The Chase

"Amy, wait up! Amy!" Min Ki kept calling my name as he followed me hurriedly down the stairs.

After safely descending it, I turned around and told him: "Don't follow me." But he refused hence I asked him: "Tell me, how long have you been with her?"

"It's not what you think", he tried to give an excuse.

"Then what is it?" I asked him.

"She… she has been helping me out with the apartment and…" the excuse was working for my gaze couldn't allow him to formulate any story, hence I concluded his statement for him by saying: "And so you cheated on me with her."

His presence was just unbearable, and at this point, I was frustrated and yet curious to know more. Maybe that's what prompted me to ask him: "Why? What does she offer you?"

As to whether this question was necessary, his answer revealed it. "She has a lot of money", he brazenly said in the open.

"What?" I was utterly shocked.

"I needed money for my business but you didn't have it so…" he tried to explain and I cut in by asking: "Money? You cheated on me with an old lady because of money?"

"She's not that old though, she's in her early thirties", he defended her. I was extremely annoyed with him and couldn't believe the nerve he had to be saying all these so far.

At least, before leaving, I'm grateful for saying to him: "I should have known how despicable you were from the start."

"Amy! Amy!" He ran after me and grabbed my arm.

I gave him a spiteful look whilst saying with great hate: "Let go!"

Yet still, he didn't want to until he heard that old woman of his exclaim: "Just let her go!"

Finally, my arm was freed from his grasp and I made my way out. I got out of the apartment in tears. It seemed like that day was Cryday.

Jin Ho was also at a cemetery. He was staring at his parents grave and said to them whilst standing: "Mom, Dad. We never got to spend much time together when you were alive. But whenever I feel lost, I yearn to see you both."

Before he could continue, his legs felt weak and before he noticed, he had squatted before his parents grave. Bowing his head down in shame, he told the grave: "Today, I was planning on bringing a lady here. Her name is Mi Rae. However, things didn't go as planned and now I'm here all by myself. I'm sorry for bluffing a lot earlier."

After saying those words, Jin Ho let out the tears in his heart and added: "I had said that today I would bring over a lady. Mom, dad, I feel so shattered. It is as if my whole world has come to an end. Why is a break up so painful?"

Now he began to sob uncontrollably whilst exclaiming: "Mom! Dad!"

An old couple nearby were struck by his sorrow. The wife asked her husband: "Is he okay?"

"I don't think so,'' he replied.

Shaking her head pitifully, the woman said: "Tsk tsk tsk tsk tsk tsk, what a poor young man."

On the other hand, I walked along the paved road with no strength left in me. And now, I was approaching a market.

Nearby, there was a fast-paced chase. A band of loan sharks were being chased by the police. The loan sharks were just throwing things onto the ground in order to stumble the police. However, the officers still carried on with the chase. The loan sharks saw their vehicle parked just a few metres from where I was standing and headed for it.

Unfortunately, I staggered and mistakenly unlocked a cart of barrels. The barrels fell down and moved towards the loan sharks. They tried to avoid the barrel but since it was so sudden, they ended up trampling down. Therefore, the police were able to catch up with the loan sharks. But, the master of the loan sharks stood up and began to fight the officers. His fighting skills were quite incredible. But the police overpowered him with their number and soon they crowded on him. I could hear him shout at his men, saying: "Run away! Run! Hurry!"

The loan sharks didn't want to but since it was their Master's order, they took to their heels.

I went on my way and made a turn at an alley down the road. It was a quiet paved street which had no breathing sound.

But all of a sudden, the loan sharks from before approached me in the alley. I turned around only to see some of them also approach me from behind. I was completely surrounded.

Fortunately, Jin Ho was also walking around that alley and saw a group of men in black suits. He looked closely and realized that they had surrounded a lady. However, he was so downcast that he didn't mind and went on his way.

One of the loan sharks said: "Hey you. Do you know what you have done? Thanks to you, our boss is in the custody of the police."

"Me? What are you talking about?" I asked as I couldn't understand what exactly was happening.

Their second in command then ordered: "Boys, get her!"

