Home Invader

'Shit! I'm going to be late!' Jayce yelled internally. He didn't realize how late he left till he checked his phone.

Running at full speed he could see the gate of the school just ahead, but it was starting to close.

"Wait! Don't close it yet!" Jayce yelled desperately, realizing that the person closing the gate wasn't going to stop, he pushed himself to go faster.

Barely making it to the gate, he threw his backpack over the gate and slid in before it completely closed.

Sticking the landing, the backpack landed in his hands as he sprinted to his classroom, completely ignoring the complaining he heard behind him.

Finally arriving at his classroom, he opened the door just as the bell went off. With a sigh of relief, he walked toward the back of the class.

Sitting in his seat he laid his sweating head on the cool desk, making him smile.

"Look who finally decides to arrive." Looking over to his right he could see the person seated next to him.

A spikey redhead by the name of Ryan Walker was seated next to him, wearing a white buttoned shirt with a few of the top buttons undone.

He was pretty handsome with his thick, red eyebrows and hazel eyes that expelled confidence, but the delinquent vibe he was giving off would make others avoid him if at all possible as it would only cause trouble.

But Jayce knew differently, ever since freshman year when he was attacked by a group of high school delinquents Ryan jumped in to help, even when he didn't know anything about him.

Fighting off the group of bullies and making them run with their tails between their legs. Since that incident, they have become best friends.

"Run a mile and a half in 5 minutes and see how you do," Jayce said still exhausted from the sprint.

"Yeah no, sorry but I'm not suicidal," Ryan said replied almost instantly. "You are a monster for being able to do that and not collapsing instantly."

"Says the guy who can fight on 12 guys at once," Jayce replied to his remark.

"True" Ryan agreed, they were both monsters in their own right.

They both turned their heads as they heard the classroom door open. An old lady wearing glasses and had her hair in a bun walked in.

Jayce and Ryan signed internally as they both hated Mrs. Green. Why?

For no reason at all, she would constantly chew them out. And if they did deserve it she would lash out twice as hard.

The number of punishments they have received for the littlest things they have done and sometimes doing nothing at all was ridiculous.

Jayce was surprised that Ryan hadn't lashed out at her since he was a hot-headed individual at the start of the semester.

As time went on, the two of them were able to hold back themselves while dealing with this bitch of a teacher.

"Jayce and Ryan! Stop talking this instant or you will report to the office. Do I make myself clear?" Mrs. Green said loudly with an authoritative tone.

Jayce knew that if they didn't do it quickly she would send them out.

Ryan quickly went back to his desk as Mrs. Green started her lesson. The first few went by quickly as Jayce would just stare out the window without much thought.

Looking at the time, Jayce sighs as only two hours have passed. He was starting to become bored as he wasn't interested in school in the slightest, the only reason he was attending was for the track team.

Jayce's goal was to become a pro athlete so he could live with tons of wealth.

---

After surviving the day with the constant harassment from his friend, the school day had come to an end.

Jayce went straight to practice and once he finished that he met up with Ryan.

"Hey, could you do me a favor this one time?" Jayce asked with his best puppy eyes.

"Ew stop looking at me like that," Ryan responded with disgust in his eyes. "What's the favor?"

"Damn, don't get to call me out like that, but I need some muscle," Jayce said, hoping to dodge around the subject.

If Ryan had known what he needed help with, he would refuse on the spot.

Thinking about the favor, Ryan didn't see any problem with it. "Sure but you owe me one."

They soon arrived at Jayce's residence, something felt off to Jayce but he didn't think much of it.

He pulled out his keys but noticed that the door was slightly open. Walking into the house Jayce flicked the light switch, but the darkness remained.

'Is there a power outage?' Jayce thought internally.

"Alice?" Jayce called out into the darkness, but there was no response.

Closing the door, the duo walked into the darkness. Remembering the layout of the house, Jayce was able to direct the two of them toward the living room.

Using the wall as a guide they were able to make it to the living room without much trouble.

They both stopped as a rancid, foul odor forcefully entered their nostrils. Instinctively, the boys pinch their noses but it was of no help.

To find out the source of the smell, the boys ventured into the kitchen where it was the strongest.

Turning the corner they both saw something they would regret for the rest of their lives. A huge beast covered in gray fur that was at least 8 feet tall was eating something on the floor.

Looking closer at the beast's meal was a huge puddle of dark red puddle.

Located not too far from the puddle was a ring that Jayce would recognize anywhere, it was the one he gave to his sister on her birthday.

"ALICE!!!"
