Chapter 2: She never left ICU room 2

While the patient had just transferred to a room in the Intensive Care Unit room 2. Doctor Shen never left the room, and constantly checked on her special patient. The room was under strict order that no one was to enter but only her and a skilled ICU nurse. She specifically assigned her most trusted friend, Mary Dill, to monitor him. Moreover, nurse Mary knew everything about her friend and her patient.

They were both chatting when all of a sudden, the cardiac monitor on bed 2 went flat. Both of them rushed through with Doctor Shen almost smashing the door open. Her eyes quickly landed on the man wincing in pain as he took off the wires from his chest.

Her gaze turned ice cold at the man and abruptly pushed him down with a gentle force. "Haven't I told you to rest? What are you doing?!"

The man, clearly taken by surprise. "Can't I take a sip of water?" he asked hoarsely.

Doctor Shen's brows furrowed, she glanced at the silicone tube beside this man's bed.

"He pulled out his NGT (Naso Gastric Tube)" Nurse Mary had whispered.

"Why did you pull out your tube? That's directly placed on your stomach. That's where you feed." she said explained.

The man only glared at her in response. Every inch of his body still ached, mostly was his head. Doctor Shen knew that although this man could recover at a fast rate, he would still be aching from the other injuries he had from the accident. Miraculously, though, no broken bones were shattered, just only his skull, and a pulled tendon on his right leg. She had removed all internal bleeding and cleanly sewed and bandaged them. After a month or so, there shouldn't be any marks of the accident. Except for the one that is already there, the one on his right eye that looked like lightning.

Her eyes lingered at the first wound she had treated before...

...

a week later, Jin Rae's trusted assistant, Alfred So, sat by his bed reporting every detail of what happened before he crashed. Doctor Shen listened by the corner with crossed arms listening intently as she monitored his cardiac monitor. She had warned Alfred that her patient needed more time to rest and not give him something to stress about.

Alfred once gave a glance to Doctor Shen, and then to his boss who only gave a lazy nod as he continued. Afterward, he then reported what he had missed in the company during his stay in the hospital. Doctor Shen moved to the other side of the bed and checked his Infusion pump and plumset.

Alfred almost cracked a smile at the gesture but was immediately stabbed with a glare from the man on the bed. He quickly swallowed his saliva to prevent himself from laughing.

When Doctor Shen finished, she left the room silently as she did enter a while ago. Alfred, being the closest friend to Jin Rae, didn't miss the opportunity to ask: "So she saved your ass again."

it wasn't a question, but Jin-Rae balled his fist thinking if he has the strength to punch the tooth out of his friend from mocking him--he already did.

The half-Chinese half-American friend of his stood from his chair and fixed his necktie from his expensive black suit. He towered over his friend with his incredibly long legs and then ran his pale fingers to his clean-cut black hair. He took off his glasses and stretched his back.

"Did you know that it was difficult to get in here the past few days? I, Alfred So, A personal assistant to her patient, wouldn't let me in!" He chuckled. "Did you see how she looked at me? My family would've held a funeral by now."

Jin-Rae only stared at him with blank eyes. He couldn't speak yet, but he managed to sip in his green-colored juice in a cup. Specifically concocted by Doctor Shen, but to under strict orders was he to find out.

"You know, she never left Icu room 2." Alfred pretended to be aloof as he scratched his chin.

Jin-Rae didn't pay him any attention as he sipped the familiar green juice. Even if no one would tell him who made it, he already knew from the look of it who had instructed him to only drink this icky stuff. He knows because he's seen her drink this.
