BELLE IS ALIVE II

Ceres planned to put some distance between her and Eli. She just wanted to watch him from afar. Yet, he told her to stay with him until she remembers everything.

"Is this the place?" The pilot asked while maneuvering the helicopter over the village where Ceres was brought into. "I could not find a place where we can land safely."

"We'll use the rope to jump down and check on her. I'll give you a signal to lower the stretcher down."

"Roger."

Dr. Evan Summer, a military doctor came along to rescue Isabelle who was reported missing after the massive flash flood that destroyed a lot of properties. She was saving the children when the soil she stepped on give way and washed her off the raging river.

"Hello." Greeted Evan. Usually, he goes by the name Brown when he's on a mission but this time, since he was cooperating with the military for this rescue operation, he decided to use his real name. "I'm here to get Isabelle Ignacio. Is she awake?"

"Yes, sir. She just woke up." The owner of the hut, where Isabelle stayed, led Dr. Summer to where the missing nurse was. She was able to get up on her own already but she still couldn't stop because her left foot has a huge cut. She didn't see the wound ever since she realized it was there; she had no idea if this was a cut from a sharp stone or tree branches.

Ceres heard the commotion outside as well as the sound of rotors in the sky. She deduced that these people must have come to rescue the owner of her body.

"I'm Dr. Evan Summer," Evan said the moment he stepped inside but Ceres only looked at him without saying anything. Her plan of pretending to have memory loss has started. "Are you in pain?"

"No."

"Do you remember who you are?" Apparently, the person who reported that she was rescued told them that Belle got wounded on her head. They already expected that since she was dragged into the river. If it was even considered a miracle that she was alive after being tossed about for a period of time.

"I'm Isabelle."

"Age?" she shook her head. "Family member?"

Her face lit up and she said Belle's brother. "Neon."

"Did you know what happened to you?"

"No. I don't remember anything but I was told that I wore a nurse uniform and I am probably one of the nurses who came for a medical mission."

"Alright. We will be taking you back to the city to make sure that you will be checked properly. The people here have done their best to keep you alive but there are things that only doctors can do. I'll ask my friend to lower the stretcher. Give me a sec."

Evan did whatever he needed to do for this rescue operation and he assured Belle that everything will be alright. Though, he didn't really need to do that if he knew the truth. With the help of the villagers. They carefully placed her on the stretcher and Evan checked the wires to make sure that they were tied properly.

"Thank you for saving me," Ceres said. The faint smile on her face was contagious and the villagers smiled at her as well. "I'll come back in the future to repay all of you for what you did."

"No, need. No need. Just get well soon."

Even though they said there was no need to do that, Ceres was determined to come back to this place because she saw how poor the village was, but they still helped her despite lacking a lot of things. She likes this type of people.

Watching them getting smaller as she was hoisted up into the helicopter, Ceres felt a deep attachment to these people. They were like the village of abandoned children that she usually visited in the past.

"You can sleep along the way," Evan told her but Ceres only looked at her without saying anything. She looked at him up and down and read the name on his uniform. It was obvious that she was vigilant against them.

After flying for more than two hours, they finally arrived at Senyu Medical Hospital. The pilot touched down on the helipad and they lowered Belle onto the ground. Two doctors were waiting for her along with two nurses. With the military's help, they brought her inside and pushed her to the emergency room where they performed a lot of tests to make sure that she was fine.

"I don't have money." She said which stunned the doctors and nurses.

"Don't worry. This will be covered by your insurance."

"Am I really a nurse?" The doctors and nurses looked at each other and nodded their heads together. "That is sad. I don't remember anything."

"Don't worry. We will help you remember things while you are recovering."

"Okay."

"We'll clean you up and your wounds to make sure that they will not be infected. After that, we'll bring you to the general ward while waiting for your test results."

"Okay."

Gone was the cheerful Isabelle. Right now, she seemed lost and worried about anything and she never said anyone's name ever since she was rescued.

Several hours later, after she was moved to the general ward, the doctors came back with so many test results all for her. Not just that, they returned with the doctor who has the face of General Joaquin.

"This is Dr. Eliezer Rivera."

"I don't want him here," Ceres said unexpectedly which shocked the doctors. They never thought that she'd strongly disagree to have his presence inside her room.

"I'm a physician. I can help you."

"Well, I don't need your help. I'm fine on my own."

"You can't even remember everyone here or your job description and you are telling me you are fine on your own?"

Ceres stuttered for a while until she finally kept her mouth shut but there was burning fire in her eyes. "I'll remember everything soon."

"Yes, you will. I have talked to the director about this matter already and he agreed that you will stay with me until you remember everything. During my free time, I will come here to read you some books. I will allow you to practice using a syringe with me. That's that. If you have any complaint, tell the director about it. I'm off for now."

"Wh-what?! What the heck was that?! I am a patient! I need to rest. Why is he going to read me those boring books about nursing?! I don't want to be near him. No! I don't want to be a nurse!"

Outside the room, Eli was leaning on the wall while listening to her loud complaints which didn't really matter as of this moment. Since she tried her best to cheer him up before, it was his turn to help her now. [But why is she so aggressive against me? I didn't even do anything bad to her.]

And just like that, Eli ruined her well-thought-out plan of putting distance between them.
