CHAPTER 19
" Huh! your house looks more normal than I had imagined " Alex gave me a scornful look as I helped him up the steps to his house.
" Don't tell me you were expecting an old abandoned, ghostly looking house "
" Well not really but something close to that. Oh and could you remind me again why I had to park the truck a few blocks away from your house and why I had to leave it hidden?"
" We had to park it a few blocks away in case either my brother, sister or magically my parents were at home or they happened to appear before I am done taking what I need and start demanding explanations "
" Bro, you are making your family sound bad" Alex stopped searching for his house keys and looked at me with a raised eyebrow.
" Really? wait and till you meet them then you will know that what I said isn't close to throwing shade at those people. "
" Okay now I understand the reason why we had to park far from your house but still I don't get the reason why we had to leave it. We could have just left it packed on the side of the street. "
" Are you dumb or something! that I need to remind you that we have got a body stuffed in a trash can just laying in the back of the truck. I don't now which neighborhood you come from but here if they spot a vehicle which they ain't familiar with they gonna start snooping and once they find something unusual they would call the cops, that's how much nosy people here are"
"My bad I was just curious so I asked, things work differently in my neighborhood everybody sticks to their business" I backed away from him to avoid triggering another outburst, he looked at me then at the door and after a few minutes he sighed.
" Look am sorry for snapping at you I shouldn't have done that I will try and control my temper next time."
I decided not saying anything would be the best thing for both of us so I let him lead the way inside the house. His legs had gained back a bit more strength that he could walk by himself without much help but they would wobble from time to time. The house was a bit messy but not dirty with several plastic cups, beer cans and whiskey bottles piled in a corner.
" Don't mind the mess we don't have a house cleaner to take care of the mess but still my siblings leave their messes everywhere since they know am gonna come clean after them" Alex spoke as he collected a few more empty beer can and add them to the pile. He opened the curtains to let more light into the room and how it reflected off the shiny white walls was beautiful.
" Don't get me wrong I don't clean up for their sake I do it only because I spend most of the time here unlike the rest and if I don't clean up the place will start to smell and become in habitable. " He started going through the drawers of the large desk near the window and when he didn't find what he was looking for he annoyingly slammed them shut and proceed to the kitchen.
" Sorry I can't offer your some coffee, today am in sought of a hurry maybe next time." I really couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic or honest since he didn't look me in the eyes once as he said those words only continued going through the kitchen drawers. I just nodded as response but he didn't see it.
" What are you looking for and how can I help because it feels like forever since you started looking for it. " I was starting to get restless just standing there if he could just tell me what his looking for I could maybe help and get it done with.
" Am looking for my flashlight. I left it on the desk in the living room yesterday and know I can't find it. I swear those idiots took it or hid it somewhere "
" If it's a flashlight you are looking for what are you doing in the dish washing machine? " this boy really keeps getting stranger and stranger by the minute. I watched him move from the dish washer to the oven even the microwave was not left out of his madness.
" You don't understand the kind of crazed freaks I have for brothers, they could have hidden it anywhere the more unlikely the place the better. This is all my stupid fault, I know how they are and I still left the flashlight in plain sight. Wow am starting to count myself lucky for having no sibling.
"Why don't you use another flashlight? I saw a couple on that desk by the window, and why do you need a flashlight during the day and its not as if it will get dark anytime soon it's not even noon yet."
" Those other flash lights are useless they won't work the same way mine would since its a different model and its brightness can't be compared. Just help me look around it has to be somewhere since they are lazy to carry it with them."
I thought if he is putting this much importance on the flashlight then it must be something. I was standing closest to the fridge which I gave one look and decided to hell with it, I won't die from at least looking. I opened the freezer and what do I find? the flashlight. I took it out and starred at it in disbelief.
" You must have mad men for brothers!"
"Did you say something... Oh my god! you found! it where was it?"

Thanos " Stupid! stupid! stupid! how could I forget and leave the flashlight in plain sight rather than keeping it well hidden when I know how much we need it"
Dude don't blame it on yourself we all forgot about the flashlight, we had a lot on our mind so take it easy.
Dragoshi " yeah man we are all to blame but now is not the time just keep looking for it. I swear I will make those two idiots pay.
"You must have mad men for brothers!" i was done looking in the microwave and just grabbed a stool to see if I can find the flashlight in the top most cabinet when I had Yan say something but I didn't hear it properly, as I turned to ask him to say it again I saw our flashlight in his hand. Oh relief sweet sweet relief.
That flashlight had costs us quite a huge sum of money. At first when I saw it I wanted it became it had a unique design and pretty. it took time to convince Thanos to let me have it but once he saw how bright it was he was sold. My brothers did nag me to tell them where I got it from and I just ended up telling them I stole it to which the laughed and snorted an ' of course you did what else did we expect of you'
"Where did you find it?"
" it was in the freezer "
Dammit I hope it still works. I tried the first time nothing I gave it a few pats tried it a second time and thankfully it was working. This was the only thing that brought me back to the house, I would have taken it with me this morning but was a afraid it would fall off and get lost, that's why I didn't notice it was missing from where I had left it.
I held Yan's hand and hurried out of the kitchen and out of the house I didn't bother locking it coz it's almost time for my sister to stumbled in after a whole night of drinking with unknown name less faces. we were all getting exited to show Yan the amazing place we were going to send of our dear friend.
