After observing the outer settlements for another few days, David was sure of two things. One was that all the young and capable berserkers were in the underground settlement, and the other was that the hostages were also kept in the underground settlement, or whatever it was down there. For now, David assumed that there was whole settlement down there.
He concluded that the hostages were also kept underground because in his few days of observation, he did not find any prison cells or dungeons or caves that would be large enough to confine around 200 people.
And from the way the outer settlement was void of any trace of technology, David also assumed that whatever progress that the berserkers made in the field of technology, they did that recently. Or to be more precise, he thought that they achieved it in the recent four years after they held the knowledgeable and skilled crews in their captivity.
