I have to find the rune gem, but the question now is how? All I know is that the rune gem is far away from here, but how far? According to the book, it is far away, but it didn't tell me how far away it has to be before it can start glitching.
Maybe I should just stay here and wait till it glitches into the other space. No, that would be a bad idea. What if I glitch in and don't glitch out? Then I will be trapped here. I should just check outside or maybe upstairs. The book can mean far in a way that doesn't mean very far.
I hobbled upstairs because of my leg. I peeped first to see if Jonah and Amelie were there so as not to attract attention to myself. Thankfully, they weren't. Then I went up and ran to the bathroom, cleaned up the wound but didn't dress it up so they wouldn't notice. I also cleaned up the mess from the blood around the living room and in the trapdoor room.
I locked up the room and started looking for the rune key. I was scattering everything in sight, but I had an excuse ready to tell Jonah or Amelie if either of them caught me. It wasn't in the living room, and I had begun to arrange it back. I moved up to my room—well, I had to check my room. I wasn't the one staying there before.
There was nothing to be found again, just like in the living room. I had checked the living room and everything downstairs, and the only place left was Amelie's and Jonah's room—a risky move, but I had no choice.
"Knock, knock."
"Come in," Amelie spoke.
I opened the door and walked in. This was the first time I was entering their room.
"Is there a problem, Anon?" Jonah questioned.
"Well, the thing is, I have been cleaning up, and it just remains your room."
"Oh, you would like to clean our room?" Amelie asked.
"Yes, I do. I've cleaned the living room and the rest, just your room is left."
"But we clean the room ourselves. Don't worry; you can go and rest now. You have done enough."
No, this wouldn't be enough to push me away.
"No, I insist."
Knock knock (someone knocked at the main door).
"I'll get it, Jonah. If he insists, let him. There's no harm," Amelie voiced.
Amelie went down to open the door.
"I've already started working and cleaning everywhere. I wouldn't be at rest knowing I didn't clean the whole place."
"Well, if you insist, you can. We are family now; we shouldn't stop you. I'll go down too and check who that is. When you're done, let us know so we can come back in," he accepted.
I was amazed. "Thank you. I'll make it sparkling clean."
Jonah proceeded downstairs, and I started what I came here to do. I scattered but didn't destroy anything, checking every nook and cranny of the room, yet I couldn't find anything. I arranged everything back and cleaned up the room.
I went downstairs and told them I was done, and the conversation between Jonah and I started.
"Oh, okay, so we can go in now?"
"Yes, you can. I made sure everything was clean."
"Okay, thank you."
I proceeded to go to the bathroom, but it was locked, and there was a cloth hanging on the hanger there. I went and asked, "So who came?"
"Oh, um... well, it was Teresa who came," Jonah said.
"What does she want?" I was furious. She still has the nerve to come here?
"Her water supply broke, and she wanted to take a bath."
"Okay."
"Sorry she's here, but we had no choice. She's the one that sold us the place," Amelie said.
"No, there's no problem in helping out your landlady."
I went downstairs furiously, wanting to give her a piece of payback by tearing her clothes. And as I picked up the cloth, the most shocking thing happened.
Right in front of me, what I believed to be the rune gem fell to the ground.
I picked it up to see if it was the one. Yes, it looked similar to the other gems, but just full. She was still in the bathroom, so I quickly went to the living room and opened up the rug. Luckily, I still had the other two gems with me, and I placed them in their rightful positions. As I placed in the one I believed to be the rune gem, the door opened. I was astonished.
Before it opened up, the edges lit up, showing a luminous light moving from one crescent moon to the other.
The view was incredibly remarkable. I opened it up, but what I saw was not what I was expecting. It was the same. I wasn't sure what was happening. "Maybe it's the view from where I'm standing. Let me go down," I said. I started climbing down, and it was still the same—filled with magical harvest and crops. But the moment I stepped on the ground, the whole atmosphere changed.
From the point I stood, everything changed—first dematerializing, then rearranging itself into a new and different environment. Everything was wonderful. The wooden wall turned to stone, the ground as well, and many other things. It was extraordinary, and it amazed me until I came to notice some terrifying things. There were torturing weapons and a weird-looking clock.
Suddenly, everywhere became dark. I could barely see anything, but one thing I could make out was that piece of broken glass that pierced me the last time I was here. I went and picked it up, and from what I could tell, it had fallen from a table in front of me. It looked like the glass had been holding a liquid—a pinkish-looking liquid. I bent down to get a better look at it. "Ewww, this stinks," I said, disgusted by the smell.
"But what is this substance?" I was unaware and was about to touch it.
"Can't you be smart for once coughs?"
I looked up but could barely see who was talking. The voice was familiar, but no, it was not Teresa.
I went closer to see who it was.
"Who's there?" I questioned.
"Just in... a matter coughs of short duration, you can't recognize my voice coughs."
I went closer and closer, and the very person in front of me was the one I had been searching for since I got here.
A MIRACLE AT FOOT...
It was Angel. The moment she saw me, she smiled. I was so happy I was out of words.
"So, you wouldn't help me out or say anything?" I looked at her closely and noticed that she was tied up and still had wounds. My God, she looks like she's on the brink of DEATH...