Following his order, some of the loan sharks drew closer to me and were about to grab me. But I told them: "Wait a minute. What are you going to do to me?"

The second in command replied by asking: "Do you want to know? Don't worry, you will find out soon." Pointing his finger at me, he told his men: "Seize her!"

"Yes bro", they responded.

Since I was a feeble looking girl, two masculine loan sharks approached me and I went back. But since there were others behind me, I couldn't go back for long. Suddenly, a police siren was heard approaching and the loan sharks scattered.

Afraid that they might return, I also took to my heels. But as I was running, the sound of the siren became distant and instead a voice which sounded so tasteless, exclaimed: "Brother, over there!"

After he said that, all the loan sharks ran at me. I was confused at the scene occuring and didn't know what to do. But all of a sudden, a hand grabbed my arm and moved me with great speed. We were fast, but the loan sharks were faster. Fortunately, we saw a bus make a stop and we ran towards the bus. It was then that I realized that the one who had grabbed my arm was the pervert from the bus.

"You?" I stopped running and looked at him with devouring eyes.

"Hey, I know what you are thinking, but this isn't the time to think. We've got to run!" He mentioned.

Well, he was right but unfortunately we had no time to run as he thought. The loan sharks had surrounded us.

"Where do you think you are going to?" The second in command asked.

"Didn't you hear me earlier? Try running one more time and I will just knock you in the head", he added.

Looking to my right, I asked Mr Pervert in a low tone: "Can you fight?"

He whispered in response: "A little, why?"

His answer, just as it sounded, gave me a beam of hope. Turning my attention to the loan sharks before me, I shouted at them, saying: "Hey! You thugs! What did you just say? Do you think that I'm scared of you? Ha!"

My confidence sprouted from the fact that I had someone who could fight a little by my side.

The second in command smirked at me as he said to his men: "This croach is so irritating. Why don't we teach her a lesson so that next time she learns to shut her mouth well?"

Just then, the siren of police vehicles was heard. The sound kept drawing closer hence one of the loan sharks told the second in command: "Bro, the police are nearing us."

But he replied back saying: "Don't worry, we'll make it."

I then went on to tell them: "Since the police are after you, why don't we wrap things up quickly?"

"How?" The second in command asked and I replied saying: "I'm already in a bad mood and I want someone to vent my anger on. So, why don't you step forward if you think you are a man." I placed the challenge before them with the hope that the pervert standing next to me could protect me if the need arose or that the police would arrive in time. Yet still, I was asking for danger and the loan sharks were not going to let me go scott free.

"Wow, really!" The second in command chuckled. He then told one of his men: "Hey! Handle her."

"Yes sir", the thug replied.

The loan shark stepped forward and raised his hand to slap me but the pervert intervened. He blocked the loan shark's arm and twisted it. He screamed in pain but Mr Pervert was not done. He pushed him a little and gave him a thunderous kick. The kick was so powerful that it pushed him and all the other thugs onto the ground. That was totally unexpected. Honestly speaking, I yearned to see more action from him but Mr Pervert had something else in mind. Taking my arm, he looked at me with urgency and said: "Hurry, we might miss the bus."

And just like that we took to our heels and ran toward the bus. The loan sharks also got up and continued to chase after us. When we got onto the bus, there were more than enough seats to fill us all. And since the loan sharks were telling the driver to wait up, there was a high probability that we might end up on the bus with them, so I told the driver: "Step on it, those men are dangerous loan sharks."

Immediately he heard that, he stepped on the accelerator and the bus took off.

The loan sharks on the other hand kept running after the bus. I put my head out of the window and stuck out my tongue in a teasing manner. They kept swearing at me and throwing their fists into the air in a fuss but I didn't mind, for we were free.

After we had escaped from the loan sharks, I looked at Jin Ho whom I knew as Mr Pervert and he also looked back at me. Then, as if we were reading each other's minds, we all burst into laughter.

We could see the loan sharks still chasing after the bus from afar and falling down as they did. This even added to the fun.

But shortly after our laughter, we remembered our problems.
