Still In Mourning

"Here?" asked Christine, turning to Nora as they stood in front of a door to a room.

Nora nodded her head. William had instructed her to bring Christine into the room.

"Okay, let's go inside," Christine said, then looked at the door in front of her. Her face initially looked a little confused as she had never been to this place before.

However, Christine quickly dismissed her confusion and a smile appeared on her pretty face. She couldn't wait to meet William soon.

"I bet he will be instantly captivated by my beauty!" Christine thought confidently.

As soon as she entered the room, Christine's expression changed to a slightly confused one as she saw a long table and several chairs lined up. After counting them, she noticed there were five chairs on each side of the table and one chair placed at each end of the table in the room.

Christine then decided to sit on one of the chairs at the end of the table, the seat closest to her.

"By the way, where is William?" Christine asked, looking around the room and not finding him.

"His Royal Highness William will be here soon, Lady Christine," explained Nora. Although she herself was a little confused at the lack of people in the room, Nora knew the time that William had told her to bring Christine in.

"Oh," Christine said slowly, realizing she had to wait for the man once again. She decided to look around and admire the beauty and luxury of the room.

"You're not sitting?" Christine asked, noticing that Nora was still standing behind her and not taking a seat. After all, there were so many empty seats in the room, so why was Nora still standing? Wasn't she tired?

"Ah!" Nora flinched slightly when she heard Christine's words. Something in her chest felt warm at the offer.

"N-It's okay, Lady Christine," Nora said politely. She was very grateful that Christine had offered a lowly maid like her to sit there, but Nora knew it wasn't appropriate for a maid like her to do so.

Christine just nodded and didn't bring it up again. After all, it was just small talk earlier because she noticed Nora didn't sit despite many empty chairs. Maybe Nora wasn't really that tired and wanted to stand up.

Five minutes had passed, and there was no sign of William. This made Christine, who had been sitting casually, start to feel a little irritated.

"Why does that human keep making me wait? Who does he think he is?" Christine silently cursed as she tapped her fingers on the table.

Despite her irritation, she tried to be patient and waited for William to arrive.

Not long after, the door of the room finally opened, and William's figure came inside along with several people.

Nora, who was standing beside Christine, immediately greeted William.

"Good day, Your Highness William. Welcome," said Nora while bow slightly.

While Christine still sat where she was, trying to hold back her annoyance as she looked at William's face.

William, who had walked past Christine, immediately turned his head back to the woman when he didn't hear her greeting him.

Seeing the woman still sitting in her chair surprised him, as during this time, many people often gave him greetings. It was a bit unfamiliar to him to see someone not saying anything and just sitting where they were.

William then took a seat in a chair across from Christine, making their sitting position face-to-face, even though the distance was quite far. After sitting down, William looked at the people who had come with him earlier and nodded his head, as if implying them to do what he had previously asked them to do.

"Excuse me, Lady Christine," Nora said to Christine and excused herself to leave. Christine was a little taken aback by Nora's sudden want to leave, but she decided not to get in her way. She thought this is getting better cause she needs to be alone with William.

Finally, Christine and William were alone in the dining room. There was silence, and the two of them just stared at each other.

"That seems to be true. She was still in mourning for the Queen's death," thought William when he saw Christine, who had come to see him today wearing black clothes.

In their kingdom, Black was symbolized by death and usually people would wear that color to show that they were grieving.

"As his son, I couldn't even wear black to mourn my own mother's death, but she clearly shows it like this," thought William, who felt very sorry for his mother because he couldn't show his grief.

Meanwhile, Christine kept her eyes on William, who had been staring at her for a while but didn't say anything.

"What's this? Was he speechless because he was stunned by my beauty?" thought Christine, who smiled in her heart when she saw William's reaction.

"As I thought! This should be the reaction he gave when he saw me! It turns out that even if you are a Crown Prince or whatever, you are still a man!" thought Christine happily.

Suddenly, Christine stood up from her seat, making William, who was lost in thought, suddenly realize it because the woman made a sound while standing up from her chair.

"What? What are you doing?" William asked when he saw Christine sauntered towards him, her hips swaying seductively

Well… for someone who is grieving, isn't it very strange to see that kind of behavior?

Christine didn't answer and perched herself on a chair near him, her eyes locked on his handsome face.

"Well, hello there," Christine purred, her voice dripping with sensuality. She flashed him a sultry smile and a seductive wink. .

"Um... hello?" William replied awkwardly, taken aback by how close Christine's face was to his.

In truth, he had chosen this place specifically to keep a distance from Christine, as her beauty was a distraction he didn't need. The woman's face is too beautiful and it is not good for her health.

Christine then grabbed the chair and slid it closer to William.

"Do you like what you see?" She ran her fingers through her hair, tossing it back over her shoulder, and watched as William's eyes followed the movement.

"I'm so pretty, right?" ask Christine with a smile.

"That…"

William was suddenly at a loss for words and it felt like his heart was beating even faster. Christine looked even more beautiful than their previous meeting, but he wasn't about to admit it to her. Especially not when she seemed to be fishing for compliments.

Christine waited patiently, eager to hear the praise she was sure would escape William's lips. Maybe it was his cold yet handsome expression that made her want his compliment. Well, Christine loved looking at handsome men, even if they were her food.

Suddenly, the sound of the door opening interrupted their conversation. Several people wearing similar clothing came in carrying plates of food, which they began to place on the table.

Christine's eyes, which were confused and did not understand, immediately widened when she saw what those people were carrying.

It is food. Human food!

"Let's eat together," William said once the servants had finished setting the table.

Christine turned to him, her expression changing to one of dismay. "Shit!" she muttered under her breath.
