15 Another Victim

Inside a dark alleyway in the middle of Las Vegas, Maya shook away Lucas' hand and looked around nervously as she wondered how they ended up there. All the way in the car, she had been so focused on planning an explanation for the police that she didn't even notice where she was until the man pulled her out of the car and dragged her down this alleyway. As she looked around, she realized there was no police officer around nor any police station in sight. Did Lucas Lee lie to her?

"What are we doing here?" she asked cautiously.

The alleyway was long...dark...quiet; a rare patch of silence in the busy city. Apart from the cries of stray cats and police sirens in the far distance, all she could hear was the man's breathing as he stood opposite her. It was almost 10pm and most of the city was already gathering to celebrate the new year; no one was lingering around in a dark alleyway like the one they were standing in...

So...what were they doing there...?

"I thought you were taking me to the police station..." Maya mumbled just as a street light flickered above her head. The flickering light made her heart race a little. Even though she didn't want to spend new year's eve behind bars, it suddenly felt like a better option compared to this creepy alleyway. Why did Lucas bring her here?

Lucas narrowed his eyes and smirked as he took a step forward. There was a sense of mischief on his face that made Maya feel a little worried. Subconsciously taking a step back, Maya felt her back rub against some metal bars and realized there was nowhere else to go. This didn't feel right. Had the man trapped her?

Not too far away, hiding behind a large green dumpster, a pair of eyes stared at Lucas with suspicion.

[I knew he was up to no good. Why did he bring Delilah's twin here?]

[Did he...think that he failed at killing Delilah so he's finishing off the job? What does that evil son of a b*tch have planned?]

After leaving the restaurant earlier, Noah Thompson didn't actually go anywhere. He was too suspicious of Lucas to leave him alone with another woman so he watched quietly from outside and followed them when he saw them walk out.

Noah Thompson hadn't always been Lucas Lee's driver. In his early 20's, he actually had a promising future as a professional racecar driver. But after an unfortunate incident at home, he quit his dream and went to work for Lucas.

Because of his past career, he had many connections throughout the country in the car industry. So, even though he had handed Lucas back his keys, it didn't take long for him to get access to another car. His gut told him he would need it...and he was right.

Not long after he received the keys to his friend's grey Nissan 370z, he saw Lucas Lee drag Delilah's twin out of Monet Restaurant and into his black Mercedes. Judging by the expression on the woman's face, it did not look like she was willingly boarding his car. In fact, he looked a little frightened.

So, the moment that the black Mercedes started driving, Noah immediately followed behind. "Lucas Lee, I will catch you this time," Noah grumbled as he stepped on the accelerator.

That was how he ended up following Lucas and Maya to the alleyway.

As he stood behind the green dumpster, he pulled out his phone and turned it to video mode. Pointing his camera at the two, he waited to capture evidence against Lucas Lee. He was too far away to hear what they were saying, but all he needed was one shot of Lucas Lee doing something illegal and he would be able to lock the man behind bars forever. He was sure of it.

Back where Lucas and Maya were standing, Lucas leaned forward and chuckled. "There's no one around, the offices surrounding this alleyway are closed for the new year, and there are no cameras in this alleyway," he suddenly said.

Maya gripped the bar behind her nervously as chills ran down her spine. Why did it sound like he was plotting something evil? Her instincts told her something wasn't right...

All of a sudden, adrenaline shot through her body and her mind told her to get out of there — immediately!

Maya gripped the bar behind her again. If it wasn't bolted securely to the wall, she would be using it as a weapon at that moment and planning her escape. After all, this man deliberately brought her to this quiet spot, he was acting suspicious, and he completely lied about taking her to the police station. Nothing about this situation seemed right.

"Why are you telling me this? What do you want to do?" she asked, trying to sound brave.

Lucas stared into the woman's eyes and saw that she was trying to act brave, despite her confusion and fear. For some reason, it made her look extra innocent and cute.

Stepping forward again, he whispered beside the woman's ear, "I want to have some fun with the real you... Let's see how hard you're willing to try for me..."

Maya glanced at the man in surprise. What did he mean?

Meanwhile, behind the dumpster, Noah got ready to run out. From his angle, he couldn't see what was going on clearly, but it looked like the man was about to attack the woman.

"I need to save her," he whispered. "I can't allow there to be another victim. I can't..."
