CHAPTER 19

  ACE’S POV

  “Sir…. Wolfsbane,” he said.

After Drake and I fought. I lodged in a hotel close to Betty’s house. I wanted to do the investigation myself as I don’t trust any of Drake’s men. I would visit the house very early in the morning before they arrived and inspect the environment. I was wise enough not to leave any trail of my visit.

That morning, I had stayed behind even after the detectives arrived. It was already five days, and we were still clueless. I wanted to know everything they discussed, so I hung around the house and used my high sense of hearing to eavesdrop on their conversations.

A young detective had stumbled on a bottle of wolfsbane close to the house. I frowned. Wolfsbane would make her weak and unable to fight any attack. Drake's eyes blared with anger.

“Take it to the laboratory,” he instructed. The detective, Drake, and some other men drove to the laboratory, and I followed.
