Love Is Blind

Dad had a plan, and that was to get Jin Ho drunk. However, wise guys never get drunk. So in the end, my dad gave up the battle. It was getting very late so my new boyfriend had to leave. I walked him out and had something to tell him.

In front of the blue gate, I told him: "Jin Ho, about what I said earlier…"

"Don't take it back", he strongly said.

"I wasn't going to say that. I was going to say that I meant what I said earlier. I didn't want to admit it but… I felt really happy pretending to be your girlfriend", I confessed the truth. All of a sudden, the pale cheeks of his lit up and turned rosy.

"Then, should we become a real couple?" He asked.

"Yes. But don't come here regularly", I agreed and added an unexpected statement.

"Why?" He inquired and I looked around before whispering into his ears, saying: "That woman. The one who sells tofu, look at what she just did."

I took out my phone and showed him the community's page. On it this woman had indeed written an article about Jin Ho and I.

"What the...?" Jin Ho nearly spewed that word out.

"That's why it's best if you don't come here often", I advised.

"Then, how are we going to meet?" He asked, indicating that he wanted to see me again very soon.

"I will come to your place", I replied. But then, that voice appeared. "What did you just say?" That voice asked.

I knew the owner of that voice, hence I turned around quickly and said: "Dad, I…"

Without allowing me to speak, he asked: "Jin Ho?"

"Yes master, I mean father", he answered like a confused son-in-law.

My dad then asked: "Should she come over to your place?" Dad asked a very uncomfortable question. But who was I to question my dad?

"That…"

It seemed like Jin Ho was out of words hence Dad asked him indirectly. He asked the man who's smile had turned into bloody sweat: "Would you allow your daughter to visit a guy anytime?"

"Yes, I will", a voice replied. That voice didn't belong to Jin Ho. But it belonged to my mom.

"Mom", I called her with pride.

"Amy, you are old enough to make some decisions", she supported me and told dad: "Honey, whether she wants to get married now, stay at a guy's place or give birth, that's up to her. You need to respect her decisions."

In our family, mom had the most power hence having her support meant winning the battle by sixty percent.

But this time, dad wasn't going to give in easily since he possessed the other forty percent.

"Jin Ho, you haven't answered my question", he reminded the young man and repeated the question: "Should she come over to your place or not?"

Jin Ho had to be smart in answering this question. I don't know how many cells of his brain were at work but they ended up producing an answer I never thought of.

He said: "She can bring along a chaperone." That was smart of Jin Ho.

"Yes, I can do that. I can go with Ra Ra", I quickly agreed. Dad didn't want to accept the defeat. But I told him: "Dad, you already know how she is."

And mom added her support by saying: "That's right honey. Ra Ra doesn't drink, she doesn't sleep and she doesn't allow guys to have their way with her. She's a Woman of Steel."

Though he was stubborn, Dad had clearly lost this battle to Jin Ho.

"Alright, you can go over to his place if... you have a chaperone", he said with a lot of emphasis.

"Thank you dad", I went on to hug the grumpy dad of mine.

The Woman of Steel, as my mom just called her, had suddenly turned into the Woman of Candy. Holding the box of candy she received from Virel, she recalled his words. "As you chew the candy, imagine crushing your enemies."

She then took out a candy and imagined her Director as the candy. After picturing it perfectly, she placed the candy in her mouth and crushed it into pieces. After crushing a few candies, Ra Ra admitted: "Stress relieving candy. It works."

Suddenly, her phone began to ring. She took it out and saw a very weird call. "Why is he calling around this time?" She asked herself. Nevertheless, she had to pick it up.

"Hello! It is past working hours so why are you calling?" She asked her director.

"I'm sorry ", he apologized.

"What?" Ra Ra thought she had misheard him.

But he went on to say, "I'm sorry for the way I treated you earlier. That's why I called."

Right after that apology, he hung up.

