New, Improved and Painful

Jason jolts awake gasping for air at the sound of his alarm clock. His clothes are soaked in sweat as are his bed sheets. Feeling rather gross gets out of bed to go shower. "That was a weird dream. As if some one could give powers to another person." Jason could still feel the strength of the woman's fingers as she grasped his face. And even though he knows he just woke up he is extremely tired. But that's nothing a hot shower can't fix. So he showers.

As he steps out of the shower he feels refreshed though still sore from the class battles yesterday. Drying off and dressing himself Jason goes to the kitchen to cook himself some breakfast. He goes to the stove and preps a pan for cooking. As he does this his mom walks into the kitchen rubbing her eyes then stops staring are the scene before her.

"Uhh Jason. How are you doing that?" The camera on her phone clicks snapping Jason out of his daze ingredients and knives falling to the ground.

"Woah what the hell!" He jumps back rather startled by the raining food and knives. "What just happened?"

"You were... like... floating that stuff around you." His mom says in surprise.

At that moment Jason realizes he didn't move to turn off the alarm clock. Nor did he bend down an turn on the water for his shower. He bent down and grabbed a pan and the cooking spray was already in his other hand.

"Mom. Was there any news yesterday about a massacre near the school?" Jason asks.

"No, but there was something like that early this morning. How'd you know about that?" His mom replies.

"I didn't I just got a text from George earlier. I... uh.... I've gotta go mom. I'll see you tonight." Jason says and rushes out the front door.

As he runs down the street he pulls out his phone and calls George. It rings three times and just as it's about to go to voice mail George picks up and answers in a sleepy voice. "Hello?"

"George! I'm coming over. Meet me in the woods behind your house. Call Lillian too!" Jason practically screams into the phone.

"Jeezus man. It's four in the morning." A dejected sounding George responds.

"I know but I need both of you to help me figure something out. So please hurry I'm almost there." Jason says then hangs up the phone. As Jason books it down the street he realizes that he is going faster than he usually runs. "What is happening to me?"

The second the question leaves his mouth a figure steps out in front of him stopping and catching him. "Are you alright sir?" An British sounding male voice says.

"Oh shit... what.... how did... who..... ummm... Yeah I'm fine. Where did you come from? What are you doing here?" Jason asks panting and very confused.

"Ah! I am part of the book. And because you have the book I am bound to you Master Jason."

"The book what book?"

"All in good time. I do believe you set up a meeting with one George and one Lillian. Is that correct?" The figure seems to be writing down a list.

"Uh yeah. That's right." Now that Jason can get a better look at the figure he can see a tall dark haired man with a neatly trimmed goatee.

"Well then. You had best get moving lad. And before you ask. My name is Jasper. Now move along." Jasper shoes him off then disappears.

"I am so fucking confused. What the hell is happening?" Jason mumbles to himself then takes off running for George's house.

Arriving at George's house around the same time as Lillian the two walk back to the woods behind George's house. After about five minutes of walking in the woods they find George. "So what was so important that you shouted in my ear at four in the morning?"

"Well ok. So this is hard to explain. But I have... new abilities." Jason says.

"What like new shadow and light abilities?" Lillian asks.

"Well it's gotta be. You can't get new powers." George responds.

"Jasper. Can you come out?"

"What do you require Master Jason?" Jasper says appearing out of nowhere.

"Would you care to explain what exactly is happening to me?" Jason asks.

"Would I care to? No. Will I? Yes." Jasper takes a deep breath then continues. "I am the keeper of the tome. The tome is a collection of quirks that you can learn to use in time at the moment there are three available to you giving you three new quirks total. One is the tome itself. You can begin to learn more about your new abilities there. Two is Butler otherwise know as yours truly. I will help teach you how to use these powers should you need help. And you get to choose the third. You have been given a taste of two of the three you are allowed to choose from. Invisible Limbs. This gives the user  phantom limbs that act of their own accord but in the best interest of the user. Enhancement is the second you felt while running. It enhances your physical abilities including your quirk. The third is called Grix. This is a temperamental quirk. This quirk allows for the creation of portals. But these portal, if you are not careful can get you into quite a mess. Now Master Jason the choice is yours. The other quirks will be on lockdown until I deem you worthy of wielding them so choose carefully."

"This isn't possible. I'm going inside." George says with a scoff.

Jasper pops up in front of George "Youwill want to watch this." And Jasper turns George around. "Now pick Master Jason. Invisible Limbs, Enhancement, or Grix. Which is it?"

"I guess Grix sounds pretty cool. So I choose Grix." Jason answers.

"Well let's test it out shall we?" Jasper asks. Jason gives a nod. "Right all you need to do is focus on where you want to go. And a portal should open and bring you where you wanted to go. If you aren't careful you could end up anywhere."

"Ok I'll try to go to the house." Jason replies. As Jason focuses on the door of the house, which is just barely visible, a portal begins to open. Now whatever it was that Jason was expecting it wasn't a oval-shaped reality breaking black with a kaleidoscope of colored star like dots.

With a sly little grin "Why don't you step through Master Jason?" And so Jason steps through and face plants right into the back door of George's house. "Ah I must've forgot. The portal will put you as close to your desired destination as possible at the same time it increases your speed by 5 upon exit." Jasper says rematerializing next to a prone Jason.
