"Miss Yan, where did you get those vases?"
Liu Di walked into Yan Qingwen's office uninvited, eyeing the three "tomb incense" vases with interest.
"They're a gift from Vice President Zhao of the group. They're antiques, so be careful. You can't afford to replace them if they break," Yan Qingwen replied impatiently without looking up.
"Oh, what about that landscape painting?" Liu Di asked again.
"That was a gift from Vice President Sun."
"And these two spheres?"
"They're called Dragon Balls, expensive art pieces! They were a gift from Brother-in-law Ouyang."
Ouyang Fengyu? No wonder! This guy is sly as a fox. It looks like Zhao and Sun are just his accomplices! Is the Yan family on the verge of internal betrayal?
Liu Di shook his head in resignation. The name "Death Curse" already sounded unpleasant, so it was better to break it now.
"Oops!" Crash! An antique vase hit the ground and shattered.
Yan Qingwen was startled and looked up sharply, only to see shards scattered across the floor. Liu Di was already reaching for the other two vases.
"Liu Di, what are you doing? Stop!"
Crash! The remaining two vases shattered into pieces as well.
Liu Di shrugged nonchalantly. "Oops, my hand slipped."
Yan Qingwen rushed over to check the damage, her heart aching at the sight. Zhao Qianqian, hearing the commotion, rushed in and was stunned by the scene.
"Liu Di, you did that on purpose!" Yan Qingwen was furious. "You said 'oops' first, and then you broke the vases. It's obvious you did it intentionally!"
Liu Di felt speechless. Suddenly, you're sharp as a tack? But how come you haven't noticed that your handsome brother-in-law is trying to ruin you, seize the Yan family's shares, and sleep with your two sisters? Would you believe me if I told you that?
"They're just vases. I'll pay you back for them," Liu Di said, unwilling to explain further.
"Pay? You can't afford to!" Yan Qingwen's heart was breaking. "These vases are worth at least six million yuan!"
"Give me your account number, and I'll transfer the money," Liu Di shrugged.
"You're still bluffing?" Yan Qingwen was at her wits' end. Six million—are you planning to sell everything you own? "I must have owed you something in my past life!" she muttered, trying to calm herself down and find a way out of the situation.
"Just deduct it from your salary," she said, giving him an out. "But I don't know if you'll ever earn enough to cover it in this lifetime."
Liu Di chuckled. "The salary for driving you around might not be enough. But I can run some business for your company if you like. A six-million-yuan vase? I'll just land a billion-yuan deal."
"Liu Di, you're hopeless!" Yan Qingwen was exasperated. A billion-yuan deal? You make it sound as easy as selling a cabbage!
Zhao Qianqian quickly stepped in to change the subject. "Miss Yan, it's time to meet Mr. Li from Ciren Hospital."
Yan Qingwen took a few deep breaths to calm herself, then stood up and said, "Liu Di, go get the car."
At the Yan family estate, the twin sisters, Yan Kaikai and Yan Xinxin, had just finished playing tennis and headed to the sunroom on the second floor for tea and sunshine.
As Yan Kaikai reached for the teapot, she froze. "What's this?!"
"No way!" Yan Kaikai stared in disbelief at the card she had picked up. "This… This is the card Dad gave Liu Di?!"
Yan Xinxin leaned in, scrutinizing it closely. "Oh my gosh, it really is!"
"He… He put the card back?"
They quickly looked around, remembering that the sunroom was only cleaned once every three days. Could it be that Liu Di had returned the card here on the day he received it? He didn't use any of the money!
Oh my god! Is he really a gentleman? Unmoved by wealth and poverty?
The twins suddenly recalled all the tricks they had played on Liu Di.
"Crap, we called him a freeloader!"
"We set traps to catch him!"
"We even deducted money for the fried rice he made us!"
"Is he really that upright?"
"And such a good cook?"
"And so handsome!"
Oh no, how will we face him now?!
"Yan Kaikai, you're so stupid! You made me wrongfully accuse Liu Di!" Yan Xinxin said, blaming her sister.
"Yan Xinxin! You have a part in this too!" Yan Kaikai retorted, her face red with guilt.
The two girls began to panic. What should they do now?
"Wait!" Yan Kaikai suddenly had a serious realization. "If Liu Di really didn't use the money, then where did all those expensive clothes come from?"
"Yeah, those clothes must have cost millions! Liu Di used to live on odd jobs. How could he have that much money?"
After five minutes of silence, Yan Kaikai slammed her hand on the table, gritting her teeth. "I've got it! He must have used Third Sister's money! And he left the card here on purpose so we'd find it and feel guilty, all while spending Third Sister's money like crazy!"
"It seems Brother-in-law was right! Liu Di has been scheming all along, pretending to be pitiful just to trick us into giving him more!"
"People can be so deceptive! I can't believe I felt guilty for five whole minutes!" Yan Xinxin said, finally understanding.
"So what should we do with the card?"
"Card? Hmph!" Yan Kaikai smirked, feeling clever. "We won't tell Dad, and we definitely won't tell Third Sister. We'll just pretend we don't know anything. He'll crack eventually!"
Yan Xinxin clapped her hands in agreement. "Brilliant! You're a real detective, Kaikai!"
"But what about the money? It's five million! That's several months of my allowance!"
"Hmph." Yan Kaikai laughed even more, "I'll spend it all tomorrow! Let's make that money disappear without a trace!"
