Chapter 9
(Recap: After the wedding James leaves for a business trip but due to unforeseen circumstances the plane had to land for an hour before the journey continues to its destination)
James! James! Wake up.. please wake up the plane sounds like it’s going to crash and if this is my last hours I might as well spend them in good company right?
James suddenly wakes up from a deep sleep.. “ my gosh I had the strangest dream Ashley, I dreamt the plane was about to crash and you were calling out to me.. but here we are all safe on the ground I guess.
What can I say James you.. you always seem to be on my mind as the years passed so did my feelings but here you are again and so are these feelings.. it could be feelings of hope or feelings of love. (Blushing). But Ashley, James stares in shock, can this be real? Do I feel the same feelings or is it just feelings attached to old memories of the past.
UUhhhh.. would you like to get a coffee and talk some more about these feelings Ashley? I do really need the company as we still have an hour wait till we take off again. Well you see James I have had this crush on you since the day you saved me from those bullies
Flashback
Where are you dad? I am sorry sweetheart I am still stuck in a meeting try calling mom she will be able to pick you up from school, I have to go now . Why didn’t he call me sooner I could have went home with Nia.
Oh look what we have here boys says Vincent the school bully. Did daddy forget to pick his precious princess ? Vincent what do you think you are doing? Is that the way to talk to my girlfriend? Your… your girlfriend James? I didn’t know you were dating anyone. Vincent I like to keep my private life private beside I spend time with my girlfriend after school. I think is time for you and your minions to be going home right? (James says with his hands on his waist) Yes well goodbye and sorry for troubling you madam
James why are you still at school so late? We have a rugby match on Saturday so coach wanted us to train one last time because Friday we need to rest. Oh I see thank you so much for saving me from Vincent but why did you tell him that I am your girlfriend? James you are popular so why would the most wanted bachelor want to date me? Well Ash maybe I think it’s time to lose that bachelor status and I know just the person. Really who is she, is she one of the bossy cheerleaders? Of course not I don’t like the way they all look at me as if I am some kind of trophy for them to win besides I already like someone. Do I know her? Ashley I have liked you since the day we met would you like to be my girlfriend?
Present time
Ashley we dated a really long time ago so why do you still have feelings for me and if you had feeling for me then why did you date Roger? I think our relationship only ended because you finished school and you were going to university 2 states away besides long distance was too hard for us. I still remember the parting words I said to you James:
As I look up at these dark rain clouds I know in my heart that a love like our will never last as soon as the sun comes out. A love so daring that it puts the moons light to shame. All I ever wanted was to tell the world yes love is real, it makes you feel good about yourself yet all it takes is a moment to crush. Love has no meaning unless it is said out loud. If only I could go back in time to when I had you. All it takes is a moment for all my dreams to come true. I no longer feel the warmth of you touch. All I feel is an emptiness that brings no comfort. All I have ever wanted was to feel like a princess, your princess yet all I got was heartache. Is it too much to ask dear Lord for a love that fills me up like cotton candy. All I ever wanted was a love that will last a lifetime, a love that makes all your worries disappear , a love that doesn’t discriminate between who loves more, a love that brings stability, a love the comes out of fairy tales, a love that never ends. I think of you night and day yet as much as I wish upon a shooting star you would never be mine I hope you are happy you have successfully turned me into a love sick puppy, a monster that now is a shell of who I was with you. With my broken heart I wish you every bit of happiness that life throws your way stolen from the depths of my soul. To a love like this all I can say is I wish I never felt a love so strong that kills me every day, I wish I never felt a love that destroyed me the moment you left.
Present time
As for dating Roger he was the new student after you left, since I was assigned to show him around the school we became good friends. One day when he asked me do be his girlfriend and I thought of you, about the way you asked me so I said yes but afterwards I realised I said yes because I thought I was with you. So you are saying that Roger was a rebound for you? Yes
(Ladies and gentlemen we thank you for your time. The flight to New York will be taking off in the next 20 minutes please take your seats.)
Ash thank you for spending time with me I really wished we had more time together but you have to get back to work. After a long flight I reach the hotel that I will be staying at. As soon as I check in I get ready for bed since we had supper on the flight.
Ashley p.o.v
As I reach my hotel room I call my manager. Hello Mason sorry to disturb you so late, It is not a problem I just reached my room. Mason I wanted to know if I could take leave for a week? Since I never took my leave last year I have over four month’s leave. Yes Ashley I was going to call you about that once I settled in the room. I have no problem with that in fact I suggest you take 2 weeks since you have not taken off even for one day I need you to rest I know that not being able to attend your best friend’s wedding has really left your heart broken and I thank you for the sacrifice that you made. You chose to take my flight because I had a family emergency so I will see you after two weeks. Are you going home or do you want to rest in New York? I have a friend of mine here at the moment I would like to spend time with him for a while before I go home. Okay Ashley not a problem enjoy your rest I’ll see you in two weeks’ time. Finally I am on leave after so long. I need to call James to tell him the good news. Hello says James hi James its Ashley, did you reach your hotel safely ash? Yes I have thank you James I am off for the next two weeks do you want to meet up for coffee tomorrow? Ashley I have a meeting at 9 am I should be done by 12 so how about 1 pm? Sure sounds good night see you soon .
