Mish and Mike spent some quality time together. As Mike talked about random thinks. Atleast for quite some time he made her forget that she was mourning her mother. Although her happiness was short lived as Mike wanted to take his leave. He had some errands to settle before the day ends.
"Mish l am so sorry, that l have to leave now. I wish l can spend some more time with you" he sincerely said.
"It's fine Mike, l do understand and thank you so much for spending your time with me. You company was great" she said.
She accompanied him to the gate to see him off and returned to the sitting room. She logged into her social media account to pass time. What popped up on the screen of her cellphone. Made her eyes pope out of the sockets.
THE RICH BANKRUPT SELLS OUT THE VAN TO CATER FOR BURIAL EXPENSES OF HIS WIFE.
The headline screamed, when she read the details it was talking about his dad. He had sold the van his late brother left for him as an inheritance to cater for the burial expenses.
'which expenses? I thought l had told him that l will not bury my mother but l will creaminate her body. I need to find out what is going on with him' she thought as she walked outside just in time when the buyers were coming in.
"Welcome welcome" Mrs Wechuli welcomed two tall men.
"Thank you, but l will not be taking much time. I need to see the van before l write you a cheque" One of the buyer said.
Mrs Wechuli looked and Mr Mukhongo before saying "sure". Mish was standing outside the mansion just near the porch of the house as she looked at them.
They went to the parking lot and the buyer smiled when he saw that van being sold on a cheap price. He pulled out his cheques book and quickly wrote the cheque and signed it. He didn't waste time, because he didn't want them to change their mind of selling the van to them.
The van was among the latest model and it was still new. White was his favourite colour. The log book and the keys to the van were handed to them. Mrs Wechuli is the one who picked the cheque from the buyer and kept it in her handbag.
One of the man who had bought the van entered it and drove away.
"I think,l have to hurry up and present the cheque to the bank. You know we need to settle this matter before evening? We still have time" she didn't wait for his approval as she run to her car. Since morning she have not gone home neither her driver.
.....
Paul decide to leave office early, Ivana had complained of being fatigued. Since they didn't have lunch, Paul figured out that it will be okay if they go he early.
They didn't talk much in the car, as Ivana was busy with her cellphone.
"What? Hubby will you please turn the car. Kindly take me to the mansion." She said with creased brow.
"Why, what's wrong?" he asked as he parked the car on the road side. "Do you want to go back there after all what Mish said to you. She said she doesn't need you, why do you want to go back there?." Ivana looked at him then leaned back to the seat. She was tired, but what she just read can't wait. Paul looked at her for a reply but hot nothing he continued what he was saying
"I mean did you forget something there. We can send our drive there to pick whatever you had left when we arrive home" he impatiently said.
"No it can't wait hubby, look at this," Paul looked at the screen of her phone then said "why would he sell the van, do you really want to go there?"
"Yes please, hurry"
Paul reversed the car then left for Ivana's Mansion. "Love l really don't understand, what are you going to do?. Remember your dad left it for him as an inheritance, you had no right over it."
"Yeah l know that,l know what l am going to ask him, just keep driving."
She relaxed on her seat as she looked through the window. Lucky for her the car window was tinted. No one could see and recognise them.
.....
"What are you doing here, didn't you hear me in the morning?" Mish asked her the moment she entered the seating room.
"Watch you time, this is my wife you are talking to!" Paul summoned her.
Mish swallowed hard as she looked and them with disgust.
"Mish l am not here for you but for my uncle. So hold your horse, l not going to stress you with my presence. Now that you have started going bankrupt and turned to what my dad left for you...."
Mr Mukhongo come from the guest room, that's the reason Ivana swallowed the other words and never finished it.
"Hello uncle, how are you doing?"
"I am trying Ivana, thank you for asking" Mr Mukhongo said as he sat on the couch.
"Uncle, l don't how to ask you this, but have you seen the new?. Is is true that you are bankrupt and that's the reason why...."
Mr Mukhongo cut her off as he said. " I know where all this coming from. Yes l have sold the van your dad left it for me. Not that l am bankrupt but because, l want to use the money for settling the debt your Aunt left and also cater for burial expenses."
" If you are not bankrupt, then why..why did you sell the van? I don't understand uncle."
"Yes l knew you won't understand, you are not different from my daughter. The thing is the van was not important to me, l was not using it and l don't even know if l will ever use it. That's the reason l sold it."
"Really now, such a lame excuse. Anyway we will take our leave now"
