Right after their 40 minute lesson with Kento, the class Arina had next was Potion Class. Although rarely used by Casters themselves due to their preference for using their own abilities or gear, potions were a mix of substances which could be used to enhance one's powers or reduce the cooldown between the use of Spells.
They could also heal, allow one to adapt to tough natural situations and a lot more so it was incredibly important and necessary that Casters in the Academy of every generation would at least be able to create a simple potion.
Arina and her class moved from their tower to another one and were currently in the Potion Lab with equipment all over placed on desks and seats next to them. As they walked in, instead of sitting down, a woman in the room stopped them from doing so.
"I'm Zina Tetroxin. Your Potion Class teacher." She introduced herself, wearing a lab coat on top of her red and blue skirt and shirt with purple hair tied up in a bun and glasses that made her look quite studious. "I will now assign you you're partners."
She brought out a screen with a list of all the students of Class D's name on it.
Arina stood with the rest of the class and looked composed but on the inside she was really hoping for something, 'Please don't be Yuri. Make it Serena or Luz.' She crossed her fingers and now it was up to fate to decide.
Zina seemed to be picking them at random and since they were fifteen in the class, one of them had to have three members, "Okay. Staria Gerall, Akina Toriyama and Zuro Zeitro." She said and the three students took a seat in the first row at the front.
"Yuri Gakuyami and Ayato Ayura."
"Yes." Arina fistpumped in victory, feeling relieved. She didn't want to have to deal with the boy that was basically negative energy personified.
Yuri took a seat with the fiery spiky haired boy who looked to eager to make friends with him ever since they had been in class, which he hated. Ayato with the way he dressed in bright red and orange was obviously a Fire Caster which he had told Yuri in an attempt to bond with him.
"Guess I'm you're partner."
"Just don't try to get in my way." Yuri replied coldly, taking a seat at the front of the second row.
Ayato smiled positively anyway, trying to nudge him, "Come on man, don't be like that."
Zina continued, "Serena Akanabe and Luz Umibe. Kuro Imonite and Zake Huruden. Arina Uzukire and Sila Zumono."
Arina took a seat at the row opposite to Yuri's with the girl named Sila. Sila had short green hair, wore the uniform and had blue eyes and just wreaked of low self-worth. The Light Caster could read people and could basically see thier archetypes above their head.
"Uh, hey. I'm Arina." She stuck out her hand but it was as if the girl hadn't seen it as she kept her head low while just uttering back.
"I heard from the teacher." She replied with an extremely low voice.
'Of course she did.'
Zina had tasked them with creating a health potion, one of the more difficult potions to make for beginners but that was the task they had been given. Using the Potion Books that had been handed to them, all of the students got to work, aiding each other in the class activity.
According to the Potion Book, the healing potions required a particular Drach's feathers and the juice of a plant that grew mostly in Caster regions.
Serena and Luz worked together while having fun doing so but Arina didn't mind as she wanted to work with her partner who could hopefully become her friend.
"Could you please hand me the test tube?" Sila asked, having boiled the contents that the Light Caster had prepared.
"Oh, sure." Arina looked around the desk for the test tube rack until she found it behind another tool and held the one with liquid in it in her hands. But she had messed up and it slipped off her hand and was about to spill.
"I got it." The low voice spoke again as Sila levitated the test tube up vertically and brought it over to her. "Thanks."
The team of three had finished first and had just been waiting for time to pass before walking over and showing their work to the teacher in front of the class.
"Oh. This is perfect." She complimented them before Serena and Luz had come up next, "This is almost perfect but it's not red enough so its effects won't be as potent. You should try-"
She gave the other students advice about how they could improve their potions and what was wrong with it.
Arina and Sila finally came up to the front of the class with their own and just like the others apart from the first team, they were given advice on how to better it.

The next class that they had on their schedule was Combat Class. Instead of moving to one of the towers, Class D and a few other classes moved to the main floor being led by their homeroom teachers to another hall, a much larger one. It seemed that the Combat Class was combined with the other classes which were classes A, B and C.
