This is my first time writing a novel and iβm not sure if you will like it but im hoping that you wil give a little of your time reading this story. I can say its based on a true story but only half of it. ?
It was exactly six forty five in the morning when Alexa's car enters St. Martin Hospital. She is a twenty four years old medical technologist working at the hospital for almost five years now.
Medical Technologists are the hidden frontliners. Why? Because, they are always inside the laboratory of every hospital doing tests for blood, urine, stool, etc. They are sometimes called the modern vampire because they are the ones who are extracting specimes, particularly blood, from patients to be examined for the doctors to know the source of their patients' illnesses.
Alexa nodded and smiled when the guard greeted her. Upon entering the hospital, she already heard the paging system.
"Paging Alexa, please proceed to the ER. Paging Alexa, please proceed to the ER. ER is the abbreviation for Emergency Room.
Alexa rolled her eyes and prepared herself for a rollercoaster duty, again. She entered the laboratory and wore her laboratory gown and just say, "Good Morning!" to her co-staff and friend, Myra, who was already busy with the machines infront of her.
Not boasting about herself but Alexa was tagged as the hustler "Registered Medical Technologist" or just the hustler "RMT" of the hospital. She is always in morning shift because of her ability to find all the veins in a human body.
"Good morning!" She greeted everybody in the ER and they greeted her back with smiles on their faces eventhough the ER is jammed pack with patients.
Alexa approaches her first extraction and it was a five year old girl.
"Hello, baby girl." Alexa said smiling.
"Hi." The girl said shyly.
"What is your name?" Alexa asked while looking at the request on her hand given by the ER nurse.
"I'm Akisha." The girl answered.
"Okay, Akisha, I will get something from you. You're sick, right?" Alexa asked and Akisha nodded.
"Do you want to get better?" Alexa asked again and Akisha nodded again.
"Akisha, I will get blood from here." Alexa said while pointing Akisha's arm.
Alexa saw that Akisha's eyes started to well up with tears.
"Don't cry baby girl. Do you want a chocolate?" Alexa asked while getting a chocolate bar from her pocket. "This will be yours if you will behave and you will not cry." Alexa said and gave the chocolate to Akisha who wiped her tears away.
"Akisha, just count, one...two...three...It's finished!" Alexa said while putting a micropore tape with a cotton ball in the arm of her first patient.
"One down..." Alexa said.
"Many more to go." The ER nurse handed more requests to Alexa making her rolled her eyes.

It was exactly twelve in the afternoon when Alexa and Myra finished all their laboratory works.
"My gosh, I thought we will be able to finish these until our shift ends!" Myra said while looking at their messy tables.
"As If you're not doing these everyday. Even if our eyes are closed, we can do everything in a snap." Alexa said with a smile on her face.
"Let's go to the canteen to eat, I'm dead starving because I wasn't able to eat my breakfast." Myra said but before they could open the door, they heard an announcement.
"Announcement everyone, there will be an emergency meeting at exactly one in the afternoon. Please proceed to the Director's office immediately after taking your lunch."
"What for?" Myra asked. "I don't know." Alexa answered. "Let's go. We will be late if we will not move at this very moment." Myra asked while pulling Alexa.

All of the hospital staffs were already at the director's office. The room was filled with noise because everyone is talking about the sudden meeting but no one was able to answer their curiosity.
The door opens and Bella enters the room. She is the head nurse of the hospital and one of the closest friend of Alexa. Bella looks towards the seats where Alexa and Myra are sitted and winks at Alexa.
Alexa has no idea why Bella did it but she smells something fishy. The next one that enters the room is their chief medical technologist, Linda, and just like Bella, Linda look at her with a smile in her face.
"What the fuck is going on?" Alexa cursed but only in her mind.
The Board of Directors enter the room. The Director herself, Doctora Venice, and her subordinates.
"Good afternoon everyone. I won't beat around the bush. I have a bad news and a good news. Which one do you want to hear first?" Doctora Venice asked them.
"The bad news" All of them answered.
"Actually it's not for all of you, it's just for one person. She was our ace in the veins but because of an important request, she will be transfered in the executive department." Doctora Venice said while looking at Alexa.
Everyone is looking at Alexa while she has a lot of questions in mind.
"The good news is we have a new Chief Surgeon. Without further ado, let us welcome, Doctor John Graciano." Doctora Venice said while clapping her hands.
Everyone clapped their hands welcoming the handsome surgeon.
Myra poked Alexa because she was in her own world.
"Are you alright?" Myra asked. "Yes!" Alexa said but after a while she spoke again, "No!" Myra wanted to laugh because of Alexa's answer.
John is looking at Alexa intently. Alexa is doing the same. After a while, John smirked making Alexa furrowed her forehead.
