CHAPTER SEVEN
"We are eloping"
Thomas voice kept on ringing in my ear, it took me time before i could finally understand what was going on here and when i did i became very annoyed and angry.
"And what makes you think that you have the right to tell me what to do" i said trying to be calm.
"Look, hayley i know for a fact you are not happy with your life there..."
"Fuck you Tom, I'm not some toy that you can just play with. Whether or not I'm happy with my life is none of your motherfucking business!" and with that i angrily cut the call.
i clicked on the delete button but stopped myself, 'how many times would i delete this guy', so instead i decided to block him. There, let me see how he would get to me now.
I threw my phone on the desk and stood up dusting my cloth but just when i was about to continue with work, i heard my phone ring once again. What the hell!
"I SWEAR IF YOU CALL ME ONE MORE FUCKING TIME TOM, I'M GONNA CUT YOUR....."
"Whoa hassy, I'm loving this improvement in words"
I stopped talking when i heard Imrany.
Ladies and gentlemen may i present to you my bestest of friends, Imrany Lessire. She's my age, tall and that typical brown skin girl.
"Don't tell me little hassy finally decided to step up"
I became more excited on hearing Theodora.
Chairmen and Chairlady may i present to you my other bestest of friends, Theodora Tao. She is the oldest amongst us but the shortest, she is a blonde with large blue eyes and a very white skin. One of the reasons we call her Barbie.
"OMG!, guys such a long time!" i squealed on the phone and received chuckles in return.
"i know right, i still can't believe I'm actually speaking to my old friend right now" Imrany said.
"Yeah, i think the last time i saw her was the time her possesive boyfriend threw us out of her house" Theodora exclaimed, and i picture came rushing through my mind.
It was that night we decided to celebrate after our graduation, we had just gotten the price for the best group in the school, the H.I.T girls, and i made sure Leo wasn't invited.
But have i ever gotten what i wanted?
Before we could even begin the celebration, Leo walked in my apartment and asked why i didn't come to work that day, and even after explaining it was my graduation, he still accused me of lesbianism!
He said stuff like "You think i won't also deal with 'girls' that come between us."
Yep! i know I'm foolish, i should have taken that as a hint to run away from the marriage but i didn't, and now i live with that same regret.
"Yeah! but that was in the past, now I'm just happy i get to hear her voice again" Imrany beamed.
In as much that i was so happy to see my long missed friends, not actually see, more like hear their voices, but i still wondered how it is they got my number. And so i asked them.
"ha ha ha ha ha!, Mitchley gave it us. Surprisingly for us." Theo replied.
"Mitchley!, As in sass queen bee fake tities Mitch!" i asked
"Yep, the one and only"
Mitchley was just a nickname, her real name is Mitchell Bryley, and she is not someone i would like to remember. But wait a minute, how did 'she' get my number?.
"Oh hayley, there're lots of things we need to talk about right now, but not over the phone, maybe on lunch?" Theo asked.
Uh-oh!, they have no idea that I'm not allowed to have lunch except with Leo.
"Um, i think I'm way too busy at work at the moment..."
"No problem, dinner?" Imrany asked
Worst!
They have no idea about the type of life I'm living now.
"Guys I'm sorry, but one day, I'll be sure to make out time i promise guys." I said feeling helpless
"No probs hassy, just don't forget" Imrany said
"Thanks for understanding guys" i replied before cutting the call.
"Making calls in the office is inappropriate Mrs. Martínez"
I jolted before turning round slowly, my eyes met with a familiar light green ones "Thomas!"
For a reply i just got a wink from him, and if you think it made me melt then your wrong because it just boiled up the anger in me even more than before.
"What are you doing here Tom?" i said as i placed a hand on my hip.
"Just came to check on my sister-in-law"
"Tom, please try to understand me please. Just leave me alone"
"I am never the kind toeave a woman in distress on her..."
"And what makes you think I'm in distress?"
"Hayley, you cry almost all the time"
"And how is that your business"
"Hayley your suffering..."
"Please Tom, my life is just perfect"
"Have you forgotten, you have no knowledge of the word 'perfect'"
"Well maybe I'm just not interested in knowing such a word"
"But it would fit your personality perfectly though"
"What exactly do you want from me Thomas"
"All i want is for you to experience what true love is"
"But i am in love, with Leo"
"No your not, in your case it's just fear and respect"
"Stop it Tom"
"You can't hide from the truth"
"You don't even know the truth"
"At least i know that your living in hell Hayley"
"Tom..."
"Just come with me, I'll make sure you don't regret it Hayley"
"Tom..."
"Please hayley, I've waited for 10 years already"
"What?"
"Yes Hayley, just come with me"
"What do you mean Tom, please stop messing with my head already"
"I'm not messing with you hayley, i came back just for you, so that i can be the man you always wanted"
"What are you talking about?"
