CHAPTER 127:I DONT NEED YOU.

Mish branched to the market to buy some groceries, because the head of maids had informed her the day before that they were running out of groceries and cereals.

When she reached home it was so tranquil and you would think that no one stays there. It was queer for her home to be like that, the day she come from upcountry , she found the maids and workers seated in the compound and others busy with their work. 'Maybe they are scared that I will quarrell them since I am around that's why they are quite' she thought as she walked to the main entrance of the house.

She pushed the door slowly and opened it, everything was in place. The thought of being robbed was out of her mind. She walked to the kitchen and expected to find the maids their but she was surprised to find a maid and a driver.

She placed the groceries to the kitchen table and sighed before asking," where are the others?"

"They left ma'am?" The maid know as Brenda answered.

"Left to?"

"Mr Mukhongo send them away"

"Why? Mish asked not believing what she is being told.

"After you have left,Mr Mukhongo gathered us for a meeting. He said that he only needs one maid and one driver and also their will be a pay cut those who remaines. Or if we were ready to work fo free, because we are being provided for shelter and food then we remain." the maid narrated.

"Are you sure my dad said like that?"

"Yes ma'am l am the witness" the driver named thomas chummed in.

"He also said that he is running out of cash so we start preparing for our exit because our services will no longer be needed soon" the driver said.

"And where is he?" Mish asked thinking that Mr Mukhongo was still in the house perhaps bedroom still sleeping. She wanted to confront her and ask what happened to the large amount Ivana's dad had left for him.

"He left ma'am, he drove himself saying that he was going to see a friend" the driver said.

"Okay, give me a minute" she said while walking outside the kitchen to call her dad. She dialled his number and called several time but the phone was just ringing and no one picked. So he opted to leave a message as instructed "Dad we need to talk"

She returned back to the kitchen and he felt pity when she so the scared face of Brenda and Thomas.

"I will talk to him,you can't have a pay cut, when you are working perfectly, don't worry too much" she said but she was not sure about it. Because earlier on Mr Mukhongo had told her that they don't need maids since Mish us all grown up and she can do the chores by herself perhaps they are only him and Mish.

"Ma'am please I don't want my sister and I to be sent away. We don't have a place to call home, please make Mr Mukhongo understand" Thomas pleaded.

Mish felt pity for them because they were working to feed themselves and the way Mish have been mistreating them.

"You mean you are brother and sister?" She asked

"Yes ma'am, they replied in unison.

"Okay, don't worry l will try my best and retain you guys.

*4 hours Earlier*

Mr Mukhongo have been waiting for the perfect time to send some maids away. So when Mish left for Ivana's place,'This is the right time' he thought.

He called the all workers that were eight in numbers, two drivers and six maids. The workers were so excited as the walked to the seating room, most of them thought that Mr Mukhongo called them to appreciate them and probably increase their salary.

"Are we all here?" He asked.

"Yes sir" they said in unison.

"My bad, good morning,I have called you all here to tell you that some of you are not needed here.We have remained the two of us, me and my daughter."

The workers who had happy faces when they entered the room were now wearing sullen faces as they listened to their boss.

"I will be reducing salary for the two workers that are willing to remain, one driver and one maid. If you all want to remains it well with me because I am providing food and shelter for you people. If you are not okay with that you are free to leave, and l am not paying you any cent because the month is not yet over" He said arrogantly.

"But sir, that will not be fair, atleast pay us the days we have worked for you, or we will sue you." One of the workers who was always vocal aired his opinion.

"Yes that's right, he needs to pay us.

" Yes we can sue him if he won't"

"It's our right to be paid."

The maid clamoured but Mr Mukhongo was hearing none of it he smirked then scoffed before saying " you want to sue me? Huh, go ahead and let's see who will rote behind bars. I am giving you five seconds to vacate my compound"

The workers left with teary faces, some of them had no where to go. Some were depending on that salary for their livelihood. They had no choice but to leave.

"Where are we going now Thomas I think we should remain, perhaps you are a driver and I am a maid. That's what boss wants" Brenda said with tears in her eyes.

"Stop crying and follow me, don't let them see us, they might mock us for being desparet" Thomas side as he walked towards the kitchen.

The hide there until others have left, fortunately or Unfortunately for them Mr Mukhongo had seen them. So he came to the kitchen, where they were hiding.

"Hahaaaaa, I knew that you won't leave, so remember that your Salary will be slashed off. I am going to see a friend te my daughter when she returns."

"Boss can l drive you?" Thomas asked desparetly.

"No, I will drive myself"
