Waiting

"What do you want Caroline?" Caden asked.

He was tapping his fingers on the table while impatiently looking at his sister.

"I can't stand him. He never listens to me." Caroline pouted.

Caden took a deep breath. He knew his sister was stubborn and too hard to handle, but he likes it when she would disturb him to complain.

"I don't care. The answer is still no. You need Stephen. And how many times do I have to tell you not to barge into my room without knocking?"

"Why? Because Alira's here?" Caroline rolled her eyes.

Caden took another breath. He was trying not to get mad at Caroline, but he was starting to lose his temper.

"Everyone knows that both of you sneak into each other's room at night. You don't need to hide it."

The bathroom door opened. Alira's eyes widened to see Caroline sitting on the couch.

"See? Just as I thought." Then Caroline turned to Alira smirking. "So princess, how's your sleep? Did my brother exhaust you last night?

Alira blushed. But she didn't have to hide anything from Caden's sister. She wanted to be with Caden and she was not ashamed of it.

She walked toward the couch and sat beside Caroline. She looked at her and smiled.

"Not really. I was the one who exhausts him. I can't get enough of your brother." She said in a seductive voice.

Caroline turned red. "Stop! I don't want to hear it!"

"Why? You asked for it. Want to hear what we did last night until morning?"

Caroline stood up and ran out of the room, blushing. Caden was laughing out loud when her sister finally lost to someone.

"You're savage." He said.

"She really does everything she likes and says what's on her mind. I admire her for that." She said.

Caden sighed. "Sometimes I'm not sure if I could be a good brother to her. I'm still trying to reach out to her, but I'm glad she would always come to me and complain."

"Don't worry. I'm sure you and Caroline would be close someday." She said.

Caden smiled. Then they started to prepare for school. When Caroline barged in, Caden had just finished his bath. She was left inside the bathroom and didn't hear that Caden was talking to someone.

"By the way, I think we should soundproof the room." He said while looking for something to wear.

She frowned. "Why?"

"Everyone already knows about us. I think because they hear us every night."

Her eyes widened when she figured out what he meant. She rushed into his closet to confirm what he said.

Caden nodded. "They heard us while doing it."

She couldn't say anything out of embarrassment so she just threw the towel that she was holding.

"What was that for?" He yelled.

"You didn't look bothered by it." She pouted.

"Why would I? I'm in love with you. Do I have to be ashamed of it?" He reasoned.

"But what if—"

Caden frowned. "Do you regret sleeping with me?"

She shook her head. "No! What kind of question is that?"

Before Caden could answer, Lucas followed by Brie barged into the room.

"Will you two stop yelling? We couldn't sleep last night because of you. Why do you have to argue this early?" Lucas scolded them.

Caden quickly put on his shirt because Lucas might see his tattoos before walking out of the closet.

"Can you ask someone to soundproof the room?" Caden asked Lucas.

Lucas glared at Caden. "You have no shame. I'm your fiance's twin."

Caden smirked. "But you'll still do it."

"Whatever."

"Oh, maybe you should do it with all the rooms including yours." Caden said while glancing at Brie.

"Asshole." Lucas said and walked out of the room.

"Sometimes, I think you're closer to my brother." Alira commented.

She was putting on her shoes when Caden's phone rang. She saw his face change when he looked at who it was.

"Rock." He said.

Caden just listened to the man on the other line. And when he ended the call, his eyes lost their sparkle.

"Caden?" She called.

"I need to skip class today. I'll be back." He said.

She wasn't able to ask him what was the call about. He didn't give her time to ask. He kissed him on the lips, took his black coat then left.

Lucas and the others asked her about Caden. She told them something came up so he needed to meet someone. They didn't ask further. But the way Elijah looked at her, she knew he knows where Caden went.

"Elijah, do you know what's happening?" She asked.

She pulled Elijah into the music room during the break because she couldn't reach Caden's phone. Elijah sighed.

"I honestly don't know what he's up to. But if Rock called him, then you should probably know that it wasn't good." Elijah said.

She nodded. She still felt restless. She already asked Phoenix and the others but they told her to wait and that Caden should be the one to tell her.

"Do you think you could handle both?" Elijah asked.

She frowned. "What? W—What do you mean?"

"The stress in the royal palace and the anxiety of waiting for him. In Flousia, he always comes out at night and stayed in the palace during the daytime. He's a crown prince by day, and the boss of the Forelli Clan by night. Do you think you could deal with it?" Elijah said before leaving her alone.

She didn't answer. But she waited for him for twelve years, why would she give up now? Her life as the Mafia Boss' fiance has just started, and she couldn't tell if she could handle it or not without even trying.

She looked at the window and gazed upon the blue sky. The weather was warm and soothing. She thought to herself. She held on to her chest and took a deep breath.

"I'll wait Caden. So please come back safe." She said.
