I was sitting in the alpha's office, feeling completely lost. I had never felt like this before. This was a horrible feeling, this emptiness in my chest. Sure, I had been on the verge of losing people I really loved but nothing had compared to this. I had almost lost my mother and my baby sister during labor, my father in the rogue attack, my son and friend Natalie in labor, but all of these instances combined didn't make me feel as terrified as I was feeling now.

The silence in my office seemed so haunting. Every particle of dust suspended in the air made my eyes water. Every little noise, even the sound of my own breathing made me feel as if my ears were bleeding. My heart had taken on an irregular rhythm, beating fast for a few minutes when I imagined all the possible places Zara could be and then my heart calmed down when I forced my thoughts towards tactical leadership and planning to find Zara.
