Domestic Violence

A trembling young woman stepped into Sam's apartment and sat down without saying a word. Her hair hung down, covering her face as she rubbed her hands together anxiously.

Less than a month ago, this same woman had completely charmed him with her cheery personality and bright smile. All he wanted to do back then was spend every moment with her and see her smile every day. But right now, it felt like a different person was sitting in front of him.

What had happened to her?

Sam couldn't help but feel his heart break a little.

"Are you OK?" he finally said after hesitating a bit.

The woman continued to look down as she gently nodded her head.

Sam approached the woman and crouched down in front of her. "What happened?" he asked softly. She had suddenly called him, asking for help. Why him? Where was her husband?

Sumi quickly turned her head and tried to avoid his gaze. It didn't look like she wanted to answer this question.
