My Friend and I Reincarnated Into a Tragedy Dating Game

So I've been playing this shitty dating game along with my friend. Why is it shitty? Well, none of the damn endings are happy! You're destined to get a sad ending no matter what choices you make. But for some reason, we couldn't stop ourselves from talking about it or searching for some other ending. Ah... but I guess it doesn't matter since both of us died saving some random people we never met. ...Wait, why did I reincarnate into the villain of the shitty dating game? And my friend reincarnated as the hero? Is this... a good thing? Fuck, Nathan why are you beating yourself up? We need to make a real plan here!

Letting Go

I raised my eyebrow, a tad bit surprised. Not that Nathan had declared he had been thinking in general, but that it apparently occurred more often while I wasn't there. Normally, I'd have believed all his thoughts would be centered around becoming more powerful in any sort of way.

For his thoughts to actually diverge... it must've been serious.

"So what have you been thinking about?"

Nathan paused for a little while.

"...Well, although it's only by technicality, I have had the experience of living with a mother. While not the worst, it would be hard for anybody to believe she was the best either."

He opened his mouth before closing it. It seemed he found it difficult to phrase what he was saying clearly.
