brothel" written all over it with black ink.

Many poor drunk peasants outside the brothel drooled to enter inside, but only the rich could have the pleasure to taste the goods inside.

Nolan even witnessed a naked, drunk man being brought out of the brothel by two muscular men and thrown on the street, in front of so many passersby. The two men didn't even care for the image of the man. They just threw him in the middle of the street and entered back into the brothel.

"That's not a good place," Nolan shook his head. He was the kind of person who hated those kinds of places. He hated cheating, hated those who would be with someone just to taste their bodies.

Before transmigrating, he wanted to kill those people, but he didn't dare because of the law. He didn't know why he hated those people so much. Probably because when he was in his teens, a girl who enjoyed being with a different boy every night hurt his feelings.

As he was too focused on the brothel, at first, Nolan didn't notice the restaurant a few buildings from him, but as soon as he took his attention off the brothel, he noticed it.

As If his body moved on his own, he hurriedly walked towards the restaurant.

He sat at a table outside the restaurant. He sat there on purpose because the table was close to the street, so he hoped to use his skill [information gathering lv.1] to hear some gossip.

Honestly, Nolan liked the restaurant. There were a few rectangular wooden tables placed outside, with two benches facing the longer sides of the rectangle tables.

Inside, the restaurant also had wooden tables, but instead of rectangular, they were round. And instead of benches, people sat on three-legged chairs.

Nolan liked those simple restaurants more than the luxurious restaurants back on Earth. Even on Earth, whenever he saw a restaurant like this in the manhuas he read, he would think of it as beautiful.

"Amm…What is your order, sir?" A voice came from the side, interrupting Nolan's thoughts.

Nolan turned towards the voice and saw the waiter standing next to him. He had a tired look on his face and wore not-so-new clothes. He also had a white towel in his hands.

"Amm…" Only now did Nolan realize he had a problem. He didn't know what meal he could order in this world.

'Think, think, think!' He screamed in his mind, trying to remember something from the novels he read back on Earth. However, nothing came to his mind, and he couldn't think of any solution at the moment. As if his mind had become blank.

'Yeah.' A dish suddenly popped into his mind. A meal that every restaurant like this in the novels had In common.

"Noodles…" He said unsurely, praying in his heart that noodles existed in this world, and also thanked himself for reading many novels.

"Sir, the food will be ready in a few minutes." The waiter bowed politely and headed inside the restaurant.

"Sir, huh?" Nolan muttered in a low voice. "It's not so bad." It felt pleasing to be called sir, though the situation was a little laughable. What would the waiter think If he knew he called a stinky beggar sir?

'He wouldn't take a broom out of his as.s, right? Well, he didn't see I'm not wearing shoes, so my cover should still be alright.' Nolan thought with a smile on his face and closed his eyes.

'System, thank you for bringing me into this world. Thank you for freeing me from that hell."

["…"]

The system didn't react, but Nolan didn't expect it to either.

In a few minutes, his food arrived.

"Sir, that would be three copper coins." The waiter said as he placed the bowl of noodles on the table and a pair of chopsticks next to the bowl.

Nolan took three copper coins out of his sleeve and paid. The waiter took the money and headed to the next customer.

Though the bowl was nowhere near full, the smell of the warm noodles still turned Nolan's stomach upside down, and the hunger that accumulated for a long time came kicking in at once. He dug into the noodles.

Soon, the noodles, together with the water from the noodles vanished, leaving only an empty bowl. However, the hole he felt in his stomach didn't disappear.

He forgot about hearing some gossip and instead started ordering noodles and eating them. This continued till the waiter brought the tenth bowl of noodles to Nolan, and took his last copper coins.

He then finished the last bowl of noodles and placed it on the pile of bowls before him. He was finally full.

He stood up and left the restaurant.

He walked down the street satisfied, with his hands on his belly.

"Ahhhh!" He let out a long sigh. "Tonight I'm going to experience what they called: 'The earth is my bed and the sky my blanket'."

He headed toward the tree near the river, where he left his old clothes to dry. It took him about a half-hour to arrive there, and by the time he arrived, he was extremely sleepy.

He removed the branch hairpin and laid under the tree, on the soft, crunchy leaves. The moment he closed his eyes, he fell asleep.

[Ding]

He heard a system message the moment he opened his eyes. "What's this?" He rubbed his eyes sleepily.

He stretched and focused on the blue window before his eyes.

[Main Quest: The Beggar from Another World]

[Beg 20 times: 0/20]

[Reward: 3 allocation points, 25Exp]

[Repeatable Quest: 2/5]

[Accept]

[This quest cannot be declined and will be automatically accepted in 30 seconds]

As soon as Nolan read the quest, he immediately clicked accept, fearing that the reward would change. Though he was almost hundred percent sure the system trolled him last time, he still didn't want to risk it.

