His Strange Dream

Yhanzekiel's POV

Here I am in my room, my celebration just ended right now. My parents and my friends gave me a surprise birthday party because yesterday was my birthday and I totally forgot because apart from being the president of Student Council and I’m also the Captain of our basketball team.

“Are you tired?!!”I was shocked when I saw my Mom from the door of my room but I smiled at her quickly.

“Sort of but it's okay, I enjoy it.” I said while smiling. “Mom, thank you for celebrating my birthday because last time, you don’t want to celebrate it.” I added.

“And you know why I don’t, right?!”I just nodded.

“Yeah, it is because you don’t want to remember what happened in the past.” I feel sad suddenly because I remember why she doesn’t want to celebrate my birthday.

“I hope you understand.” and she kissed my forehead. “Go to sleep, I know you are already tired because of your practice.”

I nodded. “Goodnight Mom.” and she closed my door.

I lie down but I can’t fall asleep. I'm still thinking what are the reasons why they don’t want to celebrate my birthday. I know that it is already enough of a reason that they don’t want to remember my past but it is a big deal for me because I feel that there are more reasons that they want to hide from me, even my friends, they don’t want to say what happened that time. I feel helpless because I can’t do anything, it feels like a blurry scene in my mind. All I know is that time I was hit and run by a car when I’m passing by but I feel there is something missing. Maybe I’m just paranoid.

I found myself in a different place and I’m sitting on the ground. I searched my surroundings but I’m not familiar with it. I stood up and walked away from where I am then I saw two people. They are chasing each other while laughing. I want to ask them but suddenly it becomes dark.

I tried to scream but I can’t see anything beside darkness. I tried to touch the things near me but it was nothing but emptiness then I suddenly heard a voice.

"Ekiieee!!"

I search where it came from but I can’t find it.

“Heyy!!! There’s anyone here?!”I shouted.

"Ekiiieee!!!!"

I turned around because the voice came from that direction. I ran where it came until I saw a light. I ran fast until I reached the park. I saw the back of a girl, she was walking like a soulless and she stopped in the middle of the road. I hurriedly ran to her to save her but there was a boy with white shirt running faster than mine.

"KKKYYYYLLLLEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!"

I woke up with my heart beating fast, it feels like I’m in race. I suddenly growl because of the sunlight. Ohh god!!! It was just a dream, I thought it is real but who’s Kyle?! Is it the boy who runs faster or the girl that stops in the middle of the road? I don’t know!!!

I just stand up and go to the toilet to wash my face. After that I go down for breakfast.

"Good morning."I greet our maids.

“Good morning too Ekie. Just wait for a minute, I will prepare your breakfast.”she said and walked out in the dining room.

Few minutes later, she came back with a tray of my breakfast, a toasted bread, juice and strawberry jam.

“Thank you.”I said with a smile.

"Welcome. Enjoy your food."

She was ready to walk out on the door when I called her. I want to ask her if she knows Kyle, maybe Kyle was one of the friends before.

“Ahm can I ask you a question?!”I stopped her.

She nodded. “What is it Ekie?!”

“Do you know Kyle?!”I asked her and I saw her getting pale. Is there something wrong?

“I---I don’t know who you're talking about. I don’t know Kyle.”she said while stuttering. Is she hiding something from me?

“Are you sure?”I asked again.

“You can ask you Mom and maybe she knows Kyle. May I excuse myself? I need to do something.”she hurriedly went out.

I sighed because I feel that there is something they are hiding from me. After I ate my breakfast I took a bath because I have an early practice today and I can’t be late today.

*After few days*

Today is Monday and also another start of school days. I hurriedly took a bath and ate breakfast because I have so many things to do today. I need to finish all of my paperworks in the student council office for our university foundation that will be held within two months.

“Mom, Dad I need to go, I need to finish something in school.”I bid a goodbye for them.

I kissed them and waved at them before going out of the house. I saw Eirvill waiting for me. Because of what happened to me, my parents didn't allow me to go out without my friends.

“You are quietly late today.”he teased me. “Maybe you dream about your girlfriend? Hahaha.”he continued.

