Meeting an odd team

Adam was sitting on his bed with both legs crossed. His energy cycled around every part of his body. He felt the surge of energy in his body go wild before becoming stable. Adaption to the increase in energy in supers was a very critical point to note. If a super fails to adapt to his new level of energy, his body wouldn't be able to withstand the force and could damage the internal organs of the super.

"So this is how sharp C Ranks are. Now, I'm C Rank, nobody would dare to mess with me. Besides, killing people levels higher than I am is my greatest hobby. Don't you think so, Hailey?"

The quiet environment became chaotic immediately after Adam's statement. His cold aura made the person hiding in the dark shiver like they were left in a cold ice box. Hailey had been hiding in Adam's bedroom with hope of assassinating him when he was off-guard. When she heard he just broke through to C Rank some seconds ago, she felt scared, but she still had hope because she believed she was still a level higher. As a C+ super, there was nothing to be scared of when facing C ranks. But Adam had killed her brother when he was still a D+ super, which was an anormally. And after few weeks, he was now C rank. His level of progress was strange even to her.

"How did you know I was here all this while? Y...You knew I was coming for you all this time and pretended nothing happened?" Hailey, though still in shock, held her knife well, ready for any fierce combat. Adam was too unpredictable that she didn't know his next course of action. It was better to play it safe if she were to win.

"Of course, miss beautiful. Hailey, I might not know you that well, but seeing you ones is enough to know how you think, behave, and operate. What I said earlier were true. If only I was despicable, I would go back on my words and kill you as a threat. But how would your father feel when he realises his daughter died in the gands of her protector? Sad? Or miserable?"

Adam took a step forward with his dark eyes still maintaining contact with Hailey's scarlet eyes. Each step increased the pressure in the room and it became even much colder. Hailey wasn't sweating buckets or feeling the shivering chills in the spine anymore. She was now scared off he wits.

"Don't come any closer! I'm begging you, don't! Or..." Hailey was interrupted by Adam's cold voice. His behaviour changed dramatically from a cunning man to a ruthless killer.

"Or else what, Hailey? You don't dare do that. and besides, I won't die to petty weapons. Those are just playthings in my front."

Adam disappeared and appeard in front of Hailey. He then pinned her to the wall at the other end of the room. With her hand held tight by Adam's palms, and her body pinned to the wall with his well built figure, she couldn't move or do anything. She felt suffocated and her fast heartbeat spoke for her. She was scared of this ruthless guy. They were nearly same age, but his demeanor made him look like a vetetan in every aspect of society.

"You fear me like I'm a demon, don't you? Well, I'm no ordinary demon. I'm the devil himself. You should fear and worship me if you want to continue living. And also, you will be spared today because of your father's face"

Adam placed his right index finger on Hailey's forehead before dis appearing from his room, leaving her alome to think about her actions and decide her new path. The only option left was to fear Adam and worship him as her god, or die in his hands for opposing him. What should he choose?

Morning came very quickly and everywhere in the reapers territory was up and lively. Reapers were free to do anything they wished, and sexual relationships were also one of it.

Adam got ready for his morning stuff and befan his daily quests early in the morning. He was already in his newly issued reaper uniform, which was black. The collars were well embroided and the R3 symbol was written on the left breast area of the uniform. It was skin tight, but comfortable for combat.

"Cadet agent Lebron, Report to the Unit head office ASAP!" A loud AI voice rang at this region of the planet where the reapers were based at. Adam disn't question why he was needed ASAP by the Unit head, but he was about to know when he reached his office.

Beep! Beep!

The alarm in an office sounded immediately it detected a person outside. After a thirty second delay, the door automatically opened. Adam wasn't really amazed by human technology. They were only good at turning technology into weapon that even the military lacks little luxury.

"It's good to finally meet you, Cadet agent Lebron! I received direct orders from the general to assign a ranked mission for you to complete. It seems he thinks highly of you."

Commander Loyde Dawnson, Unit head of the reaper unit spoke with superiority in his tone. He was a middle aged man with short dark hair. His grey eyes scruntinized Adam, trying hard to find flaws, but it was to no avail.

"I do not fear even monsters, nor do I fear the strong, Sir! I'll receive and complete my missions with honor, Sir!" Neither did Adam stutter, no did he faulter. The pressure exuding commander Loyde was immense, but wasn't enough to shake his will.

Commander Loyde looked at Adam with annoyance after hearing his statement. He was annoyed for the fact that Adam didn't succumb to his pressure and also had balls to garuanty his success in a mission.

"Well your mission is very complicated. You're to continue your training as part of Shadow team. Your new team leader has received the news,but doesn't know you. So you head to the fourth section to meet with your team. Dismissed!"

Adam wasn't given time to voice his grievance. He just saw his vision go blurr, and the next thing, he was outside the office building.

"How strong is the Commander? I wish I will reach his level of power in the future, but I have other goals. I better don't get on his bad side. I'm not sure I have the power to beat my opponents nowadays."

Adam reported immediately to section four, But what he saw when he entered the building disgusted him. People from the reaper unit partied in here like it was a club, many girls exchanged bodily fluid publicly like they didn't care while others tried their best to get other attractive boys to pounce on them. This was the most unruly society he had ever seen.

"Hey bro! It's you agaim!" Adam was interrupted by a friendly voice from behind. The person patted his shoulders as he stood before Adam. "Never thought I would see you here in a short time. I knew you were a talent from the start."

Caleb Kristoffer, alias CK was an acquaintance who he met all of a sudden and didn't see him again. Now that he saw someone who looked okay, he felt much comfortable.

"CK, right? I'm Adam. I came here on orders to report to the leaser of the shadow team. But here doesn't look like a place for official duties." Adam said with a cold face. He was still on the bad side and left hanging, trying to tolerate these crazy act which were meant to be private, being done publicly.

CK didn't care and went straight in, while gesturing for Adam to follow behind him. After maneuvering his way through the crowd, they entered a room where they met four more people in it.

"Agent Lebron, this is the shadow squad and I'm the captain here." CK said with a proud face, but he noticed that there was an explosion brewing in his private room.

Adam had noticed Hailey in the room immediately he entered, and they had been maintaining eye contact from start. Adam didn't show any emotional indications, but Hailey's were filled with anger and resentment.

There were also two beautiful ladies on the other end of the room. They were also as attractive as Hailey was, but were very jovial in nature. They looked at Adam seductively, trying hard to get his attention, but his ignorance towards them made them pout.

"I'm Koman Shunt, the vice-captain." The silent dude who was always quiet stood up and shaked hands with Adam before sitting again. The other ladies also introduced themselves. The girl with the purple hair was Carla, while the other with her long blond hair and scarlet eyes was named Dyanna.

Adam wore a bogus smile as he looked at the lovely beauties, but his aura remsined fixed on Hailey. He was still confused about why he was put in a squad the same hers.

"As the No. 7 squad, we receive good resources from the higher ups. As long as we rise in squad ranking, we get more resources. We also partake in squad drills to make our squad good and also we play VR combat games at the deck during our free ours.

Contrary to CK's expectations, Adam was unmoved by his words and remained calm at all times. He never said he needed to do irrelevant stuffs that doesn't help him, but takes a lot of precious time.

"I don't play games, and I'm no team guy. I like the idea of going solo. Also, I won't join in team gatherings and team events, but I'll take mission with the team's name and complete it solo."