"Repeatable quest…" He muttered. "So I would get this quest in the next three days too?"

[Correct]

"I see."

Nolan didn't want to waste any more time, so he took the old clothes he washed yesterday. They have dried overnight, so he took off his black hanfu and put on the old clothes. Because he slept with untied hair, his hair was a little messy. He took the opportunity and messed it up even more, officially entering his beggar mode.

Then, he headed towards the busy street.

[Ding]

[You completed the Quest: The Beggar from Another World]

[You received: 3 allocation points, 25Exp]

After begging all day, Nolan finally completed the quest. He received the rewards with a smile on his face.

As he prepared to head to the tree near the river, another system message sounded.

[Ding]

[The skill Begging lv1 leveled up]

[Begging lv.1] – [Begging lv.2]

The smile on Nolan's face grew wider. He dared to say this was the greatest reward he could get. After all, he witnessed firsthand how much this skill helped him yesterday and today. But even though the leveling up of his skill was his greatest reward, he still couldn't wait to allocate the allocation points. However, he decided to wait until he got to the tree near the river.

After a half-hour of walking, he finally arrived under the tree near the river. By the time he arrived, it was sunset.

He sat under the tree and leaned on the trunk with his old clothes still on. He didn't plan to change because he still needed to wear them tomorrow, and it was not like he had any other clothes to change into for sleeping. Of course, he had the black hanfu, which he hid well in the yellowish leaves, but that cloth was not for sleeping.

"Status Window."

[Name: Nolan]

[Gender: Male]

[Age: 19 years, 1 day]

[Personality: Mentally unstable]

[Occupation: Beggar]

[Level 1]

[Exp: 40/100]

[Martial arts: None]

[Strength: 5]

[Stamina: 5]

[Agility: 5]

[Allocation points: 3]

"What do I put those allocation points into?" Nolan wondered. He thought of putting them into strength, but after careful consideration, he regarded that as useless. After all, he didn't know martial arts, so he would only be relying on brute strength.

After thinking about it for a long time and calculating various possibilities, he decided to put the allocation points into agility.

"The best of the Thirty-Six Stratagems, If everything else fails, run." He muttered with a smile as he clicked three times on the plus sign next to the agility stat.

[Agility: 8]

By the time Nolan finished adding the allocation points, the night had already fallen. He wanted to test how much faster he got, so he stood up.

He dashed forward.

He felt a difference in his body, but since it was dark, he couldn't see much, so he decided to test his speed again tomorrow morning.

With nothing else to do, he lay under the tree and closed his eyes. After some time, he fell asleep.

The next day

[Ding]

Again, just as he opened his eyes, the system message greeted him.

"System, close the quest window." He said as he slowly stood up. Before going through the repeatable quest again, Nolan decided to see how much faster he got.

He dashed forward.

"Wow!" He exclaimed in shock. Though not much faster, he could still tell the difference in his speed.

But though he was happy, he couldn't waste much time admiring how much faster he got.

"System, show me the quest."

[Main Quest: The Beggar from Another World]

[Beg 30 times: 0/30]

[Reward: Basic swordsmanship manual, Exp 20]

[Repeatable quest: 3/5]

Seeing the requirement to complete the quest, Nolan got a little worried. Though his skill level was up, he didn't know how much difference that would make. After all, he had to beg all day yesterday to complete the quest, and now he had to beg 30 times.

But he could do nothing about it. Even if the quest took two days to complete, he would still complete it because he had nothing to do anyway.

Without wasting more time, he headed to the streets and started begging.

[Ding]

[You completed the quest: The Beggar from Another World]

[You received: Basic swordsmanship manual, Exp 20]

Though he anticipated that there would be an improvement in his skill after it leveled up, the effect of his skill [Begging lv.2] still shocked Nolan. It took him only half-day to complete the quest.

Seeing the rewards, a smile spread on his face, but he wasn't in a hurry to read the swordsmanship manual. Since he still had half a day left, he wanted to go back under the tree, change into the black hanfu and then buy shoes with the hundred copper coins he had because his feet started hurting from walking barefoot.

The trip from the streets to the tree and back took around an hour, but it was worth it. Nolan now looked like a young master of some wealthy family. Of course, if you ignored the branch hairpin and the fact that he walked barefoot.

Nolan searched for a stall selling shoes for a long time before finally noticing a stall in the distance.

"Finally." He exclaimed as he quickened his pace towards the stall selling shoes.

A/N – When I say he has to beg 30 times. I mean that thirty people must give him something when he begged them. He can beg sixty people, but if only twenty of those gave him something, he wouldn't meet the requirement to complete the quest.

A/N –When I say he saw the rewards, I mean that a window appears before his eyes that has information about the completed quest and the rewards he received. He didn't literally see the rewards.

Sorry, while some of you might think this was unnecessary to say, I still felt the need to say this and avoid any possible misunderstandings.
