CHAPTER 1: REGRET

“I guess l made the right decision, Paul, l am the one to decide what to do with my life. Just get out of my house before l do something that l will regret the rest of my life,” Ivana said angrily.

Paul was standing like a statue for almost 30 minutes looking at his ex-wife ranting out her anger.

“I love you, you are the woman l vowed by the living God that l will never mistreat you, why these now? Don't l deserve a second chance? Tell me Ivana, don't you love me anymore,” Paul asked as he tried moving close to her.

“Look at me please, look at me and tell me, l will respect your decision right now and won't comebacks again, just so…”

Ivana cut him off as she said,

“I would rather not listen to you Paul get out of my house please, you have no right to step into a house you don't pay rent, get out of my house,” she hollered as she swallowed hard.

“l don't want our sons to see y.....!??” Ivana stopped after realizing she had said something she was not supposed to say.

Paul's mouth gaped as he heard the word sons, does he have sons with Ivana? Since when? Ivana was not pregnant when she decided to separate from him because of infidelity five years ago.

‘What does she mean by our sons finding me here?’ he thought. His head was full of different thoughts as he spaced out. He was snapped out of his thought when she heard her speak again.

“What I meant was it's late for you to be in another woman's house, you are supposed to be in your wife's arms, don't you think?” She said with a smirk.

“You are my wife and that's why I am here. I have no other wife,” Paul replied gently.

“You divorced me, remember,” Ivana said.

“Which divorce? What are you talking About?” Paul asked with squinted eyes.

The day she found Paul in bed with Sylvia, his former girlfriend. She knew that he had disrespected her and their marriage union.  So, she knew that he was going to marry Sylvia after she left.

“Now get out of my house Paul, please,” she said as she moved towards the door to open for him.

Paul was still reluctant to move, he had spent 12 hours from Nigeria to come and visit her. Ivana pushed Paul outside the house as she slammed the door behind him. She then sat down at the door as she started weeping silently, she doesn't clearly understand why she is still attracted to these men after several times of finding him cheating without apology.

Does her heart still want him? A similar thing was happening outside. Paul was standing in the house veranda, still contemplating if he should move or continue standing and listening to her. He was confused if he should go back to his hotel room or knock at the door and beg her to stay in her house for only one day, only one day for him to make things clear between them.

That, she is the woman he needs in his life. He was snapped out of thought when he heard a car peeping at the gate. He moved and hide behind the house pillar before Ivana could open the door.

Ivana opened the gate as the car drove in and parked at the parking lot. Her cousin Fish come out and opened the car door for the Kids to come out. The Boys ran to their mother as they hugged her happily. All this time, Paul was struggling to have a clear view of the boys' faces.
