17: Let me accompany you

The night sky appeared boldly outside the factory, and with no ither questions asked, Nuri went to sleep. Yeah! It was surely cold, but with the jacket as thick as she had worn, she felt no cold whatsoever.

Santiago kept on glancing at her from time to time, he was restless. He could still not get used to the fact that an innocent woman was beside him, a murderer. It felt unreal a person can still be beside him and tolerate him despite him being a murderer.

A short while later, his eyes gave up, his head fell on her shoulder. She woke up because of this and saw him leaning on her shoulder. She had the thought to sway his head away from her but gave up on that thought as he looked kinda exhausted.

" Okay, buddy! Just this one last time ", Nuri proceed to sleep after that.

She was already in a strange world and having an ally was something she should look forward to. And Santiago is fit for that position. But it was clear that he would never be agreeing to her in that regard. Therefore, she gave up on that thought and closed her eyes to have a good rest tonight.

She just closed her eyes and it was already another day when her eyes opened, didn't feel like she slept at all, the tiredness from yesterday was there, yet somehow she was energized.

She just opened her eyes but heard some noises coming from outside.

It was a warning, they should leave. " Santiago... Santiago, get up. We have to leave ", She called out his name.

But when he didn't budge, she slapped him hard across the face. He was startled by the sudden pain and pounce on her instead, he took her for a spy from the enemy side.

But what met his eyes once he look carefully was none other than Nuri, she was under him, trying to shake him off and a little bit flustered.

" Can you move from my body? ", She asked in a cold tone full of remorse.

" Oh! I...I am sorry ", He apologized immediately as well as moved his body from the top of her.

" Save your apology for later. We have to leave this place asap. Get ready ", She said getting up.

Her clothes were all wrinkled as he was all dependent on getting the whole night, no wonder her body was sore and aching.

He nodded to her. The way things were moving right now, felt like some people were moving fastly toward the storage room. There was a strong sweet scent mixed in the air as if the manufacturing process for the cakes have started already.

No wonder the workers were moving towards the storage room, all the ingredients were stored and kept in there.

The window was opened. Santiago carefully opened it and looked around. Fortunately, no one was wandering around behind the factory, it was their chance.

He opened the window completely and then jumped down, he waited for her to come out as well. So when she jumped out of the window, there was there to hold her if she was to fall or fail to balance herself.

Unlike what he thought about holding her when she falls, she landed safely on the ground. She then closed the window and both of them moved to the back door entrance.

Unlike the front gate which was busy as the factory had opened for the day, the back door entrance was empty. But the gate was locked like last time.

But the mere padlock was not enough to hold them behind. Nuri and Santiago climbed the wall and jumped to the other side. They successfully left the factory and were now outside.

After they walked for quite some time, both looked at each other. It was already time to say goodbye to each other.

" Then...are you heading towards the east region? ", He asked.

Unlike what he thought, it was difficult to say goodbye to her. He met a person who understood him after many years, so it was a little hard to ask her to stay with him.

" Yeah! I will head over there. Well! It was nice meeting you. Thank you for accompanying me for the night. You are the first person to show me that pretty smile and blush face. I think I won't be able to find anyone like you ", She said.

She was supposed to say goodbye but only nonsense was coming out of her damn mouth. Perhaps, she had found her peace. Just yesterday when she saw him in the wanted picture, her heart skipped many beats, as if her heart was acknowledging her for something she was unaware of. But look at that same heart now, it was as calm as an adult. The transition from childhood to adulthood was too fast which gave her no time to think things through.

Santiago was on the run, escaping from the government and cops, finding a place to stay hidden until they forget him. And it was the first time he succeeded after many failed attempts.

As if it was destiny that pulled him close to Nuri. He had no heart to leave her alone.

" Nuri! Should I propose an idea to you? ", He asked.

She looked at him all baffled for a moment before nodding her head. " Please go ahead ".

" You are running away from the scientist as you are their test subject. On top of that, you are also a human being. I am sure they will track you down soon. And you still need a day to reach the east region. So I was thinking, how would you like it if I am to tag along with you? I know it's very random and not the best idea. But...".

Before he could even finish what he was speaking, she cut him in...

" Great! I agree with you. Unlike you, who is well versed in this world, I am just a rookie. There are things that I don't understand. I will be glad if you come with me ", Said Nuri.
