Someone had made changes to my suit. I'm not going to lie it kind of made me look more legit. The changes weren't anything too serious. The gloves went above my elbows now. Now I had knee pads that went from below my knees to me knees and elbow pads. The jumpsuit was pretty much the same except the blue was just darker. The last change was the belt the edge of the wing buckle was just sharper now.
Yesterday Deku had given me something. He said since i'm a kicker and puncher I would need something to make my kicks more powerful. That something was iron soles. He said he had them while he was a first year in U.A. and since we had the same quirk then they should work just as good on me as they did for him. He called that form of fighting "Shoot style".
Someone knocked on my open room door.
" Put you suit on," Hiroshi told me. " Your going on patrol with me."
I put on my hero suit and went out my room. My mom and dad hadn't seen my suit yes. I couldn't wait to see the look on there faces.
When I walked into the living room my mother gasped. She ran towards me and made rapid hand movements.
" Daiki, my baby!" Tears started to form in her eyes.
" I- mom please, your don't have to cry," I told her. " Please don't."
" You look amazing, Daiki!," my dad told me.
I suddenly remembered all of those times people told me I should just give up on being a hero. The only person who said the words " You can become a hero" was Deku.
I smiled at my mom and dad.
" I'm not "Daiki" anymore," I said. " My name is Phoenix X. Phoenix for short."
Patrol didn't really go as I expected at first. Many girls were eyeing me as I walked past.
" Can I get a picture?," one of them would ask.
" Uhm, s-sure," I would say nervously.
There was a guy who tried to shoplift, Hiroshi let me take care of that. I told the shop keeper it was no big deal but he gave me ¥3,271.32 anways.
" Even the tiniest things are a hero's job to take care of," Hiroshi told me as we began to walk more. " Like helping a old woman cross the street. No matter how small or big the problem is it's always a hero's duty to help out."
Just then a guy who was running bumped into me and fell.
" Are you alright?," Hiroshi asked the man.
I couldn't understand the man because he was talking to fast.
" Please, calm down. It's alright, speak a bit slower I can't understand you," I told him.
" V-Villain!," were the only words he said as he started running again.
A man with a red leather jacket (no shirt) and black leather pants came out of a building that was currently on fire. Behind him was some sort of giant dog creature with long fangs.
" This is too easy!," The man said. " What's the point of heroes if they can't even stop a robbery?"
I recognized this guy. He was on TV once. He managed to get away from Red Riot after commiting a crime. The name he goes by is Ace.
" Oh it's this guy," Hiroshi's voice sounded kind of bored.
" Did you run into him before or something?," I asked.
" Yeah. Why you wanna try and take him on?"
" H-Huh? W-Wait me take on a villain? Your kidding," I said.
" Why not. Doesn't matter if it's your first time. Look, I've fought plenty of villians. More than you've seen, Go ahead before he get's away. I'll be right behind you if anythings gets too out of hand." He gave me a thumbs up.
" Alright then."
I charged up to 8% percent. And charged at the villain. It seemed like he saw me coming because he sent a punch to my stomache which hurt like hell. I thought he was trying to send me back but he was sending me up in the air. I went up atleast twenty feet into the air.
" Damn you heroes," the villian cursed. " Don't get in my way!"
The villian got on his dog thing and headed down the street. I followed.
I didn't really have much practice using raptor rush to leap into the air but so far I was doing pretty good. I managed to get infront of the villain and catch him by suprise. I kicked his creature in the face. Wire and pieces of metal cam out of it's eye that now was dangling. It looked like it was starting to malfuntion.
When I landed on the ground my soles were smoking. They were really coming in handy.
" Look what you did!" Ace yelled at me. " You stupid kid."
He got off his robot dog. He tried to kick me in the face but I was able to dodge it just barely. Figuring out this guys quirk was harder than I thought. Maybe he had some sort of super strength.
I tried to kick him but he dodged and jumped into the air. He started to had back down towards me but I jumped too.
"He probally thinks I only kick with my fighting style," I thought.
I saw he had his hands ready to block my kick. Right when we were one foot away from eachother I switched my move. I pulled my fist back and punched him in the head as soon as he swiped his left hand. I felt my body power rise up to 20%. My bones were straining so I couldn't hold it for longer than two seconds. That was just enough to send Ace to the ground. I had done enough to knock him out cold.
I don't know how this guy got away from the pro heroes. He was way too easy to predict.
" You need to work alot harder to take me down," I mumbled.
" I knew you could do it!" I heard Hiroshi say behind me.
I turned around. " Yeah well it was probally just beginners luck," I rubbed the back of my head.
Suddenly, news reporters started to gather around.
" Aren't you that kid from the Sports Festival?" A woman asked. " How did you become such a good fighter?"
" This is the part where you run," Hiroshi whispered in my ear.
When I got home I went up to my room and started to take off my hero suit. I had a couple of bruises on my biceps and rib area. I knew working as a hero would only get hardr but I was ready to face whatever challenges the world through at me. I pictured myself as a pro hero in the mirror and smiled.
