On the other hand, while Eli and Belle had the best dinner after work, Charles experienced quite the opposite. In fact, he hasn't gotten his dinner yet. 

Earlier, as soon as he found out that Karis was having dinner with his sister, he called Charlene at once. 

His sister might appear as a happy-go-lucky woman, but she also has a keen observation of the people around her. During the whole time that she was with Karis, she pretended not to notice anything, yet she knew that Karis covered her swollen eyes with cosmetics. She knew that her friend was crying her heart out and since her mother was already fine, Charlene deduced that the cause of her heartache was none other than Charles, her brother. 

So, when Charles called her, she kept their location a secret and continued her dinner with Karis – unbothered by her brother's incessant calls.