“Shut up. Just drive, we’re gonna be late if you don’t start driving right now.”I said to him while laughing.

To be honest, I dreamed again about Kyle and not my girlfriend. Yes, I have a girlfriend, her name is Dieyne Jayselle Castillo and before my accident she was already my girlfriend, that's what my Mom said so we’re dating for so long. For me, Jayselle is a girlfriend-material, she is sweet, kind and understandable. My classmate said I’m lucky to have her but to be truth she was the one who was lucky because she had me.

“Hey Eirvill, can I ask you something?!”I suddenly remembered my dream about Kyle, maybe he knows him/her. I don’t want to ask my Mom because I know she's going to be mad. She doesn't want me to think about my past.

“What is it?”

“Do you know someone named Kyle?”after I said that he suddenly stopped. “Vill, are you insane?! Why did you suddenly stop?! Do you want us to have an accident?!”I shouted at him.

“I’m sorry. I’m just surprised with your questions.”he started to drive again.

“I’m just asking if you know someone named Kyle, what a surprise there?”I feel a little pissed right now. “So you really know Kyle right? Is it a guy or girl? One of your fling?!”I teased him.

“Are you crazy?! Hey, I’m loyal to my girlfriend!!”he answered.

“So what now? Do you really know someone named Kyle?!”I asked again.

“Will you be mad at me or will you be calm?”he was assuring me if I’m gonna be mad or be calm. I don’t know.

“I’m sorry, I can’t promise you that.”I said in a cool way.

“So I don’t know who Kyle is.”he said in a cool way also.

“If you don’t want to say, I will ask Marcky.”

“Then go, ask him, maybe he knows who Kyle is.”then he parked his car. “Bye bro. Goodluck.”he smirks and goes out in his car.

It is really hard to ask a person like Eirvill who doesn’t know the world ‘serious’. I shake my head as I go to the Student Council Office. When I arrived at the office I saw Marcky sitting on the chair in front of my table. I sat in his front and I asked him directly.

"Do you know who Kyle is?!!"I said directly to him. I don’t want to beat around the bush.

"I don't know what you are talking about."he said in a calm tone while reading his book.

“I had a dream the other day and last night. I saw two people, a girl who is not by herself. I saw her stopped in the middle of the road then a guy with a white shirt suddenly ran to the girl to save her and he called her Kyle.”I said all the details about my dreams.

“Then? What’s the big deal?! You just saw that scene and you are not on that scene so it's really about you.”he said calmly again and it made me feel frustrated. Even though I know I’m not that guy but maybe it is one of my memories of my past then maybe it can help me to regain my memories.

“It is a big deal for me Marcky!!!”I shouted. “What if that scene is one of my erased memories two years ago?!! What if that girl and boy have a big part of my past?! What if they are the only one who can answer all of my questions that you always ignore!!!”I suddenly feel angry because I feel helpless right now.

“Ekie it’s all the past.”I feel that he somewhat feels irritated.

“But the past is part of me, how I can complete myself if I don’t know how to remember anything from my past!!”I shouted again. Thank god because our office is sound proof so no one can hear our conversation.

He suddenly stood up and threw his book.

“Why are you bringing this up now?! I said already that remembering your past is a waste of time because you know what?!! It is because it was full of pain and I don’t want you to remember that!!! If I were you, stop asking about your past. Live the present Ekie!!”and he walks away from me but he stops when I speak.

“I don’t care if it was full of pain or happiness. I just want to know my past because even though I always smile in front of you, I hide my pain for not knowing everything about myself.”I feel like I want to cry now but I can’t. I need to be brave.

“I know Ekie but please understand me, knowing your past will bring you sadness and I don’t want to see you like that again.”he said while not looking at me.

He was leaving the office when the door suddenly opened and a girl came out with casual clothes.

“Ohh my god. Sorry if I disturb you.”she said shyly.

Skyler's POV

I breathe deeply before I enter the university where I study right now. It is so nice to be back, it’s been two years since the last time I’m here. After Vince’s death, I left here with my family for the new beginning but until now I don’t know if I’m ready to start my life without him. I feel that my soul stays in my past with Vince.