"Hey, these classes seem a lot larger than ours."
"Yeah, that's right. The other classes are 20 each." Luz explained to her and she nodded. Class D was the last to pass through the hall as it was done according to the letters of their class and as the did so, most of them looked like they were bearing the glares of the other students in the hall.
Sila looked like she wanted to faint as she shook like her life was bent on it and the Light Caster noticed it almost instantly. Only a few of them were unfazed by what was happening and that was probably because they had no idea why the others were so bothered. They didn't understand until they could hear the other classes students' comments and murmurs to each other.
"Oh, look. It's those Incomplete Casters which is really just the fancy word for worthless."
"That class is the worst of the worst."
"Waste of space."
Arina heard them spit out which left her more perplexed.
"I can see that you're confused." Kasami started explaining, "The Academy has this kind of system where they place the Incomplete Casters in the same class and they always choose Class D. That's why we always have the least members."
"What does Incomplete mean?" She inquired and quickly got her answer.
"You know how we have ten Gems on our Charms. I means that Casters are always meant to have ten Spells but we don't have the potential to unlock all ten which is mostly due to our Casting traits which are more limited."
Elementals were usually the least affected by this but Kasami, Raine and Ayato weren't.
"That's why the officials took our Charms for inspection. If a Caster can't unlock all ten Spells, it means that they're a less efficient one compared to their other counterparts and are least likely to survive in a battle against one." She finished
'And that's why they're ostracizing us like this. It doesn't feel right.' Arina could only say this to herself, not having the courage to speak up.
Eventually, all the students got together in a crowd where Class D stayed on their own. Like their introduction to the school, there was a teacher standing on the stage as well exhibiting his casting.
This class was basically about acquiring combat skill. Learning to combine their physical skill with their magical capabilities and doing so in harmony, creating more powerful assaults.
"Everyone, find a partner to fight against." The Teacher told them and they all scattered, looking for a sparring partner.
A boy came up with her and she kept her guard up in case he was here to make fun of her as he was from another class.
The boy was attractive to her, he had lavendar curly hair and wore a blue uniform. He was taller than her, "I'm Cris. Would you like to spar with me?"
Coupled by the fact the boy was being nice and she was the only member of her class to have not found a partner, she agreed.
She told him her name and the two got ready to fight, standing in a fighting circle which was the boundary which they could fight within in order not to bump into other students.
Cris went on the offensive, sprinting and throwing a punch but Arina ducked down, holding into his fist with one hand and throwing a punch at his gut. But he escaped her grasp and moved backwards.
"Whoa! You're tougher than you look."
"Thanks." Arina got some distance between them which was small but as far as she could go before she would get into another student's fighting circle. "Light Casting: Light Board."
Seeing that she was using a spell, Cris didn't see any reason why he shouldn't do so as well, "Lightning Casting: Twin Danger Daggers." Purple sparks crackled around his arm until two purple lightning bolts appeared in his hand. Lunging forward, he threw one of them at her but she dodged.
Before it went out of the fighting circle, it seemed that the Spell had been made to vanish which was all the work of the school who mixed magic with technology to run a lot of its activities.
After moving to the left, she shot a ball of light at him but he ducked. She flew down at him, intending to punch him and he put his arms around himself protectively but it had just been a feint and she flew around again and gave him a kick to the back, pushing him forward but he rolled on the ground before shooting his other lightning bolt.
She attempted to evade it and did so but it had hit her Light Board instead, causing her to fall to the ground but she got up fast, blocking a punch from the Lightning Caster before throwing one of her own but he backflipped backwards before running forwards.
His hand was covered slightly in purple lightning and he threw a punch at her. This one was too fast for her to avoid or block which was the whole point of it and she had been hit, knocking her down and she gave up.
"Good game!" Cris helped her up, lending her a hand and she took it, not offended at all. It was just a sparring session after all so why would she be offended. Looking at her, he realized just how pretty she was and blushed a bit. 'She's cute.'
"Thanks." She replied.
