Whisper in your ear

Mia woke up and heard the birds chirping outside their window. The flash of the sunbeam just lay upon her face and she felt so blissful for everything she owns. Today she is going to walk down the aisle and tie the knot with the love of her life. She had a strong faith that everything would go well. She took a deep breath and looked at her reflection in the mirror. A young and beautiful lady was gracefully looking back. She knew she would be the happiest person in the world.

Mia met her fiance a year ago through a dating app and they hit it off right away. Not only had they had a strong interest in Japanese anime, but they also shared the same favorite movie list. After dating for a month, they met each other's parents and decided to move in together. This could sound like a rash decision to others, but to Mia, she thought she found her Mr. Right. No one is perfect, she told herself. Sometimes, it is normal to have some arguments and conflicts, but the most important thing is they reached a compromise and learned how to respect each other.

Some people did warn her that she may need some more time to get to know this guy before making this lifetime decision. But Mia couldn't think of a single reason why he was not the one. She told herself that falling in love could make a rush of blood to your head, and sometimes it doesn't pair up with all the rational decisions.

"Hey, sweetie. Are you ready?" A young, charming lady just opened the door slightly and peeked out. "I think I am." Mia smiled. "I couldn't believe I'm saying this again." Heidy walked in gently and sat next to her best friend. "You know I have always treated you as my sister, and I know this may not be my position to tell you this. But I think I saw something that you may need to know." Heidy spoke softly to Mia, hoping that she would not provoke her on her big day. "What is it?" Mia raised her eyebrows and looked a bit nervous.

"I know that you're fine with your fiance finding his childhood "girl friend" as his best man, although I have no idea how you could be okay with that part." Heidy held Mia's hand and continued, "But what I just saw was way worse. They were behind the backdrop, and that girl was whispering in your fiance's ear." Heidy seemed to feel relieved after getting this off her chest.

Mia burst into laughter, "Oh god, I was wondering what you are going to tell me. This is absolutely nothing. Keith told me about her all the time. Sandra has been his best friend since they were children, and they shared all the secrets." Mia confidently assured Heidy who was stunned. "I mean Keith did introduce me to Sandra over dinner, and she seemed to be a nice lady."

"And you think there is absolutely nothing between them other than friendship?" Heidy questioned her friend's judgment. "Oh come on, it is common to maintain a pure friendship between a guy and a girl. Don't make it a big deal." Mia gently touched her braids and tried to act calm. "If you are so comfortable with that, of course, I won't have any problem too." Heidy shook her head and chuckled sarcastically. "Just be honest with yourself. Your feelings never lie." Heidy sighed and left the room. As a maid of honor, this is the only thing she could have done.