After reminiscing about my past I go straight to the Registrar Office to get my schedule. While I was walking I saw many changes like the canteen, it got bigger and also the corridor. Before I enter the office I breathe deeply again.

"Good morning Ma'am."I greeted her.

"Ohh you're here Ms.De Chavez."She greeted me back and gave me a smile."Come in."

“Thanks Ma’am.”Then I sat in front of her table. “You can call me Skyler, I’m not used to calling by my surname. I’m sorry.”I said shyly.

“Is that so? Okay Ms. Skyler.”she said with a smile again. “I’m so glad that you chose this university for the project of exchanging students from different universities.”

“I used to study here Ma’am and it was a big part of my life. That’s why I chose this school.”I explained to her and she nodded.

“I’m happy to hear that. By the way here’s your schedule. I hope you enjoy your stay here.”the give me a folder that contains my schedule.

“Thank you Ma’am.”I bowed my head as a sign of respect.

“Ohh and Miss Skyler, can you go to the Student Council Office for the sign of the Student Council President?”she added.

“Okay Ma'am.”I answered and left her office.

I forgot to ask her where the Student Council Office is. When I was studying here, I never was able to wander around the university and I was only here just for a couple months. I’m just lucky when I saw a student passing by in front of the Registrar Office.

"Miss excuse me, do you know where's Student Council Office is?!!" I asked the student.

"Just turn on the left and go straight. In the end, you can see the Student Council Office."she answered.

I thanked her and I went to the Student Council Office. While walking I saw many students going back and forth. These places really have so many changes. I saw a new fountain in the center of each building then, on the other side I saw a new built gymnasium where the basketball team was practicing and also the volleyball team.

After a while, I reached the Student Council Office. I knocked at the door and slowly opened it then I saw two guys arguing. Am I disturbing them? Maybe they are arguing about something important. I should go now before they will see me but before I close the door I meet one pair of eyes.

“Ohh my god. Sorry if I disturb you.”I said shyly and when I started to walk away one guy called me.

"Sky?!!"

I stopped and turned back to see who's calling me. I froze when I saw who's calling me.

"V-vince?!"my eyes become teary. Is this real? Is it really Vince or I'm hallucinating again?!

He started to laugh. "Here you go again. Hahaha. Remember me, Ekie?! The one you talked the day before yesterday in the park?!"a memory suddenly popped into my head. Sky stops illusioning!!! Vince is already dead so please don’t hope that you will see him again.

“Y-yeah. I remembered. You are Ekie.”I said while hiding my sadness. I slowly entered the room while wiping the tears slipped away from my eyes. “I’m sorry if I mistaken again that you are Vince.”I said to him while looking down.

I heard him chuckle.

“It’s okay. Don’t mind it.”he said.

I looked up to see him and I was shocked when I saw a familiar face---no it’s really him----standing beside Ekie. What is he doing here?

"S-skyler/M-marcky?!!"We said in unison. We were both shocked to see each other after Vince and I broke up. I’m happy that he is okay right now and I hope I can talk to him at other times or catch up after two years.

"Do you know each other?!!"Ekie asked while changing stare in two of us.

I smile. “Yes, actually he is my fri------”I didn’t complete my sentence when Marcky cutted me.

“She was my classmate before so we knew each other.”he said without any emotion and cold tone. What is his problem? Why didn't he finish my sentence?

“Ohh. Okay, I thought you were more than just a classmate.”Ekie said and looked at me. “By the way Sky, why are you here? Do you need any help? I can help you.”he said while smiling at me.

“I-I just want to see the Student Council President to sign up my application form and transferee form.”I answered while avoiding Marcky. I feel hurt when he answers like that, it is like we were not friends before. I feel like he was new to me, a Marcky that I never met.

“Ohh, where are your forms? I will sign up.”I give him my forms.

While Ekie signing up my forms I saw Marcky leaving out without saying goodbye. I feel more hurt because of what he did. Is it because of me leaving Vince without saying a word even when Vince had his final destination?! Maybe he is mad at me because of what happened two years ago and that’s why he became cold.

I looked at Ekie again and I can’t help but remember Vince. They really have the same aura, the only thing that they different is personality. They have a different personality. Vince has a playful personality while Ekie has a strong and powerful personality or more like a serious one.

