Obtaining a new skill

Alan didn't expect to be rewarded for guiding that red mosquito because he received no form of reward through the other souls he guided.

The most he received was the annoying system promptly congratulating him on his actions as if it was an amazing accomplishment every single time.

'So, I have money and exp now! Open status!' Alan thought, excited to see the recent change in his stats.

[Name: Alan

Job: Grim Reaper (18 hours)

Species: Undead(Skeleton)

Reaper Lv: 1

balance: 500

Exp: 200

Skills: Soul binds, Soul transfer, absolute regeneration]

Sure enough, his stats had changed compared to last time. His exp and balance was updated to 200 and 500, respectively.

'I wonder what I could do with my balance…' Alan had no clue where to spend his hard earned money so he asked the system.

[Now that User has earned some coins, they have been given access to the shop!]

Seeing the system prompt excited Alan 'A shop…I wonder what I could get!'

'System, how do I open the shop?'

[Think Open Shop or system open shop]

'Open Shop'

[Opening Shop]

Next moment, Alan saw a large interface in front of him with a bunch of crimson texts with price tags next to them.

'Lets see…'

The shop system worked just like browsing through the web, it had a search feature, a filtering feature and each item listed had a general description with it.

It was so similar that some items even had reviews by other customers that bought it, Alan assumed they were from other Grim Reapers.

The shop had a variety of categories, ranging from skills, weapons, clothes, books, and all other sorts that Alan felt quite overwhelmed by all the options.

Though feeling overwhelmed, Alan stayed focused on typing in the search bar for what he needed 'please be cheap.' He hoped as he typed the words 'Teleportation'

Alan needed to have a teleportation skill to travel from one place to another to hunt down souls. He felt that if he stayed at his location right now, he would have no chance to complete his first daily quota.

[Searching…]

Appeared in front of him, making Alan hold his breath for those few seconds in anticipation.

'Come on, come on!'

In the next moment, a bunch of skills and items appeared, with each having 'teleportation' in their name.

Alan filtered it further to just skills, and the results lessened significantly, making it easier for him to look at the options.

Honestly, the choices astounded Alan because there was a skill to directly teleport to the vicinity of your required soul and another one was an instant teleportation to the exact location of large amounts of your required souls.

Those skills made Alan greedy as he desperately wanted to buy them but when he saw the price, he felt dread and scrolled past them.

The skill to teleport in the vicinity of your required soul cost 100,000 coins while the one to teleport to a large batch of your required souls cost 1,000,000 coins!

Alan's 500 coins looked very pitiful in front of such skills, and his hope of finding a cheap teleportation skill diminished slightly.

'Why couldn't Death give me a teleportation skill… I doubt I would barely be in life-threatening events for this healing skill to be used…' Alan thought with a bit of sadness.

However, his luck wasn't horrible and Alan found a teleportation skill in his price range!

[Basic country teleportation]

[User will teleport to a country of their choice in a randomised location within it]

That was all the skill described, but Alan could afford the cost.

The system's store worked just like a normal one where there were discounts and deals through unique items and this skill was currently on a 50% discount!

It cost 1000 coins previously but now it only cost 500 coins which Alan could just about afford.

'Though I will be poor again, Ill earn some money from my daily life, this is worth it' To try to soothe the damage of his choice to buy the skill, Alan reassured himself that it was like an investment.

He clicked on the skill and a big red 'BUY' option stuck out like a sore thumb 'it's an investment, an investment…' Alan continued to repeat as he slowly pressed the ' BUY' button.

*Ding*

[User bought basic country teleportation skill]

[Shortly delivering basic country teleportation skill]

Whether or not it was Alan's imagination, he could feel something above him, so he looked up and saw some weird distortion in the air where the night sky seemed to sway left and right.

As he looked up, a purple glowing ball descended from the skies and straight onto Alan, immediately exploding in purple particles around him.

[Integrating basic country teleportation skill]

[Successfully integrated!]

[Congratulations! User has got the skill of basic country teleportation]

After a few seconds, Alan received confirmation that he fully obtained the skill.

'Sweet!!' Alan felt thrilled at seeing his new skill.

'Now to figure out where the hell larvae live…'

At first Alan tried to see if he could use a computer from a random house but his hand phased through 'Why can I walk on the ground perfectly fine but I can't touch other solid materials…' Alan just did not understand the reason for it.

'Do they allow Reapers to walk on solid ground to make their job easier? Wouldn't flying be more effective than that?' Alan tried to ask the system, but it gave him no response

Seeing that the computer idea did not work, Alan tried to ask the system 'System, is there a way to know where souls are located? How can I find larvae?'

[If you would like general areas of a specific soul, the system can provide it within its general database]

Alan once again cheered inwardly at the system's response 'Larvae! Here I come!'