Confused, Ra Ra wondered: "What just happened? Did the third son of Crexe Group just apologize to me? How come?"

That's when she tried to connect the dots. She recalled her conversation with Virel at the company. "Why did you see him?" She asked and he said, "To talk about business."

After recalling this, Ra Ra concluded her analysis by asking herself: "Perhaps, was he the one?"

Right then, she received a text message and was alarmed by it.

Virel was also on the rooftop of a very tall building. Seated on its wall, he told himself: "Something is off. The device on Jin Ho is no longer working. Today, my phone kept misbehaving and our system kept getting attacked. All of this won't happen unless we have an insider amongst us. But who could it be?"

Trying to figure things out, he had racked his brain to its limit. Tired of trying to solve the mystery, he stood up and said: "Let me step out for a drink."

Whilst walking on the street, he saw a female high schooler being chased by a group of female high schoolers.

The girl upon reaching him, said: "Mister, help me."

"Who are you?" V asked but there was no time for chit chatting.

"Get her!" The angry mob of girls said as they chased after her.

"What's going on?" Virel wondered as he saw the ongoing chase.

The girl being chased was none other than my sister, Poppy. She was fast but unfortunately got to a dead end. She turned around and was about to find a new route of escape but her pursuers had closed in on her.

"Did you think you could escape?" Her archenemy asked.

"Girls, let's negotiate", Poppy proposed.

"We refuse to", the archenemy spoke on their behalf. She then said: "How dare you curse our oppa."

"I didn't mean to say that", Poppy tried to be nice. But she had already started a fight which had to end. "What should we do to her?" Her enemy asked and the girls gave their suggestions.

But Poppy suddenly told them: "I have called my sister. If you try to harm me and she gets here, all of you will be dead meat."

"Are you kidding me? You called your sister?" The girls began to mock her. "She's unbelievable", they said.

"She called her sister? Okay, who is this sister of yours?" Her archenemy finally asked after laughing her heart out.

All this while, Virel was hiding on a staircase above the girls. "How could she call her sister?" He wondered.

But suddenly, a voice which he knew said: "Poppy, sorry to have kept you waiting."

He wanted to be sure if the voice was really whom he was thinking of. But it wasn't long before my tall friend with dark her, entered the scene.

"Ra Ra?" V was surprised.

"Are these girls the ones disturbing you?" She asked as she placed her hand around my sister's shoulder.

"Wait, Poppy? Isn't that the name of Amy's sister? Is she here to fight for her friend's sister?" Virel wondered.

"So you really called your sister here? Alright girls, let's show them what we've got", her archenemy instructed.

But a few minutes later, things looked abnormal.

"Sister, take care", the mob said to Ra Ra. In reply, she said to them: "Make sure to take good care of my little sister."

"Yes sister", they replied like good kids.

Virel was impressed. "Wow, she's awesome. She didn't flick a finger and yet got all of them to bow down to her", he said as he smiled at the scene. Slowly, he was getting attracted to her charms.

"Ra Ra, thank you!" My sister thanked her.

"Thanks to you, I lost some dollars. Make sure not to do this again", Ra Ra warned her.

"Yes sister", she agreed. Despite the trouble she had just caused, my sister had the nerve to ask: "Ra Ra, can we have some ice cream?"

With the devil's eyes, my bestie asked her: "Do you really want to eat ice cream?"

"No, I'm fine", my sister replied after seeing those damn scary eyes.

"Good girl", she suddenly patted her hair.

As the mob of girls walked back, they kept saying: "Poppy's sister is so cool. How did she manage to get so many CREW autographs?"

My sister also asked the same thing. "Ra Ra, how did you manage to get so many autographs of CREW members?"

"I design their clothes. They give it to me as a reward", she replied.

"Oh, you are so cool", she received two thumbs up from my sister. My little sister was really annoying. How could she tell my bestie that she's cool whilst calling me dumb?