“Ekie can I ask you something? How long did you know Marcky?”I asked because I’m just curious, nothing else.

“Maybe two years or more,I don’t remember.”he answered. I just nodded as my answer. “Why are you asking?”

I shake my head and smile at him. “Nothing, I’m just asking.”

After he signed my forms I said goodbye to him, I don’t want to stay there because I feel that any moment I’m gonna cry because of Ekie’s presence. It feels like Vince is still alive even though I know he’s not.

“Do you want to have a tour? I can give you a tour so you can familiarize the different departments here.”he asked but I shook my head.

I smile a bit. “It’s okay. Don’t worry I'm not gonna lose here.”

He just nodded as an answer. I thanked him before going out.

When I got out in the Student Council Office I saw Marcky standing on the side while looking down. What is he still doing here? Was he waiting for me to go so he can get back to the office? I didn’t mind him because of what happened before. Maybe he doesn’t want to talk to me but when I was one step away from him I heard him speak.

“I’m sorry.”he said, so I stopped and looked at him.

I saw him looking up and I was shocked when I saw him tearing up. Oh god!! Why is he crying?

“Marcky----”he cutted me again.

“Skyler I’m sorry if I did something wrong. I’m sorry if I acted like that before. I’m sorry if-----”I stopped him because I don’t want to listen to all the things he wants to say.

“It’s okay, it’s been two years after we saw each other and maybe you change a little bit because there’s nothing permanent here.”I said bitterly. I was hurt a little while ago because of what he said.

“I’m really sorry.”and he started to cry. I can’t help but to hold my laugh because I saw the old Marcky right now, a sensitive and emotionally Marcky.

“Hey it’s really okay Marcky, don’t cry!!! You don’t look like a man when you’re crying so please stop crying.”I teased him.

He laughed while crying and he suddenly hugged me so I was slightly shocked.

“I miss you Skyler.”he whispered and I just laughed but I feel relieved because he didn’t forget me. He is still the Marcky that I know.

“I miss you too Marcky.”and I hugged him back. I felt all my emotions suddenly burst out and before I knew it I started to cry in his chest. “Marcky!!!”I don’t know what to say but having him hugging me feels like I hugged Vince because he is Vince’s best friend.

“I’m sorry Skyler. It’s okay. Please don’t cry.”he said to calm me and pat my back. “Don’t cry okay?”

“Marcky what’s going on here?!”

We were surprised and separated from the embrace when we heard a voice from our back. We both looked at who it is, at first I didn’t recognize her but when she speaked again I knew who she was.

“Skyler it’s that you?”she was shocked when she saw me.

“Vernice?”

Is that really Vernice?!! She was different from before.

“It’s really you Skyler!!!”she shouted and hugged me tightly. “Where have you been? Why did you suddenly disappear from us? We were worried about you.”

“I’m alright, okay? I’m not dying or anything and you know what happened and why I suddenly leave without saying goodbye.”I explained to her.

“Even so, you didn’t say goodbye to me or the two of us. If you said goodbye, we still have communication until now.”she said while crying. I already know that but I don’t want to become a burden to them because in the first place they are Vince’s friend not mine.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to. I just don’t want to be a burden to you or to Marcky.”that’s the only thing I said because I don’t know what to say to them.

“Hey Vernice don’t cry. Skyler is already here so stop crying.”he started to soothe her.

Vernice nodded and grabbed Marcky’s t-shirt so she could wipe her tears. I smile at them, I find them weird but it really amusing to see a couple like them. They are not typical couples that you will see in other places.

“Good thing I have my extra t-shirt in my locker.”Marcky said while staring at his shirt.

“It’s okay, you still love me.”Vernice said with tenderness.

“You two are sweet as always.”I said to them while smiling and they smile also.

“Vince and you are more sweet than us when you are still together.”she teased me.

I just smile bitterly because I remember all the memories we’ve had together and that's the only thing we had because we cannot create more memories. It's a little bit sad but atleast Vince left me with good memories of him. Even though I accept the fact that he’s gone I still hoping that someday we can create more memories even if it's impossible.
