Chapter 49

Reaching the sitting room, Melissa and Maxwell found Pathy waiting for them. Pathy quickly rose from the couch when her eyes fell on the two of them. Maxwell, seeing the tension between the two, spoke up, trying to ease the situation. "Mellisa, please don't vent your anger on her. I have to go out for some work, but hopefully by the time I come back, you will be done talking." With that, Maxwell left the house, leaving Pathy and Melissa alone.

Mellisa walked to the couch and sat down with Pathy following her. She nervously bit her lip, not wanting to meet Pathy's gaze. "I'm sorry for venting on you earlier," she said softly. "I was too angry to think properly. I didn't mean to be so rude."
