Before It began(1)

It was just another day for Felexia. She had jus finished school. It was almost 6: 30 in the evening. Although school finishes at 5:30 and isn't far away from home she still walked slow so that, not only can she get home late but she can hang around her friends much longer.

Felexia was always a cheerful girl. She was just a young teen at this time.In two months she would be sixteen . She was quiet and was seen around in class as the "silent girl in the corner ", but in truth she was bold, straight -forward and loved to talk.... to only the ones she trusted that was.

Once she and her little group of friends departed she was left alone with her big brother - Felix.

Felix and Felexia were only one year apart and therefore, shared the same friends. Felix was one of the best brothers a girl could ask for. In fact he was the Only one she actually trusted.

Felix on the other hand was very quiet. He had a cold aura around him. Once someone also remarked " Seeing Felix smile is like getting up to see the 30th of February. " He indeed was a handsome young man and with his "hard to get " attitude many girls tried their best to get closer ro him. In fact many of them used Felexia as an excuse to hang out around him.

As they walked in the sidewalk they could see the beautiful sunset. The orange -red sun ahead of them diluted the sky in its tone slowly blending into dark blue high in the sky where tiny specks called stars could be seen.

Felix walked with his back straight and hands in his pocket oblivious to his surroundings while his little sister admired the beautiful scenery as she walked. It was so mesmerizing that she would often stop and stare at the horizon like she was hypnotized.

" Walk slower if you want to reach the house tomorrow " Felix said in a cold tone yet sarcastically. She snapped back into reality. After staring for a moment at her brother to digest what he had said, she looked down at her watch and realized that it was almost about to be curfew.

When she looked back up she saw a tall lean figure walking a few meters ahead of her. So she ran to catch up. The light winter breeze along with her movement made her skirt sway up and down like it was part of the wind.

Within a few minutes they stood in front of a house. It was not a small one nor was it too big. It was just perfect for the five of them- Felexia, Felix, her parents and her little foster brother Allister. Allister was also oly 6 months younger to her but right now he was living in a hostel which was on the other end of town And oly came home during the holidays.

They were indeed a middle class family. Their lives were peaceful and they didn't need anything more. That's how they were brought up.

They opened the gates and walked into the house through the small frontyard. As soon as Felexia opened the teak door she alerted the house by yelling " we are home" however,her brother just walked up they stairs into his room and closed the door.

When she didn't hear a reply she ran thru the corridor of the house searching for a sign of another dweller in the house.

After inspecting every room in the house ,other than her brothers room, she could not find anyone else. So she went to the backyard other than some chirping birds, rustling trees and squeaking creepers she didn't find any living being.

'Where could they be? Dad should be home by now. Today is a Friday. If I remember correctly mom only has to work only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. So she should be home today. Where could they be? ' All sorts of thoughts filled her mind as she walked and stood in front of her brother's room door. Unlike many who fill their room doors with posters and signs, Felix door was empty revealing the beautiful teak wood.

She knocked on the door ."Felix! " she said in a clear tone with hints of anxiety and worry.

Not too long after came a reply " What is it? "

"Do you know where mom and dad are? "

"No"

Felexia was disappointed from his reply. Just when she was about to turn and walk away the door opened.

Felix stood looking down at his sister. Although Felexia was tall, she was still a little shorter than him. In a slightly irritated tone he asked " Did they tell you that they would be out this morning? "

Although his tone was rude Felexia knew that he was concerned. Usually in a situation like this she would reply " if I knew why would I be asking you? " but right now was not the right time to piss off her brother so he replied with a single word " No. "

"Ok.Wait a little while and if they don't return by mid night then we will see what to do"

It was obvious that Felix was much mature and wiser than his sister. Felexia wasn't really that dumb either but sometimes as a young lady she tends to worry a little here and there.

"Hmm! "
