"How about you stay with me while you get better?"
The words played over in over in Esmenes mind. 'What? Why? How would it work out? Really? Could she? Would it really be ok?' Esmene had so many questions to ask.
"Hey, I'm sorry. I guess that was a little too sudden." Alexander loosened his grip on her hand. 'Did I say the wrong thing?' Alexander wondered. "You don't have to give me an answer roght now, so just think about. You know, I'm just a friend who wants to help you.'
'Liar!' His conscience shouted at him. 'As if you could ever stay just friends.'
"Oh, ok." she said weakly. "I will."
"Alright, now try to go back to sleep. We can talk more in the morning when we are both a little more awake." As he said this, Alexander released his hand from Esmenes. Grabbing his jacket, Alexander lied down on the couch in front of the window.
Esmene didn't like it when he had pulled his warm hand away from hers. 'Were just friends. Don't over think it Esmene.' she repeated this a few times in her head until she could believe it. "Night." She said quietly.
"Goodnight." he soon replied. And off to sleep they went.