"Let's go home", Ra Ra said to the little troublemaker.

Virel looked at them from afar and smiled. "She is very cool, super cool", he mumbled. And then, came back to life. "Wait, how long have I been following them?" He looked like a man freed from hypnosis.

"We are home!" Ra Ra said as she entered the leveled house with my sister.

"Poppy, are you now in?" Dad asked as he came to meet them.

"Yes. Dad, why didn't you come for me?" She asked.

"I'm sorry. Something came up. Ra Ra, it's nice to have you here", he replied.

"What was it?" Poppy asked him. "The thing is…" dad began and soon rattled the entire happenings of the evening as if he was a rapper.

Mom and I then came in after dropping Jin Ho at the bus station.

"Ra Ra!" I rushed to meet my friend and completely ignored my sister. "Have you eaten?" I asked as we were about to have dinner.

"Yes, I just came to drop Poppy", she said.

"Why do you keep smiling at me?" I asked as she had an unending smile on her face.

"Amy has a boyfriend, Amy has a boyfriend", Poppy began singing aloud.

"How did she know?" I asked myself and then looked at dad.

"Hey, dad, did you tell them already?" I asked and he cleared his throat.

"I wanted to be the first to tell you", I told my bestie. But she just drew closer to me and gave me a hug.

"I'm so happy. Thanks a lot, my good friend", she said as she rubbed my back.

"Why are you happy?" Poppy couldn't understand.

At his apartment, Jin Ho had called Virel in and was updating him on everything that took place.

"V, you can't imagine how scared I was when her dad kept asking me those questions", he confessed.

"Wow man, I don't know what to say. But, what did you say when he asked about your profession?" Virel asked.

"Sister, what job does he do?" Poppy asked me as she and Ra Ra sat on the bed opposite mine.

"Does she know about your profession?" Virel also asked Jin Ho.

"I haven't told her anything about my work yet and her dad didn't ask either", he revealed.

"I don't care about the work he does. As long as it is legal, I am okay. Besides, I am currently jobless, so who am I to ask someone about his profession?" I told Poppy.

"Love is really blind", she said as my answer made her feel chilly.

But she was right, love was truly blind and it could heal the most painful hearts in a twinkle of an eye.

(The Next Day)

"Mom, how do I look?" I asked as I twirled around.

"Pretty as always", she replied before asking: "Are you going on a date with Jin Ho?"

"Yes mom", I replied and went out in a haste.

(The Next Day)

"Mom, I am leaving."

"Already?" She asked as she had just woken up from sleep.

"We agreed to watch the sunrise together", I explained and went out in a haste.

(The Next Day)

"Mom", I called her. But this time, she just said: "I know. Go, just go."

"Thanks. See you later", I said as I rushed out of the house. Mom smiled whilst shaking her head in disbelief.

This was the daily update of my life; daily dates. Everyday, I met him, and never did a week pass by without some romantic memories. Time ticked so fast and before I realized, a month had flown by. My love life was coming back alive and I didn't even care about work.

It had been a month since Jin Ho and I started dating. And during this period, the evil guys were also making their plans. After investigating for over a month, the man who was always in casual wear had something better to report.

"I hope you have good news this time. Or are you here to tell me to run away?" His boss asked.

"We found his weakness", he reported.

"What is it?" The boss asked and he showed him several pictures of my dates with Jin Ho.

"Her name is Amy Lee. She's his girlfriend and he seems to like her a lot", the man reported.

"Like father, like son. A woman continues to be the weakness of the men in this family. Hahahaha!!!" The boss gave out an evil laugh.

He then instructed the man saying: "Kidnap her and use her as bait. After he has come to save her, kill her. It will drive him crazy and make him act foolishly. Trap him and put the entire crime on him. Just like we did to his dad, make him suffer till he takes his own life."

"Yes sir", the man replied and left to accomplish his mission.

This meant that soon, our better days were about to turn bitter.
