Early marriage 1
"Lily, lily, wake up darling!" I heard my mother's soft voice say.
"Good morning mother"
"Morning sweetheart, and happy birthday dear" my mother told me
Shit it my birthday,I am eighteen
Am Lydia Heart, I am eighteen years old, I have brunette hair which I got from my beautiful mother and I got purple eyes which are rare of course.
"Come on, get up! Me and your dad have something to talk to you about " my mom said and left my room for me to get ready. I chose a simple purple short gown.
After I got ready I headed downstairs where my parents were waiting for me with decorations and my favorite breakfast.
"Wow! Thanks mom and thanks dad " I was so happy when I saw the whole decorations
"I can't believe my baby girl has come of age,You look so beautiful my darling" my dad told me with tearing eyes.
"Come and take your sit dear" I took my sit close to my mama.
"That's why we have come to this decision " my mama said.
"What decision?" I was confused
"To get you married sweetheart " the smile on my face fell as I heard what my mother said . I knew this was going to come but not this early, I thought I had one more year to enjoy my single life and get to read more books in the down town bookshop, before my parents gets to look for a husband for me but they already did that early then I thought.
"I know you think ,it to early but this is the right time we can find a suitable man for you to get married to and people won't talk badly about you " I just nodded at my parents as they kept on talking about how important it was to get married at a early age, I just kept quiet and listened to them. On till she said.
"We already picked the perfect guy for you "
"mother" why would they do that without even letting me know, I am feeling so wronged right now, there is nothing I can do about it they are my parents, they get to marry me off to any man that pleases them and at any time, it was the tradition of this town and it has been going on for centuries. No female has a say in their marriage which was just so painful.
"But mother if I get married this early who is going to help you with baking"I asked worried and Trying to talk her out of it.We owned a small bakery shop down the street. It was built by my grandfather for my grandmother but after my grandfather died she gave it to my mom then she died.
"You don't have to worry my dear we will manage,your father will help me with the little he can when he his chance "
"Okay mama" my father was just standing there looking at my mom as she was telling me all this.
"Would you like to know your future husband's name or till you guys get to meet each other " I thought about it for few seconds before I said yes like who wouldn't want to know their future husband's name "Yes mama" I answered honestly
"His name is Alexander Lewis, he stays at the neighboring town, he owns a small workshop, he his very handsome so you have nothing to worry about " okay that manageable at least he has something doing that can feed the family.
"Okay mama" am really tired I thought this day was going to be a joyful day not me learning I will be getting married anytime soon.
"You will be getting married in three days time my dear" Ohh my God so early I thought in few months am not ready.
"Mother, father I don't think am ready for this like it too early, are you guys trying too send me away cause if it that am not going anywhere" I am upset now
"Baby it not what you think we love you, it just that three days from now is the perfect timing to get married so you can have luck in your marriage, that was what the priest said"
"Okay mama I will do anything you want,if that what you think is the best for me" I can't believe I just said this cause am freaking out like how can I be getting married in three days . I think I just have to except the truth
