An unpleasant encounter

Chapter 9

**An unpleasant encounter**

The announcement of the arrival of Marcus Brynn and family rang into Prince Adonis's ear and he turned around sharply only to be shocked by what he saw. It was her, the woman he was being forced to marry, Liliana Brynn....it was her! the same woman at the restaurant who embarrassed him, she was the same woman who had loneliness welling deep inside her eyes....it was all her!

She looked very much different, way more beautiful in fact and sexy too. He couldn't take his eyes off her, every step she took and every fake smile she flashed at some of the married men whose eyes hungered for a younger blood, he watched her intently much to the pleasure of his father who could see the satisfaction in his son's eyes.

Adonis downed another shot of whiskey from the waiter's tray, many more and he was soon to get drunk. So she was Liliana Brynn, the feisty Liliana he once met when he was a little boy—the painful memory of her giving him a wedgie when her parents visited the palace. He frowned deeply, annoyed that the woman who he couldn't keep out of his mind was the same woman he was being forced to marry.

Liliana glanced around the room, looking for a possible escape route when her eyes finally caught the sight of a man—the man, the same man who sent her out of the restaurant after he shamelessly broke up with his girlfriend of only few weeks, 'You!!', she scoffed as she stormed towards him.

Two royal guards stepped right in front of her, alerting the King and his wife as well as Marcus to the scene. It was all happening too fast and one word from the king, scolding the guards on handling her with respect as she was soon to be a member of his family—it was all coming into place, she was marrying the Prince himself, the prince Adonis she heard about but hasn't seen in a million years.

'You're.... you're the prince?'. She stuttered as he moved closer.

'You're Liliana Brynn', his brows puckered, 'I can't believe my parents want me to marry someone as ill-mannered as you'.

She laughed hysterically, bringing about the attention of her parents again, 'And I can't believe my parents are setting me up to marry such a heartbreaker like you. You're the same man who sent me out of the restaurant all because I called you out on your nonsense!'.

Megan and Marcus's eyes met as they weren't expecting their daughter to be familiar with the prince, it was evident that they both didn't like each other but before they could step in, Liliana threw them a haughty glare. She raked her hands through her hair, sighing deeply as she was trying her best to keep her sanity intact....it was like fate was playing a dirty game with her, the one man she dreaded the most was the same one when was being forced to marry... unbelievable.

'I will never marry someone like you'. Adonis leaned over and whispered.

She grinned, a deadly one at that trying so hard not to punch him in the face for his condescending words towards her, 'I will never date a maniacal piece of shit like you', she whispered and took a step back to bow in front of him, 'Your highness', she muttered and walked away.

Adonis smirked, as much as he was appalled by her blatant disrespect a part of him was still drawn to her puckish behavior. She was the only one of a dozen women who didn't fawn over his good looks, he wasn't even sure she found him attractive in any way and didn't even know why he cared if she did. The King scooted over to his son's side and frowned as Adonis opted for another shot.

'You're a royal and people are watching', he muttered under his breath, 'How was your meeting with the beautiful Lili—'.

'It was unpleasant'. He let his father know immediately.

'What?'.

'You heard me father, it was very much an unpleasant encounter between me and Miss Brynn. She's rude, uncultured with a mouth fit for a swine and she hates me. I can't believe you'd bethrote me to someone like that'. Adonis scoffed, hoping his words would change his father's mind somehow.

Gerard only laughed, 'No one has seen Liliana in years Adonis, she has always been a feisty one and I'm sure you're just berating a wonderful and beautiful woman like her all because of your stubbornness towards your duty. You're going be marry Liliana, there's no two ways about it'.

Adonis sighed deeply in annoyance as his plan fell flat on his face, he glanced around and spotted his proposed wife to be downing multiple drinks at once which perturbed him greatly—she was a reckless and lonely piece of work, not fit to be a princess but no—his father's stupid deal with her father had put both of them in the predicament to come in contact with each other again.

Slowly he walked up to her side of the room, 'Take one more shot and I'll have you thrown out...just like I did at the restaurant in Paris'.

Her brows puckered as she took his dare, downed one more shot and walked away, swaying her hips in a way he found very much endearing—all the men's eyes were on her and he couldn't blame them, why did she have to be so pretty?? he thought, he would've had a blast hating her if she was a tad bit ugly.....but she had the most beautiful eyes that he could get lost in—too bad she had the mouth of a guttersnipe.

Liliana fumed as she was escorted into the car by her damned bodyguard. Her plan was soiled once again as she reached the back room for an exit—It was like her father knew she would try to escape and planted every single one of his men around the building. Marcus smiled as he placed a hand on her cheek, proud that his daughter behaved herself except her meeting with the prince.

Thankfully her personal bodyguard didn't mention any word of her escape to her father, her parents were so happy and even though they had personal problems looming in their family she would be distraught to break their hearts tonight. So she forced a smile until her mother asked her how her encounter with the prince was.

'He's a handsome man Lili'.

'He's an arrogant piece of crap Mom—and yes mom, it was very unpleasant meeting the prince for the second time'. She responded and sulked all the way to the house, leaving her parents to wonder what Adonis could've done to make her hate him so much.
