Prologue

With my legs aching and a sharp pain in my chest, I limp through the evergreen. My inventory full of logs from this morning, I am now in search of something to suffice my hunger. Day after day I gather resources in an endless cycle. I have lost track of how long I have been here. First it was days, then weeks, then months. I stood for a moment, reminiscing the days I could relax at home, but I had to be stuck in this stupid apocalypse, with these stupid zombies, and with this stupid ring. I started to get lost in my head again, cursing at my luck but I snapped myself out of the helpless haze. The sun was starting to set upon the horizon, with the occasional chirps from the crickets. With a sigh I headed on the route home, my pockets empty and my stomach still rumbling. With the crunch of gravel underneath my shoes, I imagined myself like any normal kid should at my age. Walking home, after a long day of school. It made me feel some sort of comfort, which was rare in my situation. My perfect little world soon faded away, when I heard a groan coming from behind me. As I whipped my head around, The world around me started to disappear , and soon blackened out.
