My Hero Life In Shambles

It's been five decades since the human race has begun manifesting superhuman powers known as "Abilities". With 93% of the populace possessing some kind of Ability. Because of the rise of powers, sports have been become obsolete in comparison to the new sport which was invented called "The World Superior Series" The WSS is a competition of five versus five last team standing wins. The only way for the WSS to be played is with a new artificial arena system where all damage is repaired in seconds thanks to Nano-technology. 

I really hope I can get to that level someday. Since we're on the topic of me let's just get this out of the way so I don't have to drag this on later.

My name is Ezra Tenrai, I'm fourteen, and I have "acquired heterochromia", my right eye is purple while my left eye is a feint green with a oval-like slit in the center... When I was little I thought my life was pretty good living in America but when my dad left then everything got flipped upside down. As a result of my dad leaving my mom moved us back to Japan where she was from. I was so mad at him for leaving that when I looked in the mirror one day I saw him in my head, lost my cool, and stabbed myself in my left eye. The reason I saw him in my head was because I was born with his eye color. Both of my eyes were violet colored and I resented that, but when I went to stab myself my mom caught me right as I punctured my left eye and rushed me to the hospital, where they saved my eye from going blind.

Now that you know that, let's move past that ok? I currently have shoulder length coral orange hair. I'm below average height for my class but I'm not the shortest. I do have an ability that is pretty handy and apparently quite rare in the world. My ability is Teleportation. I know it's not the flashiest power in the world but it's still useful ok? If I was in a one on one fight I could flash around here and there and put up a good fight...in theory...Look I don't have the best control over my ability but in my defense I haven't really had any training with it. My mom works long hours at the hospital as a surgeon thanks to her ability. We have an indoor gym in our house so I was able to at least work on my body. Anyways, I can only teleport somewhere around ten times before my left eye hurts and I get a splitting headache.

I had a pretty normal childhood with it just being me and my mom. After we moved to Japan it was pretty hard adjusting to a whole new country after learning English. After the first couple years of living in Japan I was able to learn the language and adapt in school pretty seamlessly. I didn't grow up with friends, I usually just did my work and went home. There was nothing really to my childhood besides that.

Since middle school started everyone in my class wanted to go to CSA, It's the best academy for people wanting to be Hitmen. Hitmen are participants in the WSS. CSA stands for Call Sign Academy. A Call Sign is a nickname for Hitmen. For example if someone used fire they would be Call Sign - Firestorm. It's kind of like a superhero name compared to their real name.

Ever since I was little I've dreamed of being a Hitman. My mom on the other hand didn't want me to be one since it's dangerous. But hey it's my dream not hers right?

My mom's name is Touka Tenrai, She works as a surgeon at the hospital fifteen minutes away. She has light green eyes with a very dark blue circle in the center. The blue in her eyes is because of her ability. It's called Double Vision, she can see twice as far as normal people and can see finer details as if like she is a human telescope. Not all abilities are made for combat. My mom is about five foot eleven inches with a slender build. She has black hair in a wolfcut style.

Ok, enough talking about my family.

Today is the first day at my new high school. In high school you can participate in clubs and sports like any other school but for the first time in our specific high school they have finally been aloud to make a Series team and I'm gunning to make the team. The school I enrolled in is called Jihi No Hikari High school. That translates to mercy and light. 

I walked in the front gate of the school and there were students everywhere. Clubs and sports teams are trying to get new members and I'm not interested in any of them. I read on the schools webpage that their Series team will be holding tryouts in the smaller gymnasium. As I'm walking there I stop to look at the middle of the school which had a beautiful garden. There were flowers everywhere and in patterns depending on each section.

As I stand there taking in the sights I see a girl sitting on a bench listening to music. She has blonde hair in a ponytail with one strand of pink hair falling on her face. As I started to walk passed her I couldn't stop staring at how good looking she was. Don't get me wrong, I've seen some beautiful women before but not as naturally appealing to me as her. She lifted her head to look at me and I froze. 

She took the the earbud out of her ear while looking at me. "Is there something you want?" My brain was working a million miles a second and I got nervous and blurted out "Who me? I was just appreciating your beauty, I mean the uh... beauty of the garden. Bye." After that I ran away at full speed to get away from that conversation. 

I got lost when I ran away and actually ended up at the small gym. There was a small crowd in front of the door. I made my way through them to then see a bigger crowd in the gym with a table of three teachers sitting behind it with a sign on the front that says "World Superior Series High School Team Tryouts!"

There is a small line of students in front of the table but as I got through the line and signed up, a chill ran down my spine. As I turn around there's a kid who has a wolf cub on his shoulder. He has dark blue hair down to his eyes and a little messy, enough to make it look like it was cut like that. His eyes are blue as well. On his neck he has a tattoo that looks like kanji of some kind going around it.

I make eye contact with the wolf when he wasn't paying attention, just staring at it enviously since I've never had a familiar. Ok here we go again. Familiars are beings that are contracted pets. They come in all shapes and sizes and races, usually people go for cat like or dog like familiars. 

While I was staring at his wolf cub, the kid caught me and started talking to me. "Can you please stop staring at Yuju like that, his attention span is longer than yours?" After he asked the question I turned to him. "What does that even mean, anyway I've never seen a wolf familiar before where'd you get him?" 

"I didn't get anybody. He is my friend not a familiar, and you don't need to know that." he said condescendingly.

"Why are you being so mean to me, we just met?" I asked with my arms out.

"Ok look, you plan to tryout for the team right? If you score higher than me then I'll answer whatever questions you have. Otherwise just fade into the background like everyone else!" As he finished talking he walked past me.

"Alright. You're on pretty boy!" I said turning to watch him walk away.
