A sharp pain was slicing my hear and my wolf whimpered as he took in the blood soaked body of our dad, with an arrow lodged in the junction of his neck and shoulder.

I didn't want to imagine the kind of pain my mom must be feeling right now, considering mates could feel each other's pain. I clenched my eyes for a second to dissolve the world around me. I didn't want panic to overwhelm me, I needed to be in my wits because I would rather die than make my mom mate less and leave my newborn sister without a father.

Gathering my wits, I quickly shifted back into my human form. I covered the remaining distance between me and my father's wolf and crouched down to take a look at me.
